I'm deeply frustrated with this clinic and I'm so glad I switched. First off, they told me that…read morethey don't take my insurance and I had to pay out of pocket. That's fine, not everyone is in network, but the way they said it made me think that I have zero fertility coverage, not just that they specifically aren't covered (the clinic I switched to DOES accept my insurance). I should have checked with my insurance but they definitely should have been more clear. Anyway, so every time I had an appointment I checked out at the front desk and asked what we owe. My intention was to pay out of pocket as we went, every single time. Yet after my first and only failed IUI, we were told we had a surprise $700 bill. I repeatedly asked to speak with the finance team that never called me back. Also, after the failed IUI, I didn't get a SINGLE phone call or message in the portal indicating sympathy. Nothing whatsoever, just something to the effect of "let us know when you want to come in again". We pay thousands of dollars out of pocket and you can't leave one voicemail saying we're so sorry this didn't work? Nothing?! And instead just "hey you owe us another $700" I'll leave a single star because their front desk person seemed nice.

Regardless of what they tell you you will owe or what is covered by insurance, do not believe them. Get absolutely everything pre approved in writing down to individual tests and visits even when they tell you they are covered because they will fall back on a general waiver they force you to sign at the beginning. They take no responsibility in providing accurate cost estimates and will absolutely blame you for their lies. We were told that we would have no costs for a given cycle and even with insurance coverage for the procedure, they claimed that we should have known that they were not contracted by the insurance provider for the specific treatment. When we asked for the contract details, which would have been the only way to know this in advance and determine that their guidance was wrong, they refused and said it was private. So their position is that even if they tell us something wrong and provide a service they are not contracted to provide, it is on us to know the truth they refuse to disclose and because we signed a waiver, they can charge us anything they want. Do not go to this clinic. If you do, don't trust any numbers they say or quote. And get ready for the most irresponsible and unprofessional example of exploiting patients.

Through a very stressful time in my life they were always following up, very organized and prompt with setting up appointments and welcoming me into the office, which I appreciated as a working woman trying to accomplish this around her work schedule. Several years ago my sister did three rounds of egg retrievals for me and my partner. Again, medically, everything went fine and we're happy with the results we got. But the company's ability to process logistical operations is mind numbingly absent. We were constantly given information at the last minute. There were so many preventable delays in the process. Any time I needed to ask anybody a question it felt like pulling teeth to get information and there is no point person who is overseeing everything for you. I was always calling a phone number and having to explain complicated things to a new person. Notes were rarely, if ever, taken. I once offered to buy them a notebook where they could write things down - which was laughed at, and unfortunately not a joke. At one point they referred my partner and my sister to two different genetic testing clinics and then made me fight them to comp the cost of the bill for this having to be redone because of their mistake. I could write pages and pages documenting encounters like this. This was all years ago and I somehow managed to put my anger aside and not write this review because I was just happy to be done with it. But here I am years later trying to move my eggs to a new clinic to create embryos (because over my dead body would I continue to work with this company) and they're making it just as complicated on the way out as it was on the way in. I called in this week to ask a simple question - "where are my eggs currently located and who is the contact person I can put my transport team in contact with to have them picked up?". This is apparently a difficult question for them to answer. It took three days for someone to call me back and tell me I need to schedule an appointment with a separate department in TWO MONTHS to get this information. I asked for direct contact information for somebody I could be in touch with to oversee expediting this. They had nothing to offer me. Nothing is simple here and I'm already exhausted by how hard I know I'm going to have to fight to get my own eggs out of this company's hands in the coming weeks/months. A part of me feels bad leaving one star because, again, I do think the doctors we dealt with were good. The individual people within the company are nice enough - but there is no communication between departments and individuals. It's like everything falls off into a void. The corporate structure around the medical team is one of the most incompetent and careless systems I've ever encountered. I paid too much money to be treated this way. Fertility journeys are stressful and emotional - even when you're being treated well. I wish I could go back in time and tell myself to do more research before picking a clinic. I've already found a new clinic to make embryos with and have been very quickly able to confirm what I always suspected - It doesn't have to be this hard.

