Stopped by while on the road from New Haven to Memphis. During COVID. My girlfriend (read: hungry "navigator") required sustenance. She saw this on Yelp and told me they had gyros, so I was in. It's a bit off the interstate, but not deterringly so. As we walked up, the place looked deserted (and now I was hungry, and to that, get behind me apprehension). The young lady behind the make-shift to go counter was delightful; I was pretty well taken aback by the mismatch of desertion meets cheerfulness. The paradox was resolved when she explained we were in a resort area (I imagined the kind of folk from Dirty Dancing frequenting a nearby body of water nearby over summers), and here we were come late December. As for the food: the gyro was pretty run-of-the-mill, but good. And this is coming from a gyro snob who's been all over (in case you're wondering, the best was found at a now defunct place called Yianni's Wraps in Jackson, Mississippi...think Seinfeld's soup Nazi but a Greek guy who espoused the virtues of drinking ouzo warm, melting cheese to the bottom of the inside of a pita with a blow torch before piling in meat, and finally, that he did not serve fries, but rather sliced, cooked, potatoes with Adriatic Sea salt, but I digress). The fries (which this establishment does indeed serve), were exceptional, I'd recommend trying two different styles, though I forget which ones we had. The aspect that sticks out most is the value. We've been fans of Greentown Grill for the past few years, and have been wanting to check it out since they're under new ownership. The positives- the staff is great. They couldn't be nicer, and they're very helpful. Braylee was our server, and she really hustles. They were working so hard last night, and we really appreciated that. The food is pretty good. My daughter ordered the loaded baked potato soup, and we both really thought it was broccoli cheese. It was ok, but really didn't taste like homemade. I had a Rachel (like a Reuben sandwich), and it was good, but to add a side of fries was $5 extra. $15 for a sandwich and fries? We've noticed the pricing under the new owner is much higher now. Monday's special is $21 for lasagna. At a fancy Italian restaurant I might expect it to be that much, but at a very casual dining spot in the Poconos? I wouldn't expect to pay more than $15, even with soup or salad. We see the specials they post each day and we're usually a bit shocked at the pricing. That's something I will miss about the previous owner. I wish the new owner all the best, and hope they will continue to thrive, but I can't say we'll be back too often, other than maybe for breakfast. DO NOT EAT HERE!! It's downright dangerous! It is evident that the kitchen staff is not trained in proper food handling. ( this was admitted by serving staff) This is not a joke this restaurant has no concept of safe food handling, preparation, storage, cross contamination. I could go one. If you do not want to be sickened by any degree of food poisoning or worse, DO NOT go here. It's only time before salmonella poisoning affects someone. We went there Saturday night. A party of six. Three of us were violently ill hours after. The chicken in my piccata was RAW in the middle. That's right! Pink and cold.. I did not as for medium rare chicken!! That was sent back! When I asked the server if the internal temperature was checked before serving, it was if I spoke a foreign language. My 79 y/o mother in law only ate calamari.. with in hours, she was violently praying to the porcelain god. My 15 year old son, had chicken quesadillas and chicken Alfredo. Same outcome as my mother in law. My 22y/o son Had a bacon cheeseburger. His relationship with the above mentioned throne was completely southern based. And as for me, well, I sent that chicken straight back and really ate nothing because the whole food experience was disgusting and honestly DANGEROUS! Not one dish came out temperature hot. Lukewarm at best! Scary!! Steer clear! Until this establishment takes food handling and safety seriously, DO NOT Go! Two of the three individuals in my party are entirely healthy individuals. Imagine if someone that was immune compromised ate something that was improperly handled, stored, cooked! It could very well be a death sentence. Still 5 stars while under the newer management. Burgers are flavorful and the largest at the lake! Chicken cheesesteak is still excellent. The chicken bacon ranch is very good too. This place used to be THE SPOT. Perhaps it was the old owners or maybe it was without the general manager that they have now JOE. Orrrrrr maybe if they kept the old cooks things would be different, but I can't pretend they are.This place has lost my love. For the most part the waitstaff and bussers and hostesses