Saw this market on the way to Big Bear Mountain Resort and ended up having to go back down the mountain when we found out the chains we were sold at Autozone were the incorrect size (and yes, we gave them our tire size but I guess he still grabbed the wrong one =/) and the chain shop on the mountain ran out of our tire size. The chains ended up being around $150. Bought some of the Whiskey BBQ jerky which isn't the dry type of jerky and was extremely sticky. Really enjoyed the flavor. All jerky is $36/lb but you can say you want "X dollar amount" of jerky (for example, I bought $10 worth of jerky). Fairly friendly shop employees. This is the most amazing beef jerky I have ever had. If willy wonka had a beef jerky factory it would be green spot The sweet and spicy actually starts sweet and becomes spicy. The whiskey jerky is new and my god! It's like it was brought down from the heavens by odin himself. the hot brisket has the kick in the taste buds you'll get a desire for. the turkey jerky is tender with a sort of sweet taste The teriyaki jerky is like crack, you'll get addicted. The jerky here is what my dreams are made of #fatgirlproblems. A lot of people are saying "they're pricey compared to the grocery store" okay, 1.) This is better than the grocery store, the grocery store isn't even in the same damn league as this jerky 2.) You are paying for quality! If you hate yourself enough to settle for beef jerky from a supermarket than you don't deserve green spot jerky anyways. 3.)never make lists without a third point. For real, you can say "give me $10 of whiskey jerky" and thats all they'll give you. You don't have to buy the entire pound, but you'll probably want to. I grew up with Green Spot as part of the weekly routine of driving from the mountain down to Stater Bros for groceries. The jerky has been a treat that I have given myself year after year even living in Canada and the PNW. It really is that memorable. Over the last, I would say decade or so though, the price has shot up even though the processing is outsourced for volume. The flavor is similar to what it was and is still great, but I don't get the same nostalgic feeling when I pay extra premium price for mass produced product. As a side not on the trip up the mountain, don't buy boxed ice cream. The lower air pressure will make the box burst. But you do kind of get free ice cream because it expands so much. read more

This place has a lot of "knick-knacks" inside the store. Souvenirs, beer, toilet paper, car oil and of course, beef jerky. I bought the "Hot Brisket." If you like spicy, this is the jerky to get. Pretty freaking good and tender. The old fashion jerky was good too. Next time I'm in the mood for some jerky, I will definitely. be stocking up here next time. read more

Really came here to try the "world famous" beef jerky at 32 dollars a pound, it better be good. Carne Asada was ok, a little too chewy. Jalapeno was good but not spicy enough. By far our favorite of the three, was the Spicy Beef Brisket. Gone in 60 seconds. This place is worth a 45 minute trip back to try out the other flavors including the original. read more

This is a great pit stop for anyone going up the mountain. I stop here every time I have a day planned in the mountains just before I leave town. The employees are super friendly and if you're from Mentone, there are some pretty funny novelties inside that you can purchase. On to the jerky and why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. I grew up in a family that makes its own jerky with recipes handed down for a very long time and there is a huge difference between a homemade meaty well seasoned and good quality meat jerky. The world famous jerky here, which I assume to be self proclaimed, has become somewhat commercialized. I am not sure how it was originally, but I know that what they sell now is there recipe subbed out to another company to make it in the masses. I love this Jerky here! I always get great service! I always get the Original! I stop by this place every time I come back down from the mountain. Not too into the really teriyaki style flavors but I always get the original and the spicy and sweet teriyaki. I think it compares above the other jerky out there! I like to go offroading in my Jeep often out in this area. We also take the kids out to Forest Falls and Barton Flats in the winter, and the river just past the Ranger station by the bridge in the summer. There is not one time we haven't come to Greenspot for Jerky and Adventure Passes, among other things. This place is a fixture locally and a mandatory destination in our book. First of all, the Jerky. Oh, the jerky. I have NEVER had such good jerky in the whole of my life, especially the Teriyaki Brisket. Not even Alien Fresh Jerky in Baker holds a candle to this jerky. The Sweet & Spicy Brisket is my second favorite, and the Hot Brisket is great if you are feeling adventurous. It is really hot, but it burns soooo good. I haven't tried them all, but I've never been disappointed either. Its quite pricey, but worth it. If you forget to stop at BevMo on your way through Redlands, this place has a decent selection of beer and spirits. Among other things, there are big bags of peanuts, firewood, cheap styrofoam gliders for the kids, cheap 2-for-$1.50 candies, chips, ice, and ice cream to stock up on for the day. The staff is always nice and helpful with any questions you may have about the area. I cant pass this place without stopping. read more

