I have three dogs from greenfield, all purchased from Amish in PA. my first experience was good, the dog is very healthy and beautiful she is a German shepherd and can be registered, while I never seen where she was raised and she is a bit hyper and hard headed she is very smart and she was easy to train, that breeder was ok/good, on to dog 2 I have a shiz tu and this breeder was wonderful, let me see the parents and all his breeding dogs, even where the parents have the pups, nice clean kennels were set up, this breeder only bred this type and I have akc papers for him as well making them in my opinion the best Amish breeder I got from, now on to my third, I have an Ausie which I just got recently, seems healthy so far, on his pic he had blue eyes and I asked on the phone if the eyes would stay blue and she said yes mist likely but truth is the pic was taken weeks before his eyes were changing now to bray brown which is stunning but I was mislead, when I went to see the pup, the woman brought him out on her porch but I could barley see him or get to him to hold or pet. I was able just to peek over the rails and pet his head, she suddenly opened up his papers which were wrong, it said he was female, so I worried if this was correct info on his paperwork. It seems she was rushing the sale, I said give me a few to think it over. I said his eyes changed, she said she never knew it. I also was not told I could not register, until the last minute when I said I will take him, I only wanted him at this point to rescue him. I seen they had very tiny pups on the grass with no mom scared to death about 3 weeks old. I should have walked away I know but the pup was stunning and sweet and he and the small ones looked healthy. I was not looking to breed so I said heck with the akc because the cost was low. I was still worried about the non registered dogs, so I will do a DNA soon. I feel now they have no time to register because I found out they are breeding 4 different breeds. however it s not that expensive to register two parents so that pups can be registered. I had other questions about his bowel habits, was he going healthy and she said she did not know if he was going normal or diarrhea and she got rude with me when I said I really wanted to register him and said I hope he is not having bowel issues, she then said he was most likely ok, she asked what does it matter if I can't give you akc papers and I said well because I need to know if its a pedigree and want to see the ancestors family tree for health reasons. I went to buy a pedigree Ausie due to the traits and look. I was able to see the mom and she did not even know anything about the dad except his color. I said well I will get him anyway, he kept crying to get to me anyway. Our puppy ...Griswold, was sent home with a goodie bag of food, ball, blanket, leash, shot record and was even given his dose of wormer before we left. I purchased a puppy from Dalton Ohio via Green Field Puppies in May of 2022. When speaking to the seller on the phone I was not aware she was not the actual sell but a spokesperson for the Amish seller. Upon arrival at the seller's residence there were red flags I did not identify right away. I was there to purchase an English Cream Golden Retriever. The puppies were in a large crate that was filthy with poop. Additionally, there was another breed of puppies inside the adjacent barn. The seller, Wilma was not too knowledgeable and the vet paperwork she provided seemed incomplete. Fast forward to Sept. 2025, our dog we purchased via Greenfield Puppies was diagnosed with Idiopathic seizures which the vet believes is due to over breeding. He was not. Nor did they stand by The Gold standards BS showed. Vet bills $2000 and got nothing. But a bunch of BS saying we didn't sell him then Lancaster says same. I came upon greenfield puppies almost 2 years ago and purchased a puppy then I've been trying since early 2020 to get information to register as breeder. Now, if you notice breeders are all male or husband and wife and Amish then this little bell goes off.. hmm I've only received 1 email on May 6 of this year and no less than 4 times I've submitted my application with photos. Nothing, no replies. I've left voicemails and nothing. I get switched to voicemail and talk their email department doesn't have a phone. The fee alone to list my puppies us over $1000 and the money I have invested is a great deal more. We purchased a supposedly pure bred Newfoundland from greenfieldpuppies.com. She came with the paperwork and heritage for AKC and an American Kennel Club Certificate. Took her to our vet and she is definitely not a pure bred Newfoundland. No idea what mix she is. We love the dog and are keeping her, have bonded, she is sweet and playful. But we drove twelve hours out of state to get her and paid for a pure bred Newfie. So buyer beware. And understand and Greenfield Puppies is an umbrella company that has many different breeders under it and they are not vetted, some people might actually deal with a legitimate breeder but most from the reviews I'm reading (late) are just doing bait n switch. I bought a Bernedoodle pup and it is the most amazing dog I have ever had. My vet says she is in excellent health. I have had her 4 years now and she is wonderful with my grandchildren yet very protective of me around strangers. I drove from south Florida to Pa. and the Amish family I got her from was lovely. This post is hard to type and I wish I wouldn't have made such a horrible decision to buy a puppy from the Amish, through Greenfield. Many of these puppies are inbred and you will have huge vet bills from the beginning. I rec'd a "puppy guarantee" for 90 days and now I am having to pay $5,000 for bilateral knee surgery at 1.5 years old. I live with the decision to purchase my mother's puppy from the Amish backyard breeder daily. The conditions the mother breeding dog was living in was horrible ... they altered her so she couldn't bark and she was blind. Just