    HO HO HO!!

One of the best campsites we have been to. Clean well laid out and peaceful. It might have helped that we went during off season period in December but we were impressed. Very clean showers and amenities. If we come we will stay here again!!

We selected our two campsites side by side so that our two families could be together. (We ended up having to select the highest priced campsites in order to get two together.) When we got there, they had given our sites away, and had us on opposite ends of the campground! They stated that we did not pay the extra money to secure our campsite. Who does that? We paid almost $150 a night per site to get two sites together! How would giving our sites away have even come up! This is extortion! This campground is extremely noisy. The field in front of us had a blow up bouncy house slide! Talk about ruining the camping ambiance! The bathrooms are nice.

All I can say is WOW! The location- WOW! The view- WOW! The service-WOW! Even the check in and check out was flawless. This place is gorgeous. Campsites were perfectly level- hooking up was a breeze. Already made another reservation. Can't wait!

Campsite 27. Premium river campsite. We really enjoyed this campground, it was in the shallower side of the river, and was beautiful. Very close to the swimming hole but not obtrusive. The swimming hole is a cold mountain stream. There is an area for tubing. Playground is very nice. Water pressure is good, electric is 50 amp and solid. WiFi is very good, we were able to run a fire stick without problems. Cell coverage is sketchy, but who cares. We absolutely plan on returning to this campground. They have tubes and firewood available at the camp store. Check in was easy. Setup was easy, our site was close to level, our Anderson levelers had us level in 2 minutes. Hosts made sure that 10 pm was quiet time. The only noise was from the people at the resort across the river. Lots of activities from Smoky Mountain Ministries. They aren't obtrusive if you are not religious.

A true gem in the bustling Gatlinburg area. Our campsite was right in the river. The bathrooms were clean and PRIVATE! The river was fun to go tubing. Definitely deserves a repeat visit!

The beach area was wonderful! The water was both shallow for the little ones and had deeper areas for swimming. Tubing was awesome!

I can think of only MINOR reasons to give this location a rating less than 5 stars for an RV location. GREAT folks to deal with, a nice store for things you forgot, check in was quick and efficient, site was clean (ok, a half dozen cigarette butts, hardly noticeable). The beach site was sweet! Wonderful play area for the children. VERY level campsite, lessens the time to set up! For some reason the water didn't come on so I called to see if they had accidentally turned it off. Maintenance was onsite pronto - the problem was with the trailer, I guess, but the gentleman acted as if it were his pleasure to come out! Highly recommend.

What a cool place! We really enjoyed ourself and the creek was amazing. Great place to just let the kids roam. Nice covered pavilion with grills and an outdoor sink. Nice community fire pit. When we where there they had blow up bouncy houses and that was amazing! That would be a cool addition if they kept that during the summer. The kids loved it. They have some Rvs to rent along with neat tents and a cabin in the creek. The watering hole has a neat rock to jump off of.

This was our family's first RV trip, and first visit to the Smokey Mountains. We are so impressed with Greenbrier, and are talking about returning next year. My 8 year old son was constantly exploring the woods and creek behind our site, looking for crawdads and skinks. My 12 year old was happy to have fast and reliable WIFI when we were relaxing at our site at night. I was thrilled to have spacious and clean bathrooms and washer/dryer. We all enjoyed the swimming area, too! The staff here are very friendly and helpful. Truly a remarkable experience here. Bring your bicycles--when exiting the campground turn left on Pittman Center road, take that to Hills Creek Road and turn left, go through Emerts Cove covered bridge, then follow that road until you come back to East Parkway. A beautiful and safe ride to take you to the Greenbrier Road entrance to the park, which is a must see! (Photo attached was taken at Greenbrier Road, Smokey Mountains National Park)

We had the best time staying at Greenbrier last week. We went tent camping and stayed on the island. Our site was amazing, right in the river! The staff was friendly and the camp store had everything needed, and more. The camp hosts were great. They rode on a golf cart and offered rides to campers who were out at the island anytime they came through. They warned us about storms and even offered to allow us to move our site into the main campground, which we declined. But, they made it clear that we could contact them if anything was needed. The facilities were very nice, possibly recently updated, and were well kept. There was a game room with a TV that had many channels and games were free. We were away from our site for most of our stay, hiking and doing other activities, but had we been around our campsite more, there would have been so much to do to occupy ourselves. I highly recommend this campground, and will definitely be returning the next time we are in the area.

Great campground! Our site was right beside the river...beautiful. Individual bathrooms with shower, sink & toilet. Plenty of activities for the kids.

There's a swimming pool, arcade, laundry, and a store onsite, which makes it convenient for families and longer stays. The RV sites are a bit close together, but we didn't have any trouble backing our 34' 5th wheel into our spot. We stayed right by the river, which was beautiful, though the site did slope toward the water. It looks like most of the riverfront sites are similar, so bringing extra blocks is a good idea. The non‑river sites with concrete pads looked level, and the gravel pads seemed well maintained too. Each site comes with a picnic table, fire ring, and full hookups. There's a hotel across the river, but it didn't bother us at all. Overall, we were happy with our stay--the location is great, the park is clean, and the amenities are solid. We'd definitely recommend Camp RiversLanding to anyone visiting Pigeon Forge, especially if you want to be close to the river.

There is even a trolly stop to get into town from the front entrance. The weekend we were there, it was packed. Even so, the site was easy enough to back into. Tons of campers had their TVs out to watch the game and grilling, but there was little noise and noting disturbed us inside our rig. Kids enjoyed the pool and having fun while many families rented the facilities golf carts to get around the camp. The Bad: The campground is way more packed and has smaller sites than what the photos indicate. You will find it to be congested, especially on the weekends. Also, some sites to not have a dumping capability, you will need to dump at a common site when leaving. All and all, we will certainly be coming back.

Thanks to Google Maps (and my thorough trip itinerary planning), I had discovered the historic…read more(once a) "ghost town" of Elkmont. For America's most visited national park, it can be difficult to escape the crowds within the Great Smoky Mountains--yet Elkmont is one place to do just that! This Little River Valley was once home to a pioneer Appalachian community, a logging town, and later a resort community. To this day, old relics and abandoned buildings from the past remain--awaiting to be explored. The area was settled in the 1840s as the town of Little River when a logging company was formed. A railroad was later constructed to transport timber for the Little River Lumber Company. This eventually allowed the wealthy from Knoxville to visit what eventually became a resort town. When the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was was established in 1934, residents were given the option to sell their homes at full price and relocate, or sell to the National Park Service (NPS) for a discounted price allowing them to live there until they become deceased. By 1992, most of the homes remained vacant or with expired leases leading 70+ historic buildings into a state of deterioration. Thankfully the NPS decided to renovate and preserve 19 buildings in Elkmont for public visitation. You can now find the Elkmont Historic District with cabins along Jakes Creek Road that were completed around 1997. They attempted to keep the buildings in the closest original condition--even their exterior paint colors! Each cabin has information about the tenants and any unique features. Unfortunately, the cabins cannot be brought up to code for renting or staying inside. However, the largest lodge known as the Appalachian Club is available as an event venue. Continue to explore the Old Elkmont Cemetery up a rocky road near the beginning of Elkmont Road, or choose to hike the Jakes Creek or Little River Trails where you will venture past less discovered old chimneys, walls and tractors that still remain. Directions: Coming from Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge or Cherokee, turn to go west on Fighting Creek Gap Road toward Cade's Cove (turn off near the Sugarlands Visitor Center). After the Laurel Falls trailhead, watch for signs to Elkmont Campground. Follow Elkmont Road all the way til it becomes a loop drive at Jakes Creek Trail Trailhead.
