Genuinely, this man's negligence as my PCP destroyed me. Firstly, he was 2+ hours late for our…read moreappointment; the whole time, he and his office left me waiting in the exam room. When he came in, he didn't apologize. Instead, he joked about how I didn't seem in a good mood. Our visit was for a PCP check-up, but I needed to discuss my major symptoms: changes in bowel habits, blood in stool, abdominal pain. He stated that because I was vegan/vegetarian, I was fine. IIRC, his exact words were "You're vegan, so you're fine. You won't need to do all those other exams." (i.e. colonoscopy, digital exam, literally anything.) He prescribed me with hemorrhoid cream. As most people trust their doctors, I trusted him, as he was the so-called medical expert. I was hugely wrong. A year later in 2021, I called to schedule an annual follow-up with Dr. Harper as I hadn't heard from his office. I was informed he moved off-island months prior! Had I not called, they never would've notified me. Perhaps not his fault, but we all know how hard it is to find PCPs in Hawai'i, especially through pandemic time. My symptoms persisted, but I continued to believe Dr. Harper, that I was vegan so I was fine and didn't need any other tests done. After finally getting a new PCP in 2022, my new provider was concerned about my symptoms, and referred me to a specialist. After vigorous testing, in early 2023 (THREE years after discussing my symptoms with Dr. Harper), I was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer. At 31 years old. My new PCP also investigated my vitamin levels due to my vegan diet (which Dr. Harper also deemed unworthy of investigation), and we found that I was deficient in Vitamin D3 and B12, which she taught me are vital for healthy-functioning immune and nervous systems. I went through chemotherapy, surgery, and now have long-term side effects from both. Dr. Harper's negligence caused me to not only needlessly suffer through cancer symptoms for THREE years, but also caused cancer to continue spreading in my body for THREE years. At 31 years old, with this diagnosis, my life expectancy was essentially cut in half. With the medical knowledge I have now, I would have advocated more fiercely for myself with Dr. Harper, but I didn't have that knowledge and shouldn't have been expected to. No patient should be expected to have medical expertise on topics like oncology when they visit and pay for a literal medical "professional."

What can we say? Who doesn't love Dr. Harper? Me and hubby saw him in his Kihei location!read more

She is very personable, listens, has a sense of humor (this is important in medicine when you get older, haha). She is also very patient. A big plus is that she is in an office in Kihei. My former PCP seemed "nice enough" but was not really personable, and then she left Maui Medical after I saw her one time!

She gave me her cell and she told me, "only call me once or else I won't answer/respond " she never returned my call! Even after several visits to the office, still NOTHING! They are the absolute WORST!! On Tuesday I took my mom (87 yr old, and very frail) to this office for a physician referral to get Rehab services for her at Hale Makua, this form needs to be FAXED over to HM by Drs office. Thursday morning, I call Hale Makua to check on status of the Drs FAX and guess what??? NO FAX HAS BEEN SENT! The lady at Hale Makua shifted through quite a few papers, so that just put my mom farther down the list!! What takes so long to fax 1 piece of paper??? I'm sure it got lost with the her referral for GI which was supposed to be done in May! The Dr told us that she had a patient waiting since Dec for Hale Makua, I'm wondering if she even sent it back in December for that patient?!!!

They provided a house call for an intense insect bite, and on another occasion my friend and I visited the clinic for IV treatments -- both experiences were smooth and deeply reassuring. The IV therapy was incredibly beneficial; we both felt noticeably restored and revitalized afterward. Dr. Rez and nurse Kenzie made the entire experience feel both medically precise and genuinely caring, which inspires tremendous confidence. Modo Mobile MD offers an elevated, responsive, and truly client-centered level of service. It is an excellent resource to have in Wailea for both urgent needs and proactive wellness support. I would not hesitate to return and highly recommend Dr. Rez and his team.
