I visited Grekin Skin Institute May 7, 2024 for flaky skin on my face. The doctor saw me for about 5 minutes and sprayed a cold spray onto the affected area. They billed BCBS $420 for a "surgery". No anesthesia or cutting were performed. No expensive equipment utilized. And yet they feel they have the right to charge $420 for this. That's on top of $466 just to walk in the door for a total billed of $866. The contracted price brings this down to $269 which is still absurd. This is insurance fraud plain and simple. They billed a surgery for something that should not have been charged considering the walk in the door fee. The billing department was totally uninterested in this matter and never returned my calls. Billing is questionable and wait time is excessive. Doctor spent less than 10 minutes with me and they billed BCBS for a 30 minute visit, code 99203 for $393 for office visit. When I inquired about this they said "that's just what we do". They bill for the first lesion removal/destruction under billing code 17000 for $245, and if there's a 2nd lesson it's billed under code 17003 for $325. Be aware of there prices before your visit. I arrived 15 minutes early as requested and still had to wait almost an hour before being called back. Once in the exam room I waited again for about 15 minutes with just a large paper sheet to cover up. When the doctor finally entered the exam room he half- jokingly said if I was a lady they would have turned the heater on for me. Hah Not sure I'm going back to this office and will be looking for another provider. read more

So I've been sitting on this review for a little while. It's been over a week since I've had my appointment and I've just kind of been really evaluating my thoughts. Since summer started and we've been outside a LOT more and spending longer time in the sun, I've noticed sun damage on the skin on my face. It's really popped out and become quite noticeable (to me, at least). I wanted to get an evaluation first to make sure that the spots weren't malignant, and second to see what could be done to make them go away. I did get an appointment right away, the very next morning in fact, which was great! The receptionist didn't ask the reason for my visit and didn't prep me for anything. I gathered up all my sunscreens and skin care items anyway because I wanted the provider to take a look at them and make sure they were of good quality and most importantly offered enough protection. Check in was fine and all COVID precautions were taken. Intake finally asked the reason for my visit and took a little more history before the provider came in. The provider was efficient as far as time, but I also felt that the attention and care was somewhat lacking. I had to point out my areas of concern instead of the provider noticing or evaluating for herself. I didn't really get a diagnosis for any of my discolorations, except one that was "maybe a melasma." I also had to prompt the provider for ways to clear up the spots and then also had to bring out my skin care and sunscreens for her to review. She gave them a cursory inspection but nothing very in-depth. The provider did say that they have "lasers" that I could try to help with the discoloration. After she left, the MA was very helpful with giving me the cards for the cosmetic dermatologist and esthetician that work there. Later in the afternoon I called and talked with the esthetician who clarified and said that they do not have laser therapy for the kind of service I needed. She said that there were creams and other skin care items that I could use to fade the discoloration, or that there was also a skin peel that I could do, however it would be better to do that in the fall or winter when I won't be in the sun as much. If you get a chemical skin peel, you must stay out of the sun for about two weeks -- no sun exposure! The esthetician was great! I felt like I got more of what I needed from her than from my visit with the provider. I will definitely call back and schedule a consult with the esthetician in the fall/winter, and since we had a pretty good informative discussion I trust her expertise and will follow her advice at that time. So I'm thinking it was just the specific provider that I was scheduled with that day. Overall the office was great. Clean, precautions taken, friendly, and enough clientele that I feel like they have patients that have good experiences there. And it's not that I had a bad experience, it was just a little unfulfilling with the provider I had. Wish I were giving a star rating for the doctor but this Institute's lack of any technological savviness made that impossible. I found this location on my insurance providers website. Booked an appointment on the Institute's website, chose my insurance from their drop down box of choices, entered my insurance ID information and attached a picture of the front and back of my insurance card. A day later received an email and text that my insurance was confirmed. During the week I was waiting for the appointment to come I received daily email and text reminders. Come the day of my appointment I arrived at the office only to be told they do not accept my insurance. I explained to the front desk that I send a photo of my insurance card and received confirmation that it was confirmed. They preceded to tell me that their corporate office that handled this information was based in Florida and they did not know about what insurance was accepted at this location. Seriously??? I can not understand why the office that handles online booking, looks at the insurance card photos and approves the insurance information would not know what insurance each location accepts. This is totally unprofessional. If this company thinks they are technologically savvy enough to have online appointment scheduling then they need to fix the major kinks in their system so others do not waste their time and gas money for no reason. read more

Disappointing. The staff is nice enough, but the practitioners are poorly trained and bad listeners. They really need to update their understanding of how to treat wounds resulting from the biopsies they perform, beyond referring people to wound clinics. Prescribing topical antibiotics when a patient has mentioned a history of sensitivity is a no-no. They can't even recognize when the maceration around a wound has gotten so bad the skin begins to slough off. After a month of repeated visits and no improvement to my wound left by their biopsy, I discarded their bad advice and went with a simple internet search. Two weeks later, I'm all better. read more

