A simple shower/tub remodel is a small job compared to Pearl Remodeling's many other major projects, yet they treated it with the same urgency and importance I would expect from a much larger job. Our contractor, Ben, was outstanding. He set up an unrushed meeting to review every aspect of what we wanted, gave valuable feedback, suggestions, and a prompt quote. We had remodeled a different bathroom with a different company a few years ago. Ben asked, "Why didn't you stay with them?" He studied my face, clearly trying to determine if I was a potentially unreasonable client. After I explained the nightmare of delays and lack of communication from the other contractor, I added, "I called Pearl Remodeling because of your overwhelmingly positive reviews." Ben sighed and said, "We work so hard for every one of those reviews..." I believed him. Hired. Ben kept me constantly up-to-date on progress via text, phone calls, and email. The project was executed on a seamless schedule, each day following a logical progression. The only unexpected 1-day delay was precautionary on Pearl's part to allow extra time for some thick patching to fully dry before sanding. The project was 99% finished the Friday before Memorial Day. Only the shower trim needed to be installed. I mentioned to Ben in passing that being so close to completion, I had hoped to enjoy using the shower during the long holiday weekend, but that waiting until Tuesday was no big deal. A short time later, Ben called to ask if he could make an exception to send a plumber Saturday morning to complete the shower. Honestly, I was fine waiting until Tuesday, but this extra touch was welcome, and I enjoyed my new shower ahead of schedule which was incredibly satisfying. After paying for the project in full, Ben still showed up to inspect all the work. There were a couple of minor issues he wanted improved and immediately arranged for them to be fixed the next day. After those finishing touches and after I officially signed off on project completion (and before he knew I was writing this review) Ben contacted me to say, "If there is anything you aren't satisfied with, please tell me." Shay (Rep) came out to my property so that I can obtain quote for exisitng Pergola to be removed and redone. This guy did no measurement, looked the existing pergola where I wanted two small walls to be removed holding the existing pergola. This guy only stayed not more than 10 mins. giving me a quote of $30K. Other quotes were less than $10K where most contractors spent time measuring, discussing the details, etc. I actually called Patios 4 All and they sent me this company which are both tied to each other. 1) Had an inhome estimate last Monday. They said they will give me a detailed quote in 1-2 days, and 6 days later, they never got back to me. 2) the technician outright lied to my face. There are some nail holes and damages to my doors. I asked them to patch those up. He said they can do it, but the patched area will be super visible as they won't have Wood grains. They must replace All my doors and door frames, aka wanting me to spend the most money for the most minor cosmetic issues. Lie Lie Lie ! I'm an artist and crafter, and happen to know this as a fact! The material they use to patch up wooden doors is like a Putty. You can sculpt with it. Essentially, after you patch the holes, just take a palette knife and carve out some wood grains to match the rest of the door. Let it dry. That's all you need to do, takes 2 mins. We decided to go with Pearl after seeing the work they were doing for a friend who was in the middle of a kitchen remodel themselves. ------------------------------------------ 1) A little background: We've lived in our house for 11 years and updating our kitchen has been on our mind for bit, but we decided to wait due to the pandemic. Our kitchen remodel wasn't a complete redesign. We didn't move any walls or re-configure the layout. Our goal was to basically update the old and bring in the new. Our house originally came with a 2007 era IKEA kitchen that was red - a lot of red. The countertops were butcher block that were already in rough shape when we purchased the home. ------------------------------------------ 2) The plan: I'm a graphic designer and illustrator so I was able to mock up what we wanted things to look like by drawing over a photo I took of our existing kitchen. This was a huge help for us to visualize what the end result should look like. We basically wanted to replace our existing IKEA kitchen with a new IKEA kitchen. ------------------------------------------ 3) What we hired Pearl for: * Demolition of the old kitchen * Bringing electrical and plumbing up to code (of which there was a LOT of updating to do). * Installing a new 3/4 natural gas line * Routing a new trench in our concrete floor to run the correct kind of water line to our fridge. * Tile work (both floor and backplash). We went with cement tile from Zia Tile which required extra care during installation and additional steps post install involving multiple coats of sealant and a special wax. My wife and I opted to seal the tiles ourselves so we could take our time. * Drywall repair, baseboards, painting, finish plumbing Pearl was not hired to: * Design our new kitchen * Source any materials for the kitchen. My wife and I sourced everything and had all the materials on-hand for Pearl down to the tile edging and floor transition strips. * Install our new IKEA kitchen * Install any appliances (they don't install appliances for liability reasons) * Install countertops. I