I truly don't know how this place is still in business. We waited an hour just for one appetizer alone. The soup and salads didn't come out until another 30 minutes later and the soup was cold and watered down in the lobster bisque. Now that we've been here since 6:30, finally received the entrees at 8:30; and they still didn't come out all at once! If I could leave less than 1 star I would. I come from the food service industry and this is embarrassing for an establishment to charge the prices they do for the quality of the food they served. read more

The restaurant is sooo cute and retro, really old timey, and I love it. From the vintage neon signs in the window, enter into the restaurant and sit in one of the small retro booths with personal dimmable lamp. Every time I'm in here, I feel like I went back in time, in a good way. The service is always friendly and efficient. It's never too crowded (a well kept secret?) so easy to get a table. Their house chianti is tasty and not expensive. The small $6 pizzas are so good! Nice selection of pastas and other Italian food, along with desserts. The chocolate lava cake is delicious. Everything is made to order, so don't expect the food to come out super fast. They give bread and crispy little breadsticks to eat while you wait. I was in town for a wedding anniversary (not held here) and we came in for dinner. Coming from NYC, this was a really nice experience because it's the epitome of family-owned style in a small town. I asked the server all kinds of questions about the place because the room has photos of the family that's owned this place since 1938! Restaurants in NYC can't even last a few years. The chef is the son of the man who started the place, and it's all his family that works there. They had a really awesome list of wines they call "20 under $20" and we ordered from that because why not?! For food, we shared appetizers: one of their pizzas (we had it with anchovies), an order of their Zuppa di Clams (we chose white but you can get red and this was recommended by our server), and a special of shrimp with orange and thyme-- all were delicious. For the main dish I had the cod with onions and a side of broccoli and reminded me of a home-style cooked meal more than a "fancy" restaurant which was actually a lot of why I loved it. Also they had those little classic sesame breadsticks in their bread basket which are addicting. Other food on the table was a dish called "The Joe" which was (I think) haddock baked with cheese and marinara and named after the chef's son, veal parm, and "veal columbian" which was pounded veal with onions and mint. Everyone said their dishes were great! I have no idea if or when I'll be back to this town, but if I do I would eat here again for sure. read more

We were visiting from Florida in Edwardsville and went to the Gramarcy at the recommendation of a friend. Despite a near empty restaurant we were seated right next to the door of the ladies room which we didn't realize was there until the first of a parade of women had to squeeze their way past us to get into the very small restroom that opened right to the table. Two of us ordered the fish chowder which should have been called fish broth - there was one small piece of potato and a limp round of carrot in what was a tasty broth. Service was very slow; we finished the soups before the drinks including water were served. Between the six of us we ordered 5 different dishes - one pasta, two veal, two seafood, one chicken. The veal was a large portion of very thick veal scallops with very little sauce. No attempt had been made to pound them and they were very tough. Spaghetti with clams was served with a heavy red gravy (was expecting a white sauce) with the clams out of their shells mixed with the sauce. The clams tasted like canned not freshly steamed as they should have been. The first seafood dish was fried haddock which it wasn't...it was two very thin over fried pieces of flounder probable prepared from Costco. It was not freshly battered as the menu described. I realized it after the first bite but thought maybe I miss ordered. Nope, when the bill came it said Haddock. The mixed fried seafood was ok as was the chicken. Neither was something to return for. As the restaurant filled, the service worsened; We had to ask for cheese for the pasta (one of the pasta side dishes sat in about a half inched of water, apparently never drained). We had to ask for water. We had to ask for bread refills. We decided to skip dessert and stop for ice cream somewhere else. Somehow we did think dessert would be worth it, beside we didn't have an hour to wait. I have to recommend against this restaurant. read more

We recently stumbled across this charming family owned and operated food emporium in Pittston, PA while visiting friends in the area. It was delightful and delicious. The marinara sauce is authentic and perfectly balanced, clearly an old world recipe kept under lock and key. My husband devoured the broiled lobster tail, served with the perfectly cooked hand cut fries. My kids are pasta masters, they thought the linguine with clams was hands down THE best they had ever had. I highly recommend this Italian oasis in Pittston, PA, who knew? read more

The Gramercy has been the best Italian restaurant I've been to in the Greater Pittston Area. The food is always delicious, as it is homemade everyday. They have won the award for best sauce in Pittston, and they surely deserve that award. The pasta is always delicious, no matter what platter you order. The menu ranges from delicious appetizers to deluxe seafood entrees. It is also the perfect place for parties. The huge ballrooms are great for a large gathering, and the options for how the food is served is very convenient. Overall, the Gramercy is the centerpiece of Italian food in Pittston, and I highly recommend it. read more

I have just put the sign of the cross on this place. It used to be great but it has gotten sooooo sloooow. The food is still very good but I am waiting half an hour for the bread to be served to our table. This is the last time I will go to this restaurant..... To be continued........ Well the bread finally came at t-35 minutes, the salads followed five minutes after that,and the entrees ten minutes after that. Again, the food is always very good and made to order. But the wait is some times too long. We may be back but for now we will give this restaurant a rest. read more
