I had a very disappointing experience with Sportsplex Stamford that I feel others should be aware of. My wife recently attempted to get out of her car in the parking lot and found it extremely slippery--unsafe to the point where she had to move her car to another area. Unfortunately, the conditions were just as bad throughout the lot. This is a basic safety issue that should not be overlooked. I reported the concern, expecting it would be taken seriously. Instead, her membership was canceled. While it was later reinstated, the initial response was surprising and, frankly, concerning. I then went to the facility to raise the issue directly with management. I approached the situation calmly, simply trying to point out that unsafe conditions in a parking lot could lead to someone getting hurt. The response I received was repeatedly being told to "get out," with no attempt to acknowledge or address the concern. At that point, it became clear that member safety and basic professionalism were not being handled the way they should be. I am no longer a member. I hope the business takes steps to address the parking lot conditions and improves how it responds to legitimate concerns in the future. read more

Very clean for a gym/fitness center with tons of upscale amenities- I.e salt water pool, squash courts etc Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. Locker rooms are spacious and welcoming. A special place that values their clients. read more

I was never a big gym go-er until finding Sportsplex. The sense of community is unmatched and the classes are fantastic! The gym also offers some of the best swim lessons in the area for those with young children and an excellent squash program. Jack greets you at the door and the instructors welcome all new faces. I LOVE SPORTSPLEX. I have been a member here for years and am so sad that I'm moving because i will no longer be able to work out here!!!! The staff is sooo friendly, everyone always knows my name when I walk in - it sounds cheesy but it really is like a small town or a family. The facilities are always neat and clean, the steam room, sauna, and showers are such a treat after a long workout or swim, and best of all, THERE IS NEVER A CROWD!!!! My trainer, Lauren was so supportive, encouraging, and amazing and kicked my butt!! Paula was an AMAZING spin teacher and it was so great walking by her office every day when I came in - I was always greeted with a smile and joyful hello!!! I would look somewhere else for a club. Paula the sales rep was condescending and a little rude. She hassled me over not responding to her ONE email that she sent me which as you see she did not put much effort into it. I really love this gym. I joined primarily for the salt water pool, which is the cleanest pool I have ever used. It is fully drained, dried, and cleaned every year, and all swimmers must wear caps, so it stays clean. The rest of the gym is also very well maintained with the latest equipment and is very clean. Finally, I really enjoy the staff. They are very nice people who create a welcoming and steady atmosphere. read more

I've been a member for over a decade and Sportsplex is my happy place. Noelle's Pilates and Shannon's Zumba instruction are unparalleled. I always look forward to them, knowing that I'll have an amazing workout and have fun at the same time. I've become a proficient fitness lap swimmer with JJ's excellent coaching during masters swim and always look forward to being with my fellow swim peeps. I had a childhood trauma that prevented me from learning to swim or putting my head in water. I had let this fear paralyze me for ovet 40 years. I would make New Year's resolution to learn to swim. I would buy swim suits but chicken out and not actually sign up for a class. For some reason, this year I took that step and signed up for classes at Sportsplex in Stamford, CT. I can tell you that day my heart was pounding in my chest and I believed at that moment I was wasting time and money because I wouldn't learn to swim. That for sure I would drown. However, a really nice lady named Lyly Fernandez calmed my fears and promised that she would teach me to swim. I felt some ease but I still had the fear. I am happy to say that I have learned to swim with fins thus far and I have Lyly to thank. I cannot even begin to tell you what you have done. Recently joined as my gym closed, and boy am I glad I did.. Never crowded as equipment is always available. Staff is welcoming and friendly. Facility is very clean and well maintained. The locker room is huge and has steam/sauna. Sportsplex might honestly be Stamford's best kept secret as I only found it after finding it on Yelp. read more

My kids take swimming lessons at Sportsplex. Club is not responsive as far as charging goes. I have cancelled classes a couple of times with over 5 days notice (the requirement is to provide 24 hours notice not to be charged) and in both cases were charged regardless. Then the hassle started to ask for a make up class or simply to have the charge reverted back on credit card - no response. Today I had to call credit card company to dispute such charges. While the club does have great swimming instructors I believe an institution should start by protecting one's payment information and find alarming I have been charged without showing up and with proof of cancelation. read more

My family and I absolutely adore this place! The child care is amazing - the ladies that run that room are so friendly, interactive, and just awesome with the kids. My kids beg to go to the gym! The pool is an amazing temperature and leaves you feeling refreshed rather than grossed out by regular chlorine laden pools. The workout equipment is all up to date and the classes are awesome. There's a great variety. However, what makes this place what it is - and that's amazing - are the really friendly, genuine people who work there. It feels like a family there and every person from the front desk staff to the class teachers is friendly and welcoming. I couldn't recommend this gym enough! read more

I have been a member of Sportsplex Stamford for several years and would recommend it highly. It has a diverse selection of classes and a staff that gets to know its members and their training needs from the desk staff to the trainers. Additionally, the staff is quite honest, having left or lost valuables at the club, they are always recovered. read more

The cost for our family of four was running @$3,000 annually and is only offered as all you can eat with squash, swimming and the fitness equipment. There were various possibilities offered to reduce the cost (like taking 2 months off per year), but these turned out to be more complicated to access than first appeared. The club is convenient and the locker room was kept clean, but didn't feel luxurious considering the price. For example, the exercise bikes were on the old side and wouldn't allow to connect with a device via blue tooth, and the ear ports for the tv's worked only sporadically. We have joined the Stamford YMCA which has an annual cost of $950, comparable equipment and cleanliness, but about 10 minutes further for us. If time is short and money is no object, by all means Sportsplex. However, there is at least one other option offering us at least as much satisfaction at the price. read more

I have been a member of Sportsplex in Stamford for the past 4 years and I just love this gym! The classes are challenging and the instructors have an amazing energy that drives you beyond words! They truly make working out fun! The entire staff is friendly and very personable.They always make you feel comfortable and a part of their family. The facility as a whole is very, very clean! Common areas are extremely comfortable for socializing and the locker rooms are spacious with large showers and clean bathrooms. I highly recommend this gym to anyone who wants to really see results while working out in a fun, clean environment! read more