made arrangements with another business on my own. ------------------------------------------ 4) Contractor review: * Ben: He was my main contact from start to finish. Overall, I was really happy with my experience working with him. Communication: 4 of 5 stars He's running multiple jobs at once and getting a hold of him was sometimes immediate, and sometimes there was a delay. It's just the nature of the business. What I can say is that he always got back to me when it was critical. I never got frustrated or upset at my inability to reach him. * Ramon: The main foreman for my job. He handled the demolition, drywall repair, tile, and any other finish work that was required. Ramon always showed up on time when he was supposed to barring a few instances here and there where things were delayed a day or two due to unforeseen circumstances at another job site. Acceptable in my book. GOOD: * I felt that Ben, his foreman Ramon, and his sub contractors (plumber, electrician) listened to my concerns when they came up and addressed them. I never once felt like they made me feel like I was in the wrong. ISSUES: The two workmanship issues (not unexpected costs) that came up all were both related to the tile work. Thankfully these were all remedied. 1. FLOOR: Our floor tile has clear geometric pattern and when you have a geometric design it needs to be straight. When the floor tile was being laid, I came out to inspect progress. At the time they were about 20 tiles in when I noticed the design was veering left a small amount which would have ruined the design if left unchecked. I immediately let Ramon and his second tile worker know and they fixed it immediately. Had I not been home or if this was a remote project, this would have been catastrophic if the thinset was allowed to cure. Prior to installation, I provided Ramon detailed illustrated diagrams showing how the tile should be arranged and in what direction. Is this kind of step overkill? In most cases, yes, but I wanted everything to be on the record and left nothing to be assumed. We only get one shot at the floor. 2. BACKSPLASH: The stove/sink side of the backsplash had to be removed and re-done because a few of the tile sheets were installed in the wrong direction. This threw off the entire pattern in a cascading fashion. While a shocking discovery at first, Ramon took care of the problem immediately by removing the tile he had unfortunately just laid the following morning. We had to purchase replacement tile, but Ben credited us for the materials. No fault was placed on me and Ramon owned up to the mistake. -------------- Overall, I'm satisfied with my experience with Pearl. A kitchen remodel is something you do maybe once in your lifetime and I'm happy that it's finished now. read more

I used them years ago but never left a review. I was just happy to have them out of the house. Probably the worst tiling job I've ever seen. The hollow spots on the floor are everywhere. Tiles are coming loose and grout is uneven and crumbling. They also didn't cover wood doors they were meant to install and got drywall plaster on them which set into the grain and is permanent. Recessed lighting install and patch was a total mess They're on the cheap side so you get what you pay for. read more

I had a great experience with Pearl and with my project manager Izhak. Izhak was honest, caring, and very personable. He worked with me to structure the stage payments in a way that would work well for me. He made sure things were done to my liking and since I am bad at colors/designing he would make recommendations and he went shopping with me for tiles and the vanity. There were a few minor hiccups in communications for example the construction crew not knowing the dates I'd be out of town and me not knowing they were doing work on certain weekends. And rushing me to purchase a bathtub which ended up sitting for a couple weeks before getting installed. But these were minor annoyances and all in all it was a good experience and I'm happy with how my brand new bathroom turned out. This was my first major renovation: an addition to my house for a new bathroom. They did the design, plans, permits and everything in a way that was pain free for me. The owner tried calling me to "resolve" things but instead of listening to me, he continually commented on my tone for being upset (newsflash, yes I am upset with how bad of quality I received). At the point at which a customer is so upset that there's no resolution anyway, why not try listening to them and apologizing? Maybe thanking them for their feedback? Use their services if you want the owner to belittle you, if you want the general contractor to constantly ask you if you're in college and condescend to you about construction (no, I'm 30, and I studied engineering), if you want to hear excuses non-stop, and if you want subpar quality finishes. I've had Pearl do two remodel projects for us -- converting a garage into an ADU, and then doing an additional and partial remodel on our main house. I did my own research regarding this company and everything checked out good. I called their office and spoke with Jasmin and explained to her a brief detail on what my mom was looking to do for her backyard. This is the second project I've had Pearl Remodeling do at my house and they knocked it out of the park again. This time around they remodeled two bathrooms and put in a new hall closet. This was a huge load off my shoulders when dealing with such permanent decisions that comes with bathroom remodels. They were very patient and understanding