Electronic Recycling with a Mission I noticed Green Vision Inc. while visiting ReStore as they share building space. The signage said that they offered electronic recycling. I looked Green Vision up online and was happy to find that they are a full service electronics dismantler. In addition, their mission is to provide individuals with developmental disabilities the opportunities to work and learn in real life job situations. Sounds great on paper, time to check it out in person since I had a few electronics items that could be recycled. I arrived today at around 3:30pm and walked into Suite 300 and made my way to the back office just to the right of the shop entrance. I asked if I was in the right place for electronics recycling and was greeted with smiles and advised by Tim that I was. I explained that I had a few computer monitors, a CD player, some remotes, a humidifier, and a small child toy to recycle. I was told no problem and that a cart would be sent out to collect the electronics. Everything was verified recyclable and free to donate. The cart was loaded up with all the recyclables and we were all set. Easy mode! While getting my son in the car, I realized that we forgot to check if we left any rechargeable batteries in his recycled toy. I went back in, found the toy in the cart and asked if it would be okay to check if any batteries were left inside of it. Tim told us no problem and got a screwdriver and asked if my son would like to open it up after putting the screwdriver in place. This got a huge smile from my son and he happily opened up the battery door. Batteries found and we were happily on our way. Tim and his team were great to work with and I will think of Green Vision Inc. first when I am in need of Electronic Recycling in the Morris County area. read more

This company provides a wonderful, noble, and much-needed service to the community through their commitment to providing employment to adults who would otherwise be considered too disabled to work. Tim, the company president, is a wonderful person with tremendous compassion who truly cares about the great things he does through his organization. I used to volunteer there and Tim was always very kind to me throughout my time there. Unfortunately, however, I cannot say the same about some of his staff, especially about a woman named Melissa who works at the front desk. I have Asperger's, a condition that puts me on the mild end of the autism spectrum. Having this condition means social awkwardness comes with the territory. But this is why I found volunteering there so fulfilling. I was surrounded by people who I believed accepted me for who I am. While I was there I did my part to make the client workers feel accepted and appreciated for who they are and whatever contributions they can make. Then a few months before I stopped volunteering there I made a social mistake caused in large part by my Asperger's that initially caused some of the staff to feel uncomfortable around me. As a result Tim had to ask me to take a break from volunteering. I went back when Tim told me I could and he had resolved the issue completely as far as he could see, thus allowing me to continue volunteering. Tim and his staff, with the exception of Melissa, were all able to put the incident behind them. Melissa, on the other hand, began acting coldly towards me and actively undermining Tim's decision to allow me to continue volunteering. She even had the audacity to falsely accuse me of attempting to undermine Tim's authority! Then when Tim became ill he granted decision-making power to Melissa who exploited the opportunity to tell me I could no longer volunteer there. This should raise some serious concerns because most, if not all, of their client workers are much more severely disabled than I am. If Melissa or any of Tim's staff will behave this way towards me over a social mistake attributed to my developmental disability, there is no telling what could happen when their client workers act inappropriately according to neurotypical social standards. read more