I don't have insurance, and was charged $145 for a less than 5 minute office visit. The scheduler quoted me a price of $105 for uninsured patients. Next time I'll call around for a more affordable location. read more

Had an appointment scheduled with Dr. Grekin for about a month. Arrived day of appointment and was told they called earlier in the week to cancel the appointment. I never received a call! I considered rescheduling but the earliest they could get me in was June 17th. Hell no, especially if this happens again! Ill find somewhere else to go. read more

The staff at Dr. Grekin's office is wonderful, professional and warm. Gail did ultrasounds montly for me - was terrific!! They have diagnosed many skin cancers, and did Mohs surgery for me. I highly reccomend this practice!! read more

I've been going here for 3 years for skin cancer. The staff is wonderful. fast, efficient, clean, comfortable lobby. They stay very busy and typically a 15-20 minute wait, never more than that. My services were covered under insurance so I don't know what pricing is like here for cosmetic treatment. read more

I wish I could leave a post with zero stars. I do need to add a disclaimer, that the office manager Jennifer is PHENOMENAL and I wish the rest of the staff was as educated, kind, and professional as her. I decided to go on accutane. I have been on it before so I understand the registration process and all of the steps involved. To save lengthly details, I completed the process and did everything I could on my end just to find out that after the 30 day waiting period, when I was SUPPOSED to be starting my medication, that the office did not file my paper work properly with iPledge and that there was no way around it, I had to wait another 30 days to start my medication. They assured me that everything was taken care of and in 30 days it would be a simple and quick process and I would be on my medication. My frustration started with my NP coming into the room and saying "Oh wait....so you haven't even started the accutane yet?" After I explained the situation and that I just needed another pregnancy test to get started, she said she wasn't sure if it was urine or blood or both and that she would check.I brushed it off and appreciated her admitting she wasn't positive but would find out for me. She even offered to have them come draw my blood in the mean time to save me some time. After a few minutes I hear a mans voice VERY loudly talking about how he has no clue what is going on. He has no clue if I can even start today or not, he has no idea what is going on. After hearing this exchange, that was pretty much my last straw. I had already given the office another chance after my start date was delayed due to the paperwork not being filed properly with iPledge. The office staff did not even have enough professionalism to ensure that after one mistake, they were prepared the second time. I did not raise my voice, but I came out of my room and said that I was leaving because its unsettling that no one knows whats going on especially after I was contacted to ensure that I would give the office another chance. Call me crazy, but I assumed that if a mistake was made once, extra efforts would be taken to ensure that the same mistakes were not made again. I said I wasn't willing to move forward because if I can't trust the office I am using with paperwork or even to all be on the same page, how am I supposed to trust them with such a serious medication? At that point, Dr. Grekin, my first exchange with him ever, started yelling at me, in front of his whole staff which I can only assume is a regular occurrence then, called my "claims about trust absolutely ludicrous" and that it "was not their fault at all, its the federal government and the paper work and if I have a problem to call my senator." No apology, no accountability, no empathy for the frustration I was feeling. The doctor with his name on the door raised his voice at me and then tells me to call my senator. Well, I sure can't file the paperwork myself, so then who's fault was it? I do not work with the office staff day, my name is not on the office door, so who's fault it is that the office staff is uneducated on a product and the procedures with it that they prescribe to patients? The office manager, who does not have MD after her name was more knowledgable than Dr. Grekin and the NPs that I dealt with. Now that's a scary thought. I scheduled all of my appointments on Saturdays and later to fit in with my schedule. Since the mix up with the paperwork, I had to miss time at work to come in the office today. When I called the office back to speak to the one I originally was dealing with just to update her on the situation someone else answered. He said he was just about to call me because my prescription was called in and I just need blood and urine done. Why on Gods green earth would I fill a prescription and start a very expensive regimen of treatment with a doctor that just acted like an irrational, condescending, abrasive jerk and is too proud to call and apologize for his behavior himself? read more

I would not recommend this dermatologist. After graduating college and moving to a new city, I needed a new dermatologist. This dermatologist is the most abrasive and rudest person I have ever met. Dr. Rubin literally had an interaction with me for less than 5 minutes and told me my face sucks 5 different times. The reason why I was there, is because I wanted to know more about Dermarolling - to get rid of a few dark spots on my face. It would cost $650 for one session and I would need about 6 separate sessions. I was no longer interested in Dermarolling. The doc then began to pressure me into popping a few pimples on my face that were not ready to be extracted. He had his assistant forcibly press down on my face with a lancer until blood came out. I suggested he use a needle to create an exit for the blood instead of bursting my skin open with a lancer that would lead to even more scars. Terrible experience, would not recommend. read more
