Eric came to our home about noon today because water was dripping out of our LG refrigerator and we…read morecalled them to take a look at it. We had completed a manual defrost twice in two weeks and water was still building up under the basket in the bottom of the freezer. Eric came in and got right to work, within 15 minutes. He had all kinds of pieces laying on the floor and he diagnosed it as the drain line being frozen up, not clogged. He was able to get it back together and working again, even less than an hour. part of the problem is we had the temperature set too low. We were very impressed.

Less than six months later, the replacement ice maker failed because of defective internal gearing. The part itself was covered under the manufacturer's warranty, and once again the technician completed the repair in less than 15 minutes. My issue isn't with the technicians or the quality of their service--it was with Duncan's billing policy. I was charged $289 for what amounted to a quick replacement of a warranty part that was known to be defective. While the manufacturer covered the replacement part, Duncan only warranties its labor for 90 days. After that, customers are responsible for the full labor charge, even when the failure is caused by a defective part that Duncan installed. In many cases, service companies can seek reimbursement from the manufacturer for warranty labor, yet I was still billed the full amount. I understand that businesses have overhead, technicians deserve to be paid, and service calls cost money. I was prepared to pay a fair and reasonable charge. However, $289 for a 15-minute repair on a warranty replacement part that failed in less than six months feels excessive. What was most disappointing was the lack of willingness to discuss or reconsider the charge when I raised my concerns. A little flexibility or customer goodwill would have gone a long way. Based on this experience, I will not be using Duncan again. If you're considering them, be aware that while they stand behind their labor for only 90 days, you may still face significant labor charges if a replacement part fails shortly after that period.

We're so grateful we found Reid's Home Repair for our big basement refinish project - great work…read moreand great humans! Our home was built in 1913 and gut rehabbed in 2024. However, the basement was not finished, but had rough-in plumbing installed. We were looking for someone to finish the basement (4 rooms total), including adding an additional bedroom with closet and full bathroom. This included all electrical, plumbing, framing, drywall, door installation, flooring, trim, and painting. Mike was quick to respond to my original inquiry, come check out the space, and provide a quote. He was timely, friendly, and easy to collaborate with. We changed our mind a few times on final design - we appreciate how patient he was with us while we narrowed in on the final plan. The final quote was very detailed and he provided helpful information on the areas for potential cost increase (given that the home is old and there could have been unexpected things identified after work begun). This helped us set our expectations for the project. During the project, he kept us up to date on progress or concerns and kept the area very clean (ensuring very little debris made its way outside the basement into our home). He managed all of the subcontractors (electric, plumbing, carpet, etc) so we didn't need to worry about a thing. Made it super easy by having one point of contact! His work speaks for itself. There were a lot of difficult aspects of the basement to figure out (i.e. uneven walls and ceilings, tricky vents or pipes along the ceiling, water/electrical shutoffs needing to be accessible, etc), but he managed to turn the space into exactly what we were looking for. The attention to detail makes all the difference! In the end, the project took about two months (including carpet installation) and final cost was in line with the estimate. I'd recommend Reid's Home Repair to anyone!

So I totally understand that one's version of clean does not equal the same as another's... I TRULY…read morewas going to just pay the dang invoice and move on until I got another disturbing email from this "company". So from the start, I was really excited because the person I had spoken with seemed to be very level headed and business oriented... Only to arrive home feeling COMPLETELY deflated. I requested a "move-in" clean. I advised that the townhome had been unoccupied for a few years. I advised that our things were in the home but I needed a good once over before I felt comfortable putting things away... I can say FOR SURE two things were done that are listed on the contract... The toilets were gross from hard water and they were sparkling clean after. My oldest child's bathroom was clean, floors clearly mopped... Cabinets... ummm... and then I went to warm up take out for my son... VERY communal microwave in the office. My tub.. nope. Vents dusted, (even though they are sited in the quote)... Nope. Doors wiped down? You guessed it... NOPE. Despite how upset I was I tried nicely to convey that the invoice needed adjustment. I was met with begging to come play around in my home (no thanks), then gaslighted to try to believe that I can't read or see either. THEN LEGIT arguing with this lady about messaging me at odd hours of the night. The most basic understanding of consumer law states that even collection agencies can only correspond during certain hours. Only for me today to decide that it's not worth the wasted energy... Only for I guess her to pretend the interaction didn't happen yesterday??? This is truly the strangest, most disappointing interaction with a small business owner I have EVER had. She made very strange and incorrect statements about my financial status ASSUMING I would not be able to cover the bill, my knowledge of business practices, education level and... HEAVENS! See photos below.
