I'm stuck in Birmingham right now, so I thought I'd review to pass the time. As far as bus stations go, most people keep their expectations fairly low. If you do this, you'll have great respect for the Birmingham Greyhound station. I took a bus from Nashville, TN at 3:45am to Birmingham at 7am to connect to the Amtrak at noon. Nothing really opens in this city until about 9am, so I slept at the station until about 8:30am. A staff member woke me up to know where I'm going, so I told him I was waiting for a business to open up for breakfast. He was delighted to show me a spot a block over that just opened, and I wound up getting a friendly escort from another staff member who wanted to grab some brekkie as well. Since America isn't allowed to have lockers in transport depots anymore, they were kind enough to hold my bag while I went about town. They gave me directions to the Museum of Civil Rights and the Public Library, which were only a few streets away! Greyhounds have a knack for being in dodgy areas of town, but I'd say safety isn't too much of a factor in the early morning for sure. I'm really wowed by this Greyhound! Good job guys! read more

There is room for so much improvement here. I frequent this location at least once every two months when my visits. The insides look like they could use a deep cleaning. Everything seems to be dated and out of order which is frustrating because not too far down the road Amtrak has redone their entire terminal and to my understanding there's more bus traffic than train traffic. read more

a few days ago I booked a trip to for me and my wife the tickets were over priced so had to push my trip back a few days and to save money I gues because it's incone tax season their prices are real expensive I booked the tickets online a couple hours later I called the 800 number to see if I could change the day of travel and their representative informed me that my tickets were refunded and a voucher was given I checked my gmail to make sure my account wazn't compromised my 2 cell phones were the only phones signed in so there is no way anyone could get my booking number I called greyhound 15 times in 24 hours the first few calls nobody could give me any info as I called some of there representative started spilling the beans 3 conformation numbers later my ticket was refunded and sold on a bogus greyhound site to a guy who thought he was going be traveling today but they ne dealt with a customer as persistent as me their representative aren't supposed to give us any information about the voucher what email was used the name on the voucher or nothin for that matter but after 24 hours of me calling I was able to complete an investigation of my own and talk to the person who they sold my ticket to I let him know I cancelled his ticket and refunded it to myself they only refund half of the money to you in the form of a voucher my two tickets came out to $426 after cancelling his ticker I know have 129$ voucher I will never use because I'm taking. This Greyhound station is at a Uhaul rental store. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting and the parking lot is unpaved. There's no vending and it's not a good place to wait on a bus. I would avoid this station if you can. read more

I swore I would not ride a bus again but due to recent auto issues while traveling I had no choice. I had to spend time at several Greyhound stations and for the most part all seem the same when I comes to how the employees treat the passengers, horrible. They talk to you with attitude all the time like they stressed out about their job. When people ask them a simple question like the status of their bus, or what bus they need to get on, all fair questions by the way they are met with animosity in the response. They would announce a delay in the arrival of a bus and get upset when customers, whom is trying to get somewhere maybe work themselves, is upset by the news. The recent news was a 2 hour delay in the bus arrival. How do a company get 2 hours behind schedule and not have a back up plan or some type of accommodation to keep its customers satisfied. Recommendations: Many public transportation installation has a view screen some where to keep the public updated on most questions that is often ask by passengers. This will help keep the employees calm and only focus on asking the questions from people who can't read or to dumb to check out the screen for information. Second as a ground transportation element you are at the mercy of traffic, weather, road conditions, and other factors that can affect the efforts of you timing process but you should always anticipate that and have a back up plan once the bus drop back like 2 HOURS behind. I refuse to believe that a company this vast can't make a change to ensure the general publics satisfaction. Lastly much of my time spent with Greyhound was waiting for a delayed bus or a planned lay over as long as 6 hours. There were not enough seats in the terminal for everyone and the seat (metallic benches) were painful after prolonged sitting which they force you to do with long layovers and delays. Come on Greyhound let's get it together please. This is a great company but you need to check some of your stations and employees for cleaning and customer satisfaction abilities. There is a customer service department that people hang out in and get upset when you ask a question at the CUSTOMER SERVICE AREA really! ! read more

