The exhibit, which featured some really cutting edge art, was free! Aside from this exhibition, most of what they seem to put on are individual artists and community artists (including students in their art classes). The center also has a pre-K, art classes, guest speakers for various topics. They have classes and programs for drawing, painting, ceramics, photography. They have ballet and dance classes. They have science based programs for 3D printing, robotics, coding. Music classes too! So while they may not be a full on art gallery, they are a pillar in the community, working to get residents, particularly children, engaged in the arts.

My daughter has adored every one of her teachers (and loves playing school with us at home where she gets to be the teacher!) and the director, Dorothy, has been a pleasure to interact with. COVID was extremely challenging but she was a proactive communicator and always has the best interests of the children and staff at heart. Now that it's been safe to connect outside of school it's also been wonderful to see the kids in my daughter's class interact with each other at birthday parties - they all play so nicely with each other. It's clear they've developed meaningful friendships and are learning what it means to be a good friend to one another.

Why three stars ? I've been to many beaches and this one is just average. Compared to places like Fire Island & Robert Moses State Park there's no competition. Beautiful big rolling waves, infinite views, the wildlife, flowers and clean ocean breeze off the Atlantic Ocean versus the rocky rough sand and wimpy wavelets of the Long Island Sound. It's a nice place for picnics but the last time I was there they kicked people out right before sunset so I couldn't even enjoy the view.

My wife recently attempted to get out of her car in the parking lot and found it extremely slippery--unsafe to the point where she had to move her car to another area. Unfortunately, the conditions were just as bad throughout the lot. This is a basic safety issue that should not be overlooked. I reported the concern, expecting it would be taken seriously. Instead, her membership was canceled. While it was later reinstated, the initial response was surprising and, frankly, concerning. I then went to the facility to raise the issue directly with management. I approached the situation calmly, simply trying to point out that unsafe conditions in a parking lot could lead to someone getting hurt. The response I received was repeatedly being told to "get out," with no attempt to acknowledge or address the concern. At that point, it became clear that member safety and basic professionalism were not being handled the way they should be. I am no longer a member. I hope the business takes steps to address the parking lot conditions and improves how it responds to legitimate concerns in the future.
