Friends and family... If you know me you know my mother is in a wheelchair. Has been since she was…read more17. Of course she has faced many difficulties and set backs, but she always figures it out. Which brings me to the situation at hand... She paid $91.50 for a #Greyhound bus ticket from Fort Wayne, IN to Knoxville, TN to return home after visiting friends and family up north. With any #Greyhound bus there is usually a change of busses throughout the trip. Upon arriving in Dayton, OH to catch her connecting bus to Cincinnati, OH, she was informed that the bus she was supposed to get on had a malfunctioning wheelchair lift. Her ticket clearly states she is confined to a wheelchair, yet they have a bus with a broken lift. Sometimes mistakes are made, and they get her onto the next bus to Cincinnati with a working lift. After arriving in Cincinnati, she is informed she has missed the connecting bus from Cincinnati to Knoxville... So what does #Greyhound proceede to do..? They put her on a bus from Cincinnati to Louisville, to Nashville, then to Knoxville. Not only was there bugs on the bus, the bus was stopped and an another passenger is arrested. My mother was originally due to arrive in Knoxville at 6pm on July 10. After everything (including sitting on the lift after arriving in Knoxville because they couldn't figure out how to operate the lift) my mom got home at 2:15am July 11th. So an easy trip turned into a TWENTYTHREE HOUR ordeal. For the duration of the bus ride, she was unable to use the restroom, eat, drink, or even smoke a cigarette. Of course after having to see my mom in agony from sitting in her chair so long I call #Greyhound customer service. After being on hold for over an hour and being offered a $50 refund I was finally connected to a supervisor. After just a few short minutes, this supervisor hangs up on me. So I call back and am on hold again, and finally begin speaking with a man who informs me that his records show no issues or delays pertaining to my mothers ticket. (Like she had been just wheeling around for 13 hours for the hell of it) While trying to communicate the order of events and setbacks, he also hangs up on me. #Greyhound owes my mother a FULL refund, as well as an apology. Not only that, but I want #Greyhound to fully understand this situation, and take measures to assure this never happens to anybody else. Please help me get the word out there.
