We moved here from Southern California 2 years ago. I knew immediately when Mrs. Mancuso answered the phone that we found our preschool for our son. She is so welcoming. The staff love the children so much. Most of them sent their own children to GVLS for school. At one point our son struggled with separation anxiety and had some behavioral issues. The staff were very patient and worked closely with us. He is thriving now. Even the Pre-K curriculum is advanced compared to the school our daughter attended in California. I found Green Valley Lutheran when my oldest daughter was just 2.5 - when we toured the school she sat right down in Mrs. Redmond's circle time and nearly refused to leave. She couldn't wait until she was able to start. We LOVE Green Valley Lutheran! We signed up our daughter last year as a newly 3 yr old (September bday). We are now in year two and she attends 3 days a week in the 3/4yr old pre-k class and loves it! She asks to go every day! She has learned so much in both Ms. b's class last year and this year with Ms. Redmond. She has the Lord's Prayer memorized and tells us all about the Bible stories she learns about every week! The school is safe, the tuition is manageable, and the staff is so friendly. I have had kids at this school since 2018. It is a local gem! My kids feel confidence and belonging. This school creates such a safe space for children and parents. The learning is creative and fun. So much of early education in public school I found to feel forced and repetitive. At Green Valley Lutheran my daughter thrives with a more joyful approach to learning with plenty of positive reinforcement. They offer a short class that not only provides a picture of the religious teaching the children will receive, but it also lowers the tuition. My husband (an atheist with no exposure to religion) was initially unsure about our youngest attending the school. He now wants to keep her there as long as possible. GVLS is amazing! I spent 10+ years working at and being a parent of a nearby "high-end" private preschool, and I only wish I would have found this place sooner. There simply are not enough great things to say about this school. Their staff is so friendly, warm and kind. There is no "corporate vibe" whatsoever. While we are not of the same Lutheran faith (different Christian denomination), my family feels truly welcomed and cared for by the teachers and administrators here. We love this school with all our hearts! A good friend referred us to GVL, and we are ever so grateful she did!! Our three children attended all the way through kindergarten. GVL is the most loving, safe, nurturing preschool there is! The staff doesn't have much turnover. In fact, the only time it changes is when someone retires. It always ends up being someone with deep connections to the preschool who takes over, meaning they are well invested in the program. What I would tell a new parent bringing their child to GVELPK as of May 2018. (It is under new leadership this year) 1. Ask to see the teaching credentials of all of the persons/teachers who will be in the classroom at any given time. You will be surprised at who literally has no college degree/certificate but a lot of charisma/the right relative and has been promoted for the latter. 2. Ask your child questions. Did your teacher make you feel special today? Did they get angry today? 3. Ask to see the policy regarding visitors or volunteers, in writing. Often the atmosphere is so "relaxed" that you will find random persons watching your children or just randomly in the classroom for no academic or religious reason. Speak up and assert your rights to know what is going on when you leave your child at GVELPK. 4. Try to volunteer at least once per semester. Not only will your child love you for it, you will be learn a great deal about the peer relationships at school. 5. Don't be afraid to give positive or negative feedback to the director or teacher. An effective director and or teacher will take your feedback and quietly and effectively address your concerns, in person. Too often the director will overcompensate with their teachers with the "I've got your back," strategy of management, which doesn't allow the root cause of the conflict to be resolved and just protects the weaker teachers. 6. Meet with the pastors. Get to know them. Management starts from the top down. 7. Meet and network with your classroom parents and appoint an unofficial "leader" who is unafraid to ask questions or express concerns, when you do not have the courage to do so. Often parents have very valid reasons for not bringing up the smallest of issues due to their particular circumstance. 8. Not all of the classes provide the same quality of education due to the quality of the instructor. Ask other parents whom they would recommend as a teacher for your child. Ask a parent who has had difficulties their opinion. Parents just know the truth of the matter and can tell you directly who is an effective teacher and who isn't. 9. Check in with your child. Make sure they are not only progressing developmentally but academically and with their religious studies. Too often one is overemphasized than the other and you will have a student who can memorize a verse but doesn't keep up with their peers, academically. 10. Remember you have choices in Henderson. Just like in life, there are people in all professions who put the gas on the pedal and people who coast in their jobs. Most people want a quality instructor who will not give up on their students, academically. Too often as parents, we are too tired to raise our concerns or just pick our battles very carefully with the best possible predictive outcome (i.e. no drama). Most facilities, are counting on you to not speak up. read more

I toured close to 20 schools before picking a preschool for my daughter (YES, I am THAT mom). and the second I walked in to this school I was sold, after about 5 minutes of being there. The staff, the energy, the positive influence of Christ is so preeminent throughout the entire school. I enrolled my child right away. My daughter is very shy, closed off, and sensitive, but sooo smart beyond her years. This was the perfect place to nurture all the strengths and help overcome any weaknesses. I cannot express enough gratitude for the entire school, and all the staff/teachers. I drive 30 minutes out of my commute each way to drop my daughter off to school and its worth every mile.
