There are golf carts (I am not making this up) available to drive the patient (and walker) up through the garage to the destination floor. That is just the beginning. After some twists and turns there is a looong corridor to walk before reaching the lab. Repeat to exit once the lab work is done. Then, down at the curb, you get to wait until an Uber driver succeeds in finding that particular Oakridge garage entrance. There were some absolutely lovely Garda people who let me sit under their awning, helped talking with lost drivers and finally went out into the street to guide the Uber. The lab people were helpful and professional, hence the three stars.

X-rays get taken and then they are to be sent 3 business days to my doctors. I got the x-rays taken on Saturday. Greig Associates at Oakridge didn't send them. What are the workers there doing?!? It is one week later and I still do not know my x-ray results. Doctors need to see x-ray results to know how to treat me. Do I have an infection?!? This is not funny it is fundamental procedure to make sure to send results to my doctors. My results should have been sent to my doctors by Wednesday. Thursday at the latest. BUT NO!!! When I called Greig Associates ONE WEEK 7 days LATER the following Saturday to asked what happened? The receptionist just lied and said it was sent when it wasn't. Ya, sure it was sent only after my doctor requested the results and it arrived to his office Friday. But this does not help me because it is now the weekend and my doctor office is closed so I will have to wait another few days to get the results and get medical care. All the while I keep coughing and not sleeping well. Also, during the x-ray the man taking the x-rays kept asking me to move my shoulders forward and was pushing on my shoulders that made me feel pain. My shoulders are already as forward as far as I can go. Unacceptable all the way around!!! AVOID THIS PLACE!!!

The report our dr got was 4 lines and didn't even list the area in question. Technicians are not suppose to question or judge the patient or the Dr. Will not waste our time going back here. Dr was made aware as to not encourage patients to choose this location. You are putting your health at risk with poor quality care.

Okay, so I preface this review by saying upfront that I am accustomed to medical procedures being…read moredone in the USA (for better or worse. There are lots of pros and cons), and I'm fairly new to the medical system here in Vancouver. I also need to note that I have had at least 15 mammograms in my life to date, so this wasn't my first walk in the mammo park, so to speak. But it WAS my first mammogram here in Vancouver, and wow, it was SO vastly different a procedure here than it's been for me in the States, I totally wasn't expecting what occurred. Perhaps this is the norm here, I don't know, but it sure isn't what I'm accustomed to - and I don't like it. Where to begin? Booking an appointment was easy enough. I contacted BC Cancer Screening on Facebook and they responded immediately and were incredibly helpful online, providing lots of useful info and links to book appointments for mammo's and PAPs. When I called this X-ray office, the friendly lady was able to get me a mammo appt for the following day at 9am. Can't beat that! When I got to the office the next day, I arrived at 8:50am and the waiting room was packed (the office is divided in two, for mammogram patients and also for other X-Ray patients). The mammo check-in area was separate and quick. I sat and waited, noting how sterile and utilitarian the waiting room was. All my past experiences getting mammos were at major American hospitals' breast cancer screening departments, and they always had all the cushy niceties: warm seating areas, artwork on the walls, good magazines, tv's, wifi, free coffees and complimentary snacks, soothing music - a calm, soothing, comfortable area. This was nothing like that; here I felt I was at the DMV or similar, waiting with the masses for my number to be called to be seen for some bureaucratic task of sorts. At 9am on the dot I was summoned inside by a young lady who instructed me to follow her. She never introduced herself or asked me how I was doing. No small talk or any social discourse at all. We got to the mammogram room and she asked me a few medical questions and instructed me to undress from the waist up. Right there! No dressing room. No gown. No privacy whatsoever. Right there in front of her. I complied, as really, why dispense with the illusion of modesty or privacy when one is going to be exposed shortly thereafter to be squeezed into the machine. But I have to say, in my experience of getting 15+ mammo's in my life so far, and hundreds of other medical procedures in the past, (not to mention the fact that I have worked in the medical field, in labs and hospitals for many, many years), I have never experienced or heard of a patient being instructed to undress directly in front of the medical professional and not given a gown. It was unsettling to me, and because the tech didn't ask how I was beforehand or engage with me in any semblance of non-medical conversation, the experience was incredibly sterile and impersonal and cold. For a mammogram experience, where we women are being screened for a "womanly" cancer, in the States they go out of their way to make the experience as MINIMALLY uncomfortable and cold as possible. Here, they made the experience as impersonal and cold as they possibly could. Let's just say that I would NOT want this to be my daughters' first mammo experience, when they are older. The good news is, I was dressed and walking out of the office at 9:08 am. Yes, you read that right, the whole experience took 8 minutes in total, including undressing and re-dressing. I've never in my life had such a fast mammo experience. It felt like an assembly line there and I was just another cog in the machine. (The advantage to this, of course, is if one is a busy professional, you can be assured of getting in and out of here very, very quickly). Ultimately, what matters most is the accuracy of the mammo machine and the skills of the technician and the doctors who interpret the results, right? I have to assume that the machine and the expertise of the techs and doctors here are excellent, and that's what matters most. So I rate this place highly for their skillsets and, God knows, for how efficiently they run the office. But for the "bedside manner" stuff, and making patients comfortable...not so much.