are sweet. I actually feel bad they have to work in that environment. Especially Kelly, she is a gem in the rough. They lost Ashlee and Anita. Great service and wonderful meals at the Greentown Grille, everyone was doing the COVID 19 safety guidelines and social distancing. The food was hot and delicious, especially good was the chicken noodle soup, like homemade and hearty. The liver and onions and bacon was great, I enjoyed the ample sweet potato fries and onion rings. Dad loved his Fisherman's Combo and we certainly will be back to have more dinners at the Greentown Grille. We have also had their Shrimp Scampi, and their steaks which are both excellent, their gyros too, and their reubens and rachels for lunch. We usually stop at the Greentown Grille after a day of boating on the lake. While the food is never great it's always "ok". The service is usually quick and friendly. It's often too quick in that you end up with appetizers, salads and entrees on the table all at the same time. Last night we stopped in and the food was terrible. Most of it was inedible. For a starter we ordered the Fried Calamari. It was so chewy and had such a strong fishy taste we stopped after one bite. We also ordered a burger which was ok except the fries tasted like they were made six hours earlier and sat under a heat lamp since them. We also ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo which was also terrible. The sauce was a clumpy, gritty mess. It was really bad. We will probably continue dining here because there are so few options in the area. read more

Extremely poor customer service! We had a party of 12 for breakfast. We ordered 2 plates of chocolate chip pancakes for some of the kids. They looked good but my grandson refused to eat after the first bite. He said they weren't good. Upon sampling it was immediately evident that the batter had gone bad! The taste was terrible. We told the waitress and she spoke to be kitchen and confirmed the batter was spoiled. They remade the pancakes and after a wait delivered new pancakes to the table. The kids weren't happy that they had to wait while everyone else in our group was eating. When the bill came we had been charged full price. I questioned it and the waitress returned from the kitchen and stated that they remade them and we needed to pay full price. I pointed out that they were spoiled, could have made the kids sick, had to wait etc. I said I felt it was only fair to remove them from our check. I stated we were a party of 12 and probably wouldn't return. I asked to speak to be manager. A woman came out and listened and said we had to pay for them. In the end she game us a "big" 10% off the cost of the pancakes. Pancakes are cheap and they lost business in the future over this! I see many stories of unhappy customers. Another great evening at Greentown Grill. We highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a high quality meal, with big portions, reasonable prices and excellent service. My wife had the honey dipped chicken which came with a very good home made broccoli cheese soup. My sister had a New York Strip steak that was cooked perfect with zero fat and I had the best cheese steak hoagie that I have ever had this side of Philadelphia. Pleasantly surprised. This place is definitely a hidden gem. The food was all very flavorful and well seasoned. The servings were big for the entrees and just right for the soup, salad and side (not complaining cause now I have lunch). The bread was only two rolls but I don't think we could have eaten more with our entrees. They were warmed up and fresh. The restaurant was clean but the decor really needs an upgrade. The two servers were very nice and polite but definitely overworked. As long as your not in a rush, it's definitely worth the wait!! I look forward to coming back. read more

Update!: went to meet a friend for lunch. Words fail me! Like being in the twilight zone. Not overly busy, waitstaff is completely clueless. Ordered and spent the next 40 minutes watching them deliver wrong orders to EVERY TABLE! had no idea what they were doing. We got approached with other orders several times as well. "" Is this yours?" Watched a number of people walk out. Prices way up as well. The lunch was average at best, snd two of us got sick this evening. We were a party of 5 adults and a toddler and went there over the (2024) 4th of July week; we were seated quickly and the staff was friendly, so for that I give 2 stars. For the food I wish I could give half of a star. Every meal was just "meh"; except for my husband's "dinner special" which was the absolute most disgusting prime rib. To put it mildly my husband said it was the absolute worst prime rib he's ever had! I wish I would've taken a pic! When it was served it was