horrible and hard for me to talk about. Had my mother not been with me and had already fallen in love with the puppy, I would have walked away. I made the wrong the decision and my heart hurts for her dog daily. It is horrible. Greenfield is making lots of money from the Amish because they take the staged cute pictures, make the listing for the puppy .... they manage the process for the Amish. My Dog is Presented With Major Health Issues After Being Inbred from an Amish Puppy Mill I'm writing this in case anyone ever finds themselves in a similar situation or finds themselves wanting to buy a dog from a puppy mill. First, I want to say that I love my dog deeply. Out of all my dogs, this one is lowkey my favorite. He has a one-of-a-kind personality and I will never find another dog like him. We've always noticed something a little off about him and assumed it could be puppy autism. He has the sweetest soul, and I would never regret bringing him into my life.  I bought my golden retriever puppy several years ago, and now he has Chylothorax. I thought my dog was healthy until I was working overseas, and got a call that he was dying and couldn't breathe because there was so much fluid in his chest. There was so much fluid that it pushed all of his organs to one side of his body. I had to tell him goodbye over a FaceTime while he was in an oxygen tank in the event he did not make it before I got home. I immediately booked a flight and was back the next morning. The vets removed 3.5 liters of fluid from him. After reviewing the X-Rays and seeing what looked like a mass, they were sure that it was cancer, but to be sure we had to go through extensive testing. We got a CT scan and it ended up inconclusive so we got a biopsy and that was also inconclusive. We still could not figure out what was causing the buildup of Chyle fluid. He went through multiple tests and surgeries throughout the month. During the major surgery, they found a tissue fusion caused by "past trauma." Thankfully, it wasn't cancer, but the vets asked where I got him from, hinting that this might be related. They asked if I got him anywhere that was near a lake or if I unknown if he had come from a puppy mill. I realized both were true. Thinking back, I was young, broke, and just wanted another golden retriever. I found my dog on Greenfield Puppies and I drove to a farm in Fredericksburg, OH, and saw 4-5 adult golden retrievers in a fenced yard. Norman Miller, his wife Barbara Miller, and their kids greeted me and I signed the papers and took my dog home. On the way home, I noticed his bulging stomach. I think of this now because he has a bulging stomach because of his Chylothorax that he could have had the entire time. He ended up having worms when I got him as well even though they guaranteed he didn't. He was also terrified of going through doors and still is, likely from being abused and shoved into a crate while having the door slammed in his face or on his neck.  Recently, I researched their farms and discovered they run extensive puppy mills in towns like Millersburg and Fredricksburg, Ohio. Along with Ohio, they are also located in Iowa and Pennsylvania. The Millers and Yoders dominate these areas with their operations. Norman alone has around 22 addresses. Lancaster puppies is similar to Greenfield Puppies and both filled with puppy mills. They are basically the brokers and websites that the Amish people promote their puppy mills on. Another interesting fact that I found was that the same family that sells the puppies owns the "vet" that signs off on all of their shots and vet visits. The cute pictures with the puppies in front of flowers is all a front. They attempted to inspect them and found a way around this to only get inspected once per year. They run several websites and farms, making it look legitimate, but it's all a scam and I was too dumb to realize it. They knowingly sell puppies with health problems at low costs. Unsold puppies with more issues are either killed or sent to pet stores like PetLand. They overbreed the mothers until they can't have more pups and then drown them in the lakes. Puppies are separated early so the mothers can be bred again. They also inbreed, causing serious health issues, and are churning out thousands of dogs with these problems. Everything they do is unethical. Get your dog from a reputable breeder. While I don't regret rescuing my dog, and I love him dearly, I regret supporting a puppy mill. I believe I saved him from a dire situation, but it's essential to raise awareness and stop supporting these cruel operations. I urge you all from experience to not use Greenfield. They are definitely an amish puppy mill promoter. I did not do my research and bought a beautiful bernese mountain dog from an amish farm in PA. The dog was chronically unhealthy from the beginning with parasites and stomach issues. It took us a full year to get him to a healthy spot with functioning gut bacteria. My sweet boy passed at 3 from a hereditary brain disease that was mentioned nowhere in the paperwork we were given. I understand the appeal of a lower price -- truly. But I guarantee you will pay for it in the future in the form of vet visits and heartbreak. Our poor puppy had his top adult canine teeth growing horizontally instead of vertically. He had to undergo a $3000 dollar surgery at 6 months old. From there on he had one health problem after another totalling over $14000. We babied him through all of it. We heard good things about Greenfield Puppies from neighbors who purchased from them. We looked on line and found "Shannon" owned by breeder Stephen Stoltzfoos. The breeder offers a 1-year genetic health guarantee, a birth certificate, worming, and the vet records on the puppy. Mr. Stoltzfoos was very accommodating over the phone and we put a deposit on our Visa card on a Friday to hold her for us, as we were driving through Pennsylvania the following Wednesday. Everything went as planned and Mr. Stoltzfoos could not have been more amenable and his property and kennel are very well maintained. She is the sweetest puppy, good natured and about 80% potty trained. Our vet said she is healthy and he provided her next series of vaccinations. I'm looking at all these reviews of Greenfield Puppies. Four years ago I purchased a black lab from one breeder, and a golden retriever from another. Jacob Stolzfus had the Golden. I was so impressed his barn was immaculate you could have eaten off the floor. He gave me a health guarantee for a year. I had both dogs at the vet soon after I purchased them. No issues to this day. My lab had meniscus surgery but so did my last one that was purchased from a breeder other than Greenfield. I would definitely purchase from them again if I can't find what I want from a rescue. I have only had my small breed puppy, for 2 weeks and a few things already "seem off". 