Located steps from the University of Scranton on the main drag of Mulberry Street, The Colonnade's meeting/reception rooms are beautiful as is the suite I stayed in for two nights. The original structure was built in the 1870's and it looks like much was done to preserve as much of the original woodwork, fireplaces and tile work as possible. High ceilings, curved walls, beautiful chandeliers...Joshua and Paul have returned the property to its former grandeur, yet have decorated the space with whimsy. In the Music Room, featuring an antique grand piano that came with the property, the blue walls are covered with lots of fun art work. My suite featured a separate sitting room, beautifully tiled bathroom and a separate bedroom with a king-sized bed with soft, luxurious bedding. Flat screen TV, free wifi and continental breakfast also come with the room. Several family members in town have attended functions from private baby showers to special holiday brunches at the Colonnade and report that the food and festivities were wonderful. There is parking in the back, and be forewarned - the property is off busy Mulberry Street - so for those not used to city noise should be prepared. It can be noisy in the early morning. So, while I have family I can stay with next time I'm in town, I will probably opt for staying at the Colonnade again.

My first stays in August still havent gotten it back ... they blamed it on my credit card compsny . I used to love this place . As a history buff I was fascinated . I stayed several times in the past five years ,two years ago ... and until this August everything was fine . Sure ... it smelled funky in spots, it's old . I had a nightmare experience on August 15th . I had stayed 5 nights already in August on 2 separate occasions as i spent horrific days with my dying brother at Regional Hospital. It was ok. No time to go into issues . He died ai 2:40 am on 08/15 in Hospice . Broken and exhausted with nowhere to stay i called Radisson and asked to resetve 2 nights. They had 1 toom . I got there aroimd 3:30 ... the girl was very confused as to what date it was , conputer not cooperating I was so upset i just wanted my room . I got to my room .... it smelled so bad i kept deodorant by my bedside and kept wiping it under my nose . Didn't work . I didnt sleep ... called fromt desk to see if i could switch rooms ... they said they wouldn't know what was available until check out st 11:00 but not to call until 12... nasty but obviously overwhelmed . Called at 12 she said she thought she had another room .i finally just said can i cancel the 2nd she said no problem if you come down right now . I did and they handed me a bill for 1 night and i left . I checked my charge card . I was charged 535$!!! I called today , 11days later , they said they only put a hold for 2 nights and irs not their problem its the credit card company's fault . It was just a hold not a charge . Credit card company said it was paid to them and put theough as a charge . Radisson takes no responsibilty! It will take 30-60 days to resolve this issue . And then there's that 100 for incidentals ... I have to pursue that next . But here's to the fabulously kind and efficient breakfast servers and the staff at Traxx. Most of the rooms are beautiful and history is fascinating. Sadly, it is poorly run and a blatant, scamming rip off

Amenities include a small arcade room that held a claw machine and a video game. The indoor pool is small but there are towels and seating. The gym, also small, has new equipment. An outdoor patio includes a fire pit and seating. All the public areas are clean and in good condition. I didn't look for a laundry, so check their website for that information. I booked through their app and a King Suite was eight dollars more than a King room. After traveling for several days I thought the extra space would be welcome . Definitely worth a few dollars more. The long entry into the room has enough space to set up the portable luggage rack. A wet bar in this space includes a fridge and microwave. The closet has a few hangers plus an extra blanket, iron and board. The bathroom is spacious. Plenty if counter space. Clean. Multi-use body wash, shampoo, conditioner and skin cream. Enough soft and absorbant towels for our one night stay. Ice bucket was located here as well. Next to the entryway is a couch, coffee table, small kitchen table, two chairs and a coffee maker. The King bed is further in the room, across from a luggage rack/bench, dresser and TV. A comfy seat, ottoman and desk area are by the window. Bed was comfortable. Heat control on the wall. Everything in the room was in good condition and clean. We could have checked in via the app, but chose to do so onsite. Receptionist was pleasant and the process quick. She told us what time breakfast was served as she handed us the key. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. The hotel market includes soft drinks and beers as well as snacks and microwaveable items. Breakfast hot items were sausage, biscuits and gravy. Oatmeal was instant packets instead of the crockpot cooked version. Cold cereals and break items as expected. Milk was available in one of two fridges. Coffee station is across from the food area with nice big take away cups, tea and cocoa. A pancake maker is near the coffee. A fireplace was burning during breakfast service. Several work station type seating is available in the middle of the room and smaller tables along the window wall. A staff member kept everything in order. Plenty of parking. Close enoigh to the highway and within quick driving distance of shopping, fuel and restaurants.
