Just outside Sheridan, this rest stop has a scenic view from the top of a hill, a large open green…read morespace with picnic tables and a pet walking area. The parking lot is larger than most with plenty of room for campers but there isn't any overnight parking. The visitor information center is equally impressive, with all the tourist information needed both local and around the state. and, when staffed, has knowledgeable locals. It's a good rest area to take a break, breathe the fresh air, enjoy the view and relax for a bit before hitting the road again.

The Roberts Rest Stop is one of Montana's seasonal rest areas, open from Mid-April through…read moreMid-November. It's accessible from either the north- or south-bound lanes, but when coming from the south, would require a left turn. It's a standard rest area, with parking for trucks and cars, and includes handicap accessible areas. There's a small picnic area and also a pet-walking area. I don't remember seeing any vending machines, and that makes sense at this rest stop given its seasonal availability. It's a nice area to get out and stretch or give the kids and your four-legged companions a break.