In my younger days I went on road trips looking for great jerky. (I'm not kidding) The best jerky is made slow and in small batches. You find it in out of the way places made by folks who are passionate about jerky. Industrial jerky, that you find in supermarkets, can never be as good because proper jerky can't be made at the factory level. It's just not cost effective. Knowing that I'm somewhat of a jerky connoisseur, a co-worker brought me some beef jerky from a little store he stopped at on his way home from a weekend mountain trip. I was simply amazed. This jerky is made by folks PASSIONATE about jerky. I tried Original, and Sweet and Spicy Brisket. Both are AMAZING in their own way. The S&S Brisket is tender and juicy, with a perfect blend of flavor. The Original...... OMFG!!!! This is the worlds most PERFECT jerky. It's not as tender as the other, nor should it be. Jerky is supposed to be hard. Not too hard, not tough, but hard so that is keeps a long time without spoiling. That's the original purpose of Jerky! These folks GET IT! It has the perfect hardness and texture. A pure beef flavor with a just little extra salt. Now to address some reviews complaining about the price... Quality costs money. It's as simple as that, and it's your choice. If $36 per pound is too high a price for the best jerky in the world, go to R*lphs, buy some J*ack L*nk's and wallow in your ignorance. This place has ruined all other jerky for me. Any time I buy jerky from somewhere else, I always instantly think this isn't as good as Greenspot. I mean they can be good, but not as good as Greenspot. I like the selection they have and I like that you can order as much or as little of each type since they weigh it out for you. The jerky here is really moist and it has a really good thickness. I think of some of the selection as little mini steaks- they are that moist. I used to drive an hour out of my way to come here to pick it up around the holidays on the way to see family. Now, I live in another state and cannot just swing out of my way to get it which is sad, but!! You can order it over the phone and they will ship it to you!!!! I have yet to order it and have it shipped but I would assume the quality will be just as good as if you bought it inside the little store. Driving past you may even miss it if your not paying attention but that would be a mistake on your part. Let me tell you if you like beef jerky THIS is the place to get it. They let you sample a bit just so your sure that's the flavor(s) you want to invest in. It is worth every penny you spend. Mine never makes it home. My whole family loves it. My favorite is teriyaki brisket but I do like it on the sweeter side. For those who want it spicy no worries they have you covered. They are great people. Stop by and say hello. But do not be fooled. This place has arguably the best beef jerky i have ever tasted. Stopped in on our way to the pumpkin patch. I have never hated a beef jerky until now. I got a chili teriyaki I think it was called, and the texture when holding it was similar to a fruit roll. Soft and floppy which is something I have never seen in a jerky. Also got one that was very peppery. (cannot remember the name) it was the driest jerky ever. It literally tasted like cardboard and I actually spit it out. Never in my life have I tasted something so awful being called beef jerky. Was it sitting there for years? I don't know but that grossed me out so much that all if it got thrown away. Worst waste of $16 I ever spent. At $34 a pound or whatever it is, I expected it to at least taste decent. NEVER will I go back again, sadly. read more

This out of the way place is outstanding !! We were in need of a very odd size set of snow chains and our search was looking dismal. We were at the Autozone in San Berdo and the best gal mechanic Christy suggested we try this place at the base of the mountain (she even showed us how to get there) Willy, the proprietier, hooked us right up. He had what we needed; gave us tips on how to install them properly and gave us a good price !! We were thrilled to be going up the mountain and happy for all the extra help that went into our adventure, and the beef jerky looks amazing.