as I ran into several supply issues that were out of my control during the project as well. George was the primary person on the floor that I dealt with. It's very obvious that he's had years of experience with construction. His attention to detail and his forethought allowed my wife and I to rest easy knowing that George would always be able to bring up potential issues as well as offer us solutions to issues that we were going to run into many steps down the line. I'd like to recognize that my wife and I were probably not the easiest of customers to work with as both of our professions require an extreme attention to detail and we carry this over into our everyday lives. We had previously done work on our house purchased in July 2019 and had saved the last phase for last - our kitchen and butler pantry. We were given a timeline from Izhak, based on the design he and his team helped us with, of 8-10 weeks. When work began, there was never a stop or delay. The various groups of workers that came through were all incredibly nice, respectful and adhered to wearing their masks and keeping their distance in the middle of the fall when Covid was peaking. We had a few adjustments along the way, including some design changes, and each time it was no problem for Izhak as he was patient with us, and while we could have delayed the job due to these requests, Izhak was still able to complete the work in only 7 weeks. At the time, and like during any kitchen remodel, we were working with a makeshift kitchen in the garage and were so appreciative to be able to have a functioning kitchen ready to use well before we expected. In the attached before and after pictures, Izhak's design team should also get credit for helping with the layout, the cabinet design, appliance placement and color scheme. Izhak had shown us his portfolio of kitchen remodels and we were able to use some ideas to apply to our concept. We would absolutely recommend requesting Izhak for your next project and we will not use anyone else for any projects we take on in the future. We made an appointment for a consultation for kitchen remodeling from Pearl Remodeling. Avi talked with us about our general ideas and prices and then we made an appointment to have a plan made with a full color design of the kitchen. Avi and the designer took our input, made suggestions and the designer transformed our ideas in to a computerized drawing of what the kitchen would look like. Within a day we had a price quotation and told Avi to proceed. The most outstanding feature of the project was the communication we had with Avi. All texts, emails, phone calls were responded to almost immediately - not something we find from most contractors. Everything was explained in as much detail as I requested. This applied to the project manager (Avi) as well as all the individual crews. Each crew was friendly, answered any questions I had and cleaned up before they left for the day. Everyone - project manager and crew - tried to accommodate any and all requests we had, even if not in the original plans. While we had some unexpected delays and expenses, the reasons for these were explained fully and new schedules immediately developed which were always done as planned. As our home is 50 years old, most of the extra costs were due to building code changes that had to complied with, for example all appliances now needed their own circuit breakers. This entailed lots of rewiring. While any major remodeling project involves lots of stress, seeing constant progress and having friendly people working around us, helped us cope with that stress. The project is now complete. Any major remodeling is expensive. It is not possible to completely compare costs as each contractor will have different ways of doing things with different prices. For us the cost was worth getting exactly what we wanted. Now, when we walk into the kitchen, it is exactly what we had hoped for. The kitchen is beautiful and the ease of cooking and using the space is greatly improved over what we had. I would highly recommend Pearl Remodeling and Avi as the project manager. read more

The team listened closely and respectfully to our needs and created a plan that checked all of our boxes. They communicated consistently with us throughout the whole permitting and construction process. They took our ideas and added professional input. Pearl Remodeling did a fabulous job waterproofing the balcony deck. Vlad Latman was the project manager. I received several bids to have the balcony deck replaced and waterproofed. The other contractors were in and out in 5 minutes, with a brief summary of the scope of work to be done. Vlad, on the other hand, took the time to throughly go over the steps involved and materials to be used to replace and waterproof deck. Vlad is professional, knowledgeable and eloquent. These were the attributes in addition to his integrity which made Pearl Remodeling a clear choice for my project. I had endless questions which Vlad addressed in layman's terminology. This made it easier for me to understand the technicalities involved . He also provided updates on project from start to finish. The debris was hauled away daily and job site left immaculate. Project completed on time. We did have rain following completion of balcony waterproofing. Vlad followed up with telephone call to inquire if all was ok. The deck held up beautifully, no more water leaks into garage. Vlad genuinely cares about his customers, which is a rarity in this fast paced society. Vlad is amazing and was a pleasure to work with.
