I go to school here and the school has bunches of artwork and statues all over the school. The marble floors are beautiful and the whole school in general is really nice. I like going to this school. I know that you're not supposed to be writing a review for a place you've worked at. Now I've never technically worked at Manchester High School as an employee of the school. But I have officiated a couple of their football games in the past. So that's what I'm going to base the review on. Now because Manchester is so far from the city, there aren't a lot of officiating crews that are willing to make that drive. But as we were a new crew trying to make a name for ourselves, we put the word out that we were willing to go anywhere and Manchester gave us a call. Ended up working two games for them last season. This is a school that knows how to treat officials. For starters they put us in a large dressing room with showers. Which is nice, considering some schools stick us in little more than a closet, which can be tight with five guys, three of whom are a bit on the larger side (which would include me). There were multiple showers so we didn't have to wait and take turns, and the water was hot. As for the game itself, it's pretty standard during halftime for the hosting school to have either water or a Gatorade and sometimes a hot dog from the concession stand for the officials. That happened here. Pretty standard. What wasn't standard was what they had waiting for us after the game. A giant box with one hot dog, one hamburger and one slice of pizza for each of us. Plus two Gatorades and one soda for each of us as well. Awesome!!!! Seeing as how much of an appetite you work up when you're officiating a game, and seeing that Manchester is in the boondocks with no place to eat anywhere close, it was very much appreciated. Another big plus was the pay day. Usually officials have to fill out a pay voucher and you might not see a check from the school until a few days, sometimes a few weeks, and sometimes even a few months after the game. At Manchester you fill out the voucher and they write you a check right there. More awesome! The only sorta, kinda negative is the actual playing field. Manchester just restarted their football program about three years ago after some time off (a couple of decades I believe). And because of that, it's not the best field. Our second game last year was in the middle of rain and it had been raining the entire day as well. By the time we got there, the field was a giant mud pit. Water up to the middle of your calf. Could barely walk, much less run. Bleccchhh! But overall, Manchester High School is a good school that treats the refs well. We have a game there this week, and I can't begin to explain how excited I am. Mahalo, and enjoy.

I went to watch a mock dance competition in the auditorium and WOW.. this school is huge, and amazing. I'm guessing if they put this much money into the school, the staff has to be top notch. It's a beautiful school with amazing and clean facilities. The auditorium was large and it felt as if I should be paying an admission to come and watch this event here. There was a swim meet going on the same day, and I couldn't believe they had a pool inside the school. It was packed upstairs so I can only imagine what that area looked like. If you are heading to the school for an event, I'd say you are in for a nice surprise.

I went back to Upper Arlington High School pool and lap lanes are in a different way than the other…read moreway because it is 25-meter by 25-yard pool with 10-11 lanes. I had a great swim coming back to Sunday Swim at UAHS. The Upper Arlington Parks and Recreation now has slots for 1 or 2 pm swims because of popular demand when registering online or by phone and still a great value $3 for residents or $4 non-residents with the $1 convenience fee when paying online. Still would like having the whole 2 hours and and adding 3-5 pm options. Just a thought.

I went to see the Cincinnati Men's Chorus 2018 holiday show (courtesy of Yelp - thank you!). The space was absolutely fantastic. I love the regal feel of the old theater architecture: it's a hybrid of Neo-Classical meets Art Deco: simply stunning! There are so many cool architectural features including a Greek/Roman nautical theme, and beautiful Rookwood drinking fountains. Who could help being inspired when studying/learning/performing in such a grand space? It's so great to see the obvious pride and alumni involvement that Walnut Hills has reflected in the preservation of their beautiful campus.

My understanding is that it offers more AP classes than any other school in the country. I was in the class of 2004. I had an amazing experience at the "'Nut". I made friends there that I shall keep for years to come. This education changed my life for the better. The teachers are all inspiring and amazing. I spent a lot of my time in the theater and music department with Mr. Peters, Mrs. Peters, and Mr. Ben Basone. These teachers inspired me to devote my life to the arts. I have emerged as a well rounded and driven adult who has become an actor, singer, stage manager, and now an arts marketer devoted to spreading the arts throughout. The school is incredibly diverse and offers a lot of resources for any type of student. I would recommend this school to any parent who wants their kids to get a great education. However, there is a test to gain entry. Now don't freak out... is passable unless you are a complete idiot. One of the questions is, "How many sides does a triangle have."

Indianola is an alternative school that allows kids to be kids - you start each day on the "carpet" as a group and then go to work stations around the classroom depending on what you want to pursue. Age groups are mixed, diversity is omnipresent and creativity ensues! I was mapping constellations in 3rd grade and did a project on Kwanzaa in 4th... not your run-of-the-mill elementary school experience. And try finding a better school motto than "friends are like rainbows." Can I go back to school here now? Please?

There was a section of the school for deaf and hard of hearing students, and kids were bused in from Fort Hayes Army Base. So it was a diverse, lively, nurturing place. But the picture here is Indianola Junior high, which is off of Fourth Street.
