The tax prep person where I am currently located gave a projection of owing a ton of money to uncle sam. I decided to search on Yelp for someone more credible and found these awesome people/company to work with. Highlights are: 1. Very responsive, lightning fast reply's 2. Reachable via email, phone 3. Quick to review documents 4. Quick to set up a final appointment 5. All done virtually through a secure system that is user friendly 6. So this is the first year I owned a business (LLC) and was looking to get help and hopefully find…read morean accountant for the future. Now I'll be the first to say, I'm pretty lost with profit/losses and book keeping, as I said it's my first time. For the past 8 years I've just used TurboTax for personal, but as I said, first time with a business. Initially you talk with someone over a chat, they ask you questions and you answer them and send them forms. They said they could do my profit/losses for me for about $75 extra, I was fine with it, figured it was worth learning how to do it. Took about a month but finally had my appointment to talk over video (30min). They were 6min late and obviously very tired. I truly felt bad for Yuliya as she seemed so exhausted. We spent the first 18min looking at the Dept. of Washington tax site and she was showing me how to fix my prior quarterly tax filings because she felt I had labeled my business incorrectly. After I showed her what I was doing, she changed her mind and said "I think you're actually fine and doing it right". So that left us 6 minutes to rush through my tax return before her next appointment. In the end I spent $350 to save $3 (the difference in number between what I got in TurboTax vs. having it done by Nationwide). For me, if I would have learned something about better tax reporting for the LLC, it would have been worth it. But it just felt very rushed, very impersonal and honestly I'd rather just go back to doing it myself.

Came here to avoid going to a commercialized place like H&R block. I'm from out of state and thus…read morehad to do 2 state tax returns, which i figured would be complicated. There weren't a lot of the yelp reviews for tax services, so i figured I'd write one. I called to schedule an appointment for my partner and I, which didn't take long as tax season has just started. When we arrived, check in took about 10mins, which didn't seem too bad. Our preparer was Yana, a nice enough young woman. It took our preparer half an hour to log in to their system, but i suppose that may have been out of her control. Once started we let her know we just moved from another state and that we'd have to file in both states. She got started and asked us a few questions and that was it. She didn't really let us know what was going on and if she had any questions, she would ask the owner, David. I knew our taxes were going to be a bit more complicated than the usual taxes she works on, but being new to the state and oblivious to taxes, i was hoping she would at least be a little more transparent with us so we can learn about what was going on. Finally she asked us for about 10 signatures, on the first one, we asked what we were signing and she said, " it's so I can begin processing your taxes." Fair enough. On the second, we asked again. She said, "same thing, it's for the taxes." Mind you, she was not showing us her screen or anything. All we had before us was a 3x8" digital signature pad and her description of what we were signing. At this point, i was onto her and was not doing my signature, just long horizontal slashes on the pad. Once she finished, i asked for print outs of what we signed and a breakdown of the costs. We were charged a lot, but again, i figured it was the dual state taxes. We arrived 2hrs before closing and left 1 hour after. We probably spoke 5 times in that whole duration and we left questioning everything and honestly, feeling robbed. So I got home and reviewed the signatures. Most of them were standard federal forms that I've signed before, but about 3 or 4 of them were about consenting to sell my information to third parties. I was angry because she didn't tell us that at all. The next day, i received a call saying I had to go back in to re-sign because they found they made an error and couldn't submit my documents. I went in and i asked her to retract the other signatures, but it was too late for my partner, because her taxes had been submitted. So she said we can just cancel the spam texts, or if they're calls, just ignore them. So that's great. Long story short, we went to the H&R block on Division and Burnside and worked with Dana for a "second look." She was wonderful, and let us know everything she was doing and even had a second monitor for us to see. She let us know everything Yana did was correct, but that they overcharged us. Lesson learned for next year. Be forewarned. DO NOT sign anything without them showing you.

Now I know why…read more While I did not have issues with the Enrolled Agent who actually prepared my 2023 taxes, I did have an issue with the owner. She did not respond to numerous emails nor did she return numerous calls. When I finally reached her, she failed to take responsibility for the firm's error. Details: I left their offices on April 4, 2024 with taxes completed (or so I thought) and envelopes they provided pre-addressed to the IRS with instructions on how to make required quarterly payments. At the check-out desk, I asked if that was everything I needed to do and was told "yes." On May 29, I received notices from the City of Portland (Multnomah County Preschool and Metro Supportive Housing) for overdue balances (plus penalty and interest) totaling $4,695.03. Of that, $610.03 was due to penalties and interest. I paid but then started my attempts to contact the firm to find out why I had not been advised about these charges and/or given additional envelopes to submit my payments. It was not until JULY that I was actually connected with the owner, "Kristi," who was rude, long-winded, and dismissive. Her best offer was a $200 credit on the next two years of tax preparation. (Obviously I will not be going back!) Instead of the $610 penalty and interest I was charged by Portland, I said -- as a compromise -- I would accept $400 in cash. She responded "no," that she had "a business to run" and hung up. I lost $600 and lots of time. I was treated rudely and unfairly. I do not recommend this business.

Second preparer was a mumbling stumbling fool who couldn't answer any of my questions. Both of these freaks claimed to be former auditors. Yikes! The icing on the cake was when I spoke with a woman who claimed to be an owner/manager. Her phony concern was betrayed by her crazy and very odd demeanor and the lack of follow-up. Her breath smelled like a sewer. Beware of this firm. It seems like they have grown way past their competencies.
