Just finished up a job with these junk haulers in NJ and can give them two thumbs up for the work, done quickly and efficiently, plus an extra two hands' worth of thumbs for Roman and his team's go-with-the-flow attitude when faced with the hurdle of unexpected limited elevator access and cross-over with plumbers and Taskrabbits doing other work in the same spot. It wasn't an easy move! Their final price (based on # of trucks & helpers needed) was in line with what I've paid for other similar home-clearing jobs, too. He also was honest about what might / might not be able to be donated, which was refreshing. Interestingly, we were given their name by another NJ hauler that we've used in the past, and had an excellent experience with, but who didn't service this northern area. They must have a good rep in the junk-hauling community. read more

It could not have been any easier! I requested a quote online and within 20 minutes they got back to me, and soon after, we agreed on a price and time. They showed up on time, and got right to work. I called the Junkin Irishman to remove some old furniture from my house before a recent move. They didn't bring any moving blankets or anything else to protect the floors and decided using an eggcrate we had on one of our mattresses would do the trick. They ended up causing $4000 worth of damage to the floors which we had to pay our buyers. Jim, the owner, is refusing to pay us for these damages and now I'm having to sue him to try to get my money back. Do yourself a favor and find a more professional company for your junk removal needs. read more

Very happy with choosing the Junkin Irishman! Loved how easy it was setting up an appointment by text. They did have a couple issues keeping both the quote and removal appointments - but was not a big deal. Their quote was $100 less than the other guys so the choice was simple. I had a garage full of junk from renovating a few rooms. 5 stars are not enough for this company. Not only the best in their business, but so far the best contractor that we have dealt with (and we have dealt with many). Immediate response time, very reasonable quote, great customer service, and amazing work. A very honest company led by the owner Jim, whom I dealt with throughout the entire process. I even added a few things to be done once they got to my house and they didn't jack up the price. Jim even contacted me after to make sure we were happy with the service. Jim McKinney, Owner of Junkin’ Irishman Hi, I’m Jim McKinney, founder and owner of Junkin’ Irishman—a family-owned junk removal company serving Northern New Jersey since 2004. It all started as a part-time gig while I was a full-time IT manager raising two young kids (kids are expensive!). Juggling a white-collar job with blue-collar junk hauling was quite the adventure, but it fueled my passion. In 2017, after 15 years of building it on the side, I went full-time. Soon after, my son Dylan graduated high school and joined the team, adding new energy. Now, with crew members Roman and Johnny, we handle every job with care. We treat your home like our own, arrive on time every time (no vague windows), and accept all payment forms for maximum flexibility. Mikula was the largest company and I located them with a Google search. The other two contractors I found by word of mouth. Mikula's estimate was the most competitive and once they started the job they worked continuously to completion. They demolished a 4500 square-foot house with concrete basement, a four car garage with attached clubhouse and an in-ground reenforced concrete, swimming pool. The operators of the excavating equipment were highly skilled and easy to communicate with at all times. Scheduling was accomplished through office personnel who were very knowledgeable and responsive. There were no glitches in the entire operation--from estimating the job to obtaining permits to completion. In fact, the quality of the work was so impressive, I hired Mikula to build a rock wall around the perimeter of a pond on my property and install a French drain to divert surface water. This second job was completed in 2 1/2 days and the results were impressive. This is a company that has earned its reputation for excellence and the machine operators and laborers obviously take pride in their work. Plus, Mikula owns most of the equipment used on the job--excavators, dozers, skid steer machines dump trucks and trailers - -so the company is not dependent on others to get the job done. My clean out required coordination between 2 homes and a fumigation of one. The team of 3 emptied (including removing wall to wall carpet), cleaned and sanitized a 2 bedroom apartment, and moved clean furniture from another home (45 minutes away) into the now freshened home. The Junkin Irishman team was great to work with from the start. They were responsive when I contacted them initially for pricing. Jim stopped by and gave me an estimate knowing that I would not need their services for a few months out. He was very friendly and professional and had empathy about my situation (clearing out my childhood home now that both my parents are deceased). On the day of the house clear out, the team provided unbelievable service and worked very hard. The entire house was cleaned out in a few hours. Our company needed to clean out one of our offices--large wooden desk, large sofabed, oversized chair and ottoman; very large OLD printer; heavy table; old TV; old printer; old elliptical machine and other misc items we threw in at the last minute. Cleaning out parental home (60yrs of stuff). Sister found JunkinIrishman online - wanted to hire on name alone. Jim was prompt, acommodating and thorough. Roman & crew came to the house on time, moved everything out & into trucks (no fuss, no damage to walls, stairs, etc) They even folded up boxes from the shredding guy. Gave me a great quote and showed up less than 24 hours later to remove a large, heavy, portable basketball hoop that was collapsing.