1st thing: I took my puppy to the vet for a "New Puppy" visit 8 days after purchase. Breeder told me my puppy was 9 weeks old. So at time of vet visit my puppy was 10 weeks. However Vet told me, my puppy's premolars were coming in. Which usually STARTS at the age of 4 months. So it seems that Puppy is much older then I was told. 2nd thing: I first contacted one gentleman about his puppies, and he told me his puppies were no longer available however his daughter has one of his puppies and that puppy had a litter of puppies and available now. I ended up purchasing my puppy from his daughter and her husband. Later I'm on Greenfield Puppy website just looking, out of boredom. The original breeder I contacted, listings and the one I purchased from, listings both had the SAME Sir name (dad dog). Now remember my puppies, mother, is one of the original breeders Puppy. We got an amazing puppy from a young Mennonite family two years ago. They told us that this was their first litter, the sire was AKC certified, and had us meet the mom of the puppies. They also showed us where the puppies were kept, and all was clean and well-cared for. The dogs seemed to love the breeders. Everything appeared to be on the up-and-up. Right before this, we had just suddenly lost another dog to an aggressive form of cancer, and didn't do enough research into Greenfield before buying our puppy. We were so distraught, and just knew that we really wanted another dog. We should have taken more time to do our research. While our dog from Greenfield is the sweetest thing, he has SO many health problems. He has epilepsy, skin issues, elbow issues and gastrointestinal problems. We are spending a fortune just to try to keep our two-year-old dog healthy. We love our dog so much, but I would never go through Greenfield again to get a puppy. The puppy I looked at was in a barn, and I was not told about the puppy having a medical condition ( undescended testicle) at first. I noticed there was not any health records or vaccine records in the paperwork that I got after handing over the cash to the Amish man, so he went into his house and came back out (I had the puppy in my vehicle). I noticed that the Veterinarian signed paper mentioned the undescended testicle. I asked the Amish man about it, and he told me that it will come down (the testicle) by 6 months of age. It never did. My heart broke for the puppy, so I did take the puppy home. He got fixed and that took care of the problem with the undescended testicle...but at a cost. I felt taken advantage of after handing over $1,400 cash for a puppy that this Amish man knew about and tried to withhold a medical issue. I got my Shishon from Christina, PA from a Amish breeder Moses a couple years ago 8/2018. I had to call him several times to arrange the pick up but since he had no phone he would call me back later. The dog was a bit older about 14 weeks but still adorable and playful. He was born on May 9 but we picked him up in August. They were raised in the barn outside.There were also alot of kids on that farm and they seem to have played with the dogs so he was acclimated to humans. The dog parents were running around the farm as well and as soon as my puppy saw her (Bishon) he tried to nurse from her. On the drive back to our house he did get car sick and he threw up alot of grass and hay. We took him to the vet the next day but he was cleared of heart worm, parasites and got a clean bill of health. We've had the dog for a couple of years now and my family adores him. He is really the most loving and sweetest dog. Loves people and other dogs as well. He is intelligent enough to train easily and most of the time very quiet unless he sees or hears someone on my property. After reading alot of the reviews about Greenfield puppies my advice is to look at the individual breeder. Some I believe are puppy mills and others are just not credible. Also these are Amish they have different views about these dogs they sell. They don't see them as pets but really as live stock or a commodity to earn extra income. These are mostly Amish breeders trying to make a quick buck. Very uneducated breeders who do not breed for temperment or bloodlines. Often pups are not vetted as they should be and kept in poor conditions in a barn. Many have illnesses that they neglect. I paid 2K for a French Bulldog pup that I knew had Parvo, probably for months, just to get him away from this horrible and dishonest breeder. Many of the half and half breeds are not genetically compatible so expect problems when that puppy gets to be adult and older. We agreed that we would keep in touch and she would not sell the puppy to anyone else so long as I continued to call her. She hadn't even giving me the payment process and I was making arrangements to have Abba flown across country to my home. I called her the second day and there was no answer so I left a message. I reiterated that I still wanted to purchase Abba and left my name and number twice. She didn't return my call that day, so I called the following day, only to be told that Abba had been sold to someone who arrived, cash in hand.