smothered in a thick brown gravy; little did we know at the time, but we think that may have been to camouflage the cheap cut of nasty meat they served. He gave me a piece to try, and I took a small bite and gave it back to him bc it was so bad! Once he was done trying to eat this shoe leather, I looked at his plate and it was full of fat, gristle and nasty chewed up pieces that he had to spit out because it just wasn't edible. Why didn't he order something else? Well bc none of our food was worth ordering, as I said, just "meh." They should take the prime rib OFF the menu or learn how to cook it! We will never, ever go back and will let all our friends & family who come for a visit to not step foot in that place. This is a harder review to write because it really ranges from a high of a five or even a six to about a two. To start the five. This would be for breakfast, which is excellent. The potatoes are wonderful, the omelette flavorful and cooked perfectly, and the pancakes are delicious. The staff are terrific, very attentive and friendly. Now for a 3 - dinner here is nothing to write home about. I've had dinner twice, and we're not impressed. The fried chicken was just OK but the mesh potatoes or pitiful. Chicken wings or I can just OK some were a bit dry. The gyro was fair, the meat cut fairly thick. And the 2 - the soft serve ice cream. The chocolate was good and relatively creamy, but the vanilla was grainy and tasted more like frozen milk than ice cream. We will definitely be back for breakfast. read more

So me and my lady decided to stop in to grab a bite to go, we've ordered 1 combo half chicken / half rib, 1 Mac & cheese / 1 brisket in container / sweet potatoe fries / 1 half rack of ribs / potatoe salad, didn't get a photo of all the food together but will say the meal was decent. Possibly need a tab more of seasoning to kick it up a notch but over all this review and taste of food id say was decent. The ribs were very tender but just need a tab more flavor. It's now called Tony's restaurant. Had diner there Saturday night 11/9.We were seated fast. Waitress came over took our drink order and took our food order. That's when everything feel apart. Ordered a sausage and pepper hero, shrimp scampi, and fried calamari for an appetizer. 5 minutes later waitress came back and said they don't have fried calamari right now. Fine ordered mussels. 5 minutes later she came back and said they don't have sausage and peppers tonight. Ok ordered a bacon cheeseburger med instead. 5 minutes later she came back and said they don't have mussels tonight. Ok forget about the appetizers. Waited 45 minutes for our food to come. There was no bread brought out and no salad with the dinner. The shrimp scampi had 3 med to small shrimp in it and about a dozen pieces of linguine and the scampi sauce was water with no taste at all. My wife's medium bacon cheese burger looked ok but after two bites it was raw inside and she couldn't eat anymore and refused to send it back. The French fries were decent. I wanted to talk to the owner but he had two phones to his ears taking telephone orders the entire time we were there. The kitchen staff would walk out without wearing a mask and another waitress did the I'm not covering my nose deal. I have lived up here for many years and used to go to the Greentown Grille all the time. Lately the quality of food has totally declined, which is funny because their prices have increased. Today, I tried to give the Greentown Inn a second chance, however I was again met with disappointment. After waiting over 50 minutes for our breakfast to arrive and inquiring about when the food would be delivered, we were told that there was a very large party they were serving and our food would not be delivered to our table any time soon. With that, our table got up and left. The thing that bothers me most about this situation is the way we were treated. The manager made no effort to try to get us our food, come out to speak to us or address the inability of the kitchen to serve a meal to a customer in an appropriate time span. The poor waitress was sent out of the kitchen, bill in had, to relay the message and dismiss our group with the statement "your food won't be coming out anytime soon". This is very unprofessional and I can tell you that I will not be going back to the Greentown Inn. You need to improve your customer service and recognize that every patron deserves to be treated with dignity and respect because the people you might be disrespecting are locals who help support your business during the off season! read more

This is a good spot to bring family...came with a group from NYC and were enjoyed the food and service. Portions aren't GIANT like NYC diners, but they weren't tiny either....just right.