When the x-ray technician asked how I injured my foot, I explained that when I was heading to my bathroom in the dark, I kept forgetting about a big box in the hallway that I was shipping to a friend in the Philippines. On three different occasions I had bashed my bare foot on the corner of the box. To my surprise he asked was it a Balikbayan box? When I said yes, he said that's a very big shipping box and quite heavy when fully loaded. He was very thorough in getting images of my foot from numerous angles and it wasn't long before I was out of their office.

Medical history is done online prior to your appointment. The facility has two MRI machines. A full body scan takes about 45mins. There are small private change rooms complete with phone chargers. Copies of results can be furnished to your family doctor if you wish. You can also request for a digital copy in a USB. Highly recommend.

There is a fancy coffee machine that brews various types of coffee, a selection of tea, apples, various individually packaged snacks - granola bars, kettle corn, trail mix, etc. Once inside, you are placed in an individual waiting room where you change and put on a set of Prenuvo scrubs. There is a tray for valuables, and charging cord for your cell phone (which I really appreciated) I did the full body scan last time, and it was pretty uncomfortable to lie there for that long. They've upgraded now - it feels like a bed now. I was so comfortable during my scan, I actually fell asleep. They also have this headset type thing that you can watch Netflix or YouTube on. Customer service is pretty good and quick to respond to any questions. Booking process is fast and easy, albeit due to the popularity, you may have to book quite far in advance.

As before, you don't need an appointment to be seen (they take walk-ins for x-rays, but you'll need an appt for bone density testing). Unlike last time, there was a 30 minute wait this time, with patients seated in the small waiting area and also standing outside the door. I was reminded of how clean yet sterile this place is. White hospital-like walls without any artwork or color. Basic metal chairs in the waiting room; nothing plush or designed for comfort. Clean, yes, but not inviting in any way. I was reminded of how cool and aloof the employees are here. There are two: the lady behind the front counter who does the scheduling and checks you in, and the man who is the radiology tech. Not once did either of these people look me in the eye, talk to me directly or smile in any way, shape or form. They were both robotic-like, in every way. It was particularly unnerving with the radiologist who actually positioned my knee properly for x-raying. To have someone actually touch you yet never look at you is especially disconcerting somehow. But the lady receptionist, too, never looked at me, yet still talked to me when I checked in, verified my info, took my ID to verify, etc. I have to say, I've never encountered such distant, disconnected staff in any medical practice or clinic ever in my 61 years. I am taking off one star from my previous review, not because of the impersonal patient care here, but because of the clinic's mask policy. There are signs everywhere, outside and in, saying that masks are mandatory in this clinic, and they even provide free masks for patients if you forget yours. I love this, and feel safer when everyone is wearing a mask in an indoor setting with no windows. So I was particularly surprised and dismayed when the lady at the front counter was maskless. I was there for 40-45 minutes and she never had one on or even nearby. This is the woman who is in contact with every patient who comes through the door, checks them in, handles their ID. She is the common denominator to every single person who enters the room. And she doesn't wear a mask. Go figure. Thankfully all of us patients complied with the posted mandatory mask policy. So at least there's that.

Test results sent to my GP were incorrect causing a great deal of stress as the results indicated possibility of cancer. It was only after I requested the paper copy from my GP so I could try to locate a Gyno in Vancouver who could see me quickly, that I realized the stated measurement and radiologists wording did not make sense. This lead me to ask for a referral to a different US clinic only to find out that the reading of 33 mm should have been 3 mm. Careless typo that caused myself, friends and family un necessary stress for the last 2 weeks.