Beware if you use Greyhound for any kind of travel. If your luggage or carry on bag is lost it is a frustrating process. Any U.S. phone number u are given automatically transfers you to a call center in the Phillipinnes with Asian people who speak broken English and you will never get to speak to an American!! read more

The women's restroom is the most disgusting I have seen in a greyhound station. The "restaurant" is a joke, but when you're hungry, you're hungry right. Its a pretty small station with limited seats. This station just doesn't have a lot going for it, however I did encounter a friendly security guard that kindly answered my question as opposed to being rude like most other greyhound staff members. It also seems to be in a decent location if you want to go out for a walk during daylight hours. read more

It stinks in here!! It's really crowded! Not enough chairs!! This restaurant sells gas station sandwiches at Subway prices... A hotdog is $3.39! That's outrageous! Just here for an hour.. I'll eat in 4 hours! Mississippi here I come!! read more

After leaving Montgomery's Greyhound terminal, this is a breath of fresh air. Much cleaner and many more useful facilities for the public. Larger waiting area as well and they even have a restaurant for the hungry weary travelers among us. read more

Horrible horrible experience. Never experienced anything like this before. So for everyone who have traveled Greyhound before you know they stop in Many different places. Well at 12:15 midnight the bus stop here in Birmingham. Myself and other passengers were suppose to only wait there until 2:05 am and make our way to our final destination. However things didn't go that way. When 2:05 came were told that our particular bus was late and it will arrive in a hour by other bus drivers who was pulling in. Hours passed and the bus Never came. We were all stranded in the roach infested station here in Birmingham. At 7:00 am I walk over to the service desk to inquire questions about why the bus never showed up? Why did they issue tickets knowing that buses were'nt traveling to tallahasee? Why didnt anyone issue us an hotel for the awful inconvience?The two desk attendants could not answer any of my questions. Instead the lady I was'nt even speaking to jump in the converstation and said get over it, you will be leaving at 4pm and you won't arrive to your final destination until midnight. I'm looking at her like how dare you tell me to get over it. For one I was not talking to you, for two I paid 130 dollars for my ticket not you. I been stranded for hours and had to sleep in a bus stations not you. I then ask is there someone I can call or speak to about this and she grabs a piece a paper and said NEXT. I couldn't believe how rude, disrespectful and horrible they were to customers who had to endure so much nonsense. I then ask the lady her name she turns around and says why. I said because I need to know your name she finds this clip board slams it in the desk and says I'm the boss if you want to know my name read this and look me up online. Then she turns around tell me if you keep talking I will have you escorted out of here and you will have to find some other way to get home. I was extremely dissatisfied about how unprofessional, mulnipulating and disrepectdul she was to me. I said what I had to say and sat down. Next thing I know the police were in my face asking me to leave and asking me to give them my ticket so I can get a refund. I am now stuck in Birmingham by myself and upset about how rude Vannesss McGhee was.The police had to tell me her name because she wouldn't. Hey name is Vannessa McGhee. She so call run the bus station in birrmingham alabama. Someone needs to get rid of this lady. Even the police officers said she was wrong and unprofessional about the way she handle things. So... First off, today 7/4/2015 @7pm there is a heavy set and shorter women with puffy hair working. All they care about is gossiping, their customer service is non existent, and they are down right rude. A disgrace to Greyhound if I say so myself. The bus that we're suppose to be boarding to Tallahassee is unboardable for us, because it's not Tallahassee bound. Even tho, it states that it is. We've been waiting for 5 hours and now can't board a bus going that way. The women working pretty much spit in our face with the issue. Since we're 15,000 miles away from home and have to deal with the rudest individuals yet, I have to say, I will never support greyhound again until this issue is fixed. The new bus station in Birmingham is better than the old one. It's a bright and open building with floor-to-roof windows and good security. Greyhound and Amtrak are together in the same building. Next door is the local transit center, which also has a small cafe and a Megabus stop. Restaurants are within a short walk and railroad park is about two blocks away. When you see it you will agree it's one of the best bus stations in the entire region! read more