I was told upfront that they were in-network with my UHC Empire Plan. Based on that, I moved forward with testing. After claims were processed, I found out that while office visits were partially covered, imaging done in the same office by the doctor was billed out-of-network and denied. That was never clearly explained to me beforehand. For context, I've been to two IVF clinics while living in Florida and used the same NYC insurance. Both of those clinics gave me a full breakdown before I even met the doctor -- what insurance would cover, what might not be covered, and realistic out-of-pocket estimates. That level of transparency made a huge difference. I didn't get anything close to that here. A good example of the communication issues: the cost of my husband's sperm analysis was never brought up proactively. I only learned about it because I specifically asked during the appointment scheduling call. If I hadn't asked, it would have come as a surprise at the appointment. I also know my insurance would have covered that service if the clinic were truly in-network. This is just one example of how things are handled. When I started asking questions, I got vague answers. I was told they would "eat the cost" of denied claims, but nothing was put in writing. At the same time, I was told I'd still be responsible for larger procedures and testing. When I asked for clear pricing, I was told costs depend on what insurance pays, which made it difficult to understand what I'd actually be responsible for. The financial responsibility meeting was also uncomfortable. Asking basic questions seemed to annoy the person I was speaking with. When I spoke to a supervisor, the tone felt dismissive and there was no acknowledgment that I had been told they were in-network in the first place. Also, none of the phone calls are recorded, so there's no way to go back and verify what was said. I do want to say the nursing staff at the Staten Island office are absolutely wonderful. They were kind, patient, and supportive every time I interacted with them -- truly the best part of my experience. Dr. Peter has a calm bedside manner, but I personally found it hard to fully trust the guidance when there didn't feel like there was alignment between what was being emphasized to me and the overall approach. For me, that consistency matters when I'm making important health and financial decisions. Fertility treatment is already stressful enough. The last thing patients need is confusion around insurance and billing. Clear, upfront information should be standard before starting any testing. If you're considering this clinic, I would strongly recommend: getting everything in writing regarding what is actually in-network asking for a full itemized cost breakdown upfront confirming how imaging, labs, and procedures are billed I wish I had done that before starting here.

Throughout my journey I appreciated their patient education, empowerment, and support so I could make informed decisions about my care. I like that my prenatal visits were longer than I could expect with an ob and that they provided a binder for me to bring with assigned homework each visit. Rather than having a "birth plan" (because they usually don't go as planned anyway) we were encouraged to think about our hopes and dreams. Everyone I've met here from the nurse midwives, nurse practitioners, lactation consultants, the clinical director, etc. have all been wonderful to me and if I could do it all over again I would have become a patient here sooner. I had many questions along the way so I'm going to be detailed here so others may know what to expect. Before you can become a patient here you have to attend a seminar to learn more about their midwifery model of care, the differences between a birth in their suites vs. at Bryn Mawr Hospital nearby (you can plan to deliver there or there may be reasons you are transferred there the day of, the nurse midwife on call has the clearance to deliver there), postpartum care, and next steps to become a patient. After attending the seminar, I had to sign a medical release forms to have my records transferred from my previous provider before I could schedule any appointments. They have two locations (Bryn Mawr and South Philly) and prenatal visits could be with the same provider or different providers. The first prenatal visit is longer and billed separately while the rest of the appointments are billed to insurance together under their global plan after delivery (not after each appointment). During my regular prenatal visits they measured my fundal height and would feel my bump for the baby's position while estimating weight (they were pretty good at that)! I had to pay for lab tests and non-stress tests separately. While I had to do my formal ultrasounds elsewhere, they had the equipment to do informal ultrasounds just to check on the health of the baby and seemed to be training their staff to do these more. I was required to schedule several classes to prepare for childbirth (series of 4 classes), about lactation essentials, and about navigating your first days at home after birth. The instructors really encourage asking questions and participation, so it was helpful to have this intimate space for that. The dates and cost of these classes are available on their site but you can't schedule them until you're confirmed as a patient. After your delivery they will follow up with you (home visit if you delivered at the birth center or phone call if you delivered at the hospital). There will be a 6-weeks postpartum visit to examine you and make sure your body is recovering but also to check on your mental health (so necessary and important)! They also have weekly lactation support and new parent support groups that were happening on Zoom, I think they are also now offering in-person options too. I could tell from the session I went to that the other families really found this space helpful and were wanting to offer encouragement to newer parents like me while sharing about their knowledge/experience. Cara, one of the lactation consultants, facilitates the virtual groups and is amazing! I hope all this information helps anyone who is considering becoming a Lifecycle patient because the last thing a pregnant woman should have to worry about is the quality of care she is receiving.
