Named after Ana Kendrick and Ana Karenina, this is the heart of regional transit for this part of the OC. The Santa Ana bus station is right downtown at 1000 East Santa Ana Boulevard and usually closes at 5:30 p.m. which is a little bit unusual, but it's basically part of the Santa Ana Regional transport center, and on holidays the hours are even more restrictive. It's an absolutely beautiful Center, and they built it looking like some kind of a Spanish Villa or Mission. Like a huge beautiful Citadel with the typical red and white buildings looking rustic and tanned and sunkissed, and palm trees and an absolutely gorgeous stairwell overlooking the Amtrak rails. It's been made absolutely beautiful and is a great example of how perfect California is. But that's Orange County for you. When business called for me to go to Tijuana for a couple of days from LA, I was contemplating my transportation options--drive, Greyhound bus, or Amtrak? The advantage on paper pointed to Go Greyhound so I decided "why not?" It's 2019 so there must be major improvements since the old days. Advantages: Faster (by schedule) to San Ysidro, less expensive than the train, I don't have to drive. Faster by schedule than train only because it takes you all the way to the San Ysidro border crossing. The train only goes to Santa Fe station then it's another 40 mins or so to take the trolley to the border. This was the deciding factor. The trip: Bus arrived about 20 minutes late to the Santa Ana bus station. I picked this station because it avoids the journey through LA and it was about the same distance for me to go to Santa Ana than to Union Station. This was also an express bus so there was only to be one more stop in San Diego before the border. We arrived about 20 minutes late which equals the late arrival so the scheduled trip time was pretty close. Seats were leather and relatively comfortable, but leg room was about the same as your standard economy flight--cramped. WiFi signal was poor so I just used my mobile carrier signal. I deliberately waited until my train ride back home to write this review so I could compare Amtrak to Greyhound. I'm glad I did. As I sit on the train stuck in San Juan Capistrano after a train accident with the train ahead of me, I can say this Greyhound experience is less risky than the train. Amtrak is much more comfortable and they have a Business Class option that allows you plenty of room to get some work done. See my Amtrak review. Given a choice again, I would reluctantly take the train with a risk factor. Only because I can make better use of the time. However, if I'm on a schedule constraint I might take Greyhound or just drive. I have to give Greyhound 4 stars because, based on this trip, they can be counted on to get you there within a certain time window if not on time. Seats are acceptable and it's cheap so the value is there. Don't buy the Economy plus. They do not honor priority seating so the only advantage is you get to change your schedule within a given day at no extra charge. Go Greyhound! read more

Greyhound is horrible. I input a departure city and arrival city. I select the fare and pay. My ticket print and I notice immediately the departure city changed, is different than what I input. I call and ask for help but was told my ticket is non-refundable. I explained what happened but they said they couldnt help. They suggested I log back in and order the correct ticket and call back tomorrow to show proof and then I would get a refund. Well, when I logged back in the same senerio happen. I input the correct city (took pictures for each step) and sure enough the departure city changed! Greyhound is in no shape or form worth the money. It's worth the cost to buys the flight ticket. My first departure was 5 hours late, then canceled. I was forced to stay overnight and through the day until the next open seat became available and that bus was just under 2 hours late which forces a late arrival at the connecting station in Los Angeles therefore missing the departure and forcing yet another day. I called customer service and was told that they could refund me 20$ and then hung up on twice when I asked what the other option were. In all, an extremely bad experience and I do not recommend Greyhound to anyone. read more

Bought mother bus ticket from Anaheim to Phoenix. Bus had broken AC then broke down in middle of desert last week. They had to call paramedics for water and give patients Intravenous fluids. One pregnant girl got even more care in the ambulance. They waited 4 hours for another bus to come. Finally got to Phoenix 14 hours after leaving Anaheim. So disappointing- called for refund and they refused - only offered a $20 discount on a future ride. This company is circling the drain - customer service terrible and condition of vehicles is beyond poor. read more

What a F***en Ass****! First time going on the train. When the train pulled up I walked on it and wasn't sure to stay on or not since there was no employee there. I walked off and walked to the back where I saw an employee and he wouldn't open the door. I showed him my ticket and just waived me off. Well, I guess you get what you pay for. Their tickets are cheap for a reason. Some of their buses do not contain chargers/plugs as advertised. Also, do not schedule with Greyhound if you are on a strict time schedule as both or outgoing and incoming buses were about 2 hours delayed. I'm literally sitting at a bus stop right now writing this review .... just waiting .... and waiting ... Also, a female employee at the Los Angeles location was very rude to a lot of customers, including myself. I was told to go into a certain line associated with my boarding number. Once I did, I waited in line patiently and once it was my turn she turned to another line with another boarding number. I showed her my ticket and she said "I already started with this line and already boarded your number, now you'll have to wait." I was in line for my boarding number! Had my stuff shipped from California to stl. It was simple and reasonable. Some boxes were pretty damaged but it only had clothes inside. It got to me in a timely mannner. The staff inside of the stl location was great. This one guy was super helpful and helped me load my boxes in my car. He allowed me to come early and pick up the boxes before everything arrived. Defiantly would use greyhound again to ship things cross country. read more

Greyhound needs better customer service and communication skills. I had to transfer to another bus and no one was able to tell me which bus to take. They were rude and bitchy as if we supposed to know where to go. I missed the bus and the girl at the ticket counter was not helpful. The worst f**king experience i ever never had. I reserve a ticket from anaheim-san jose ,which has a bus change in los angles , the first connecting bus was late by an hour and i missed the connecting bus. When i questned them , the reply was next bus in the morning 7:30, what i have to do from 11-30pm to 7:30 am. And more over which is useless i cant reach in time for my work. I asked atleast for a refund of my fare, the greatest reply was , its a non- refundable ticket, wowww then whoz gonna pay my refund , my total loss of work . And my pain waited for four hours at LA, 1 1/2 hour at anaheim, funny thing is that i even booked a return ticket which is non- refundable as well. Customer service was so rude. charged me 15 to change it at the station. I almost clicked one star, but I'm trying to look on the positive side. I was taking a trip from Santa Ana, CA to Las Vegas, NV. I was told to arrive 30 minutes early which I did at 7am for a 7:30 departure. The bus did not arrive until 9:02am, but the driver was trying to catch up time so we left quickly at 9:13. We stopped for a scheduled 30 minute break which I'm guessing was necessary for the driver to take a break. The bus was scheduled to arrive at 2:10pm but did not arrive until 3:24. The bus wifi was not reliable but strangely the hotspot on my iPhone 4S worked just fine. The power outlets are not on every set of seats, and the outlet on my seat did not work. The return trip was better though I had to ask the driver to turn the wifi on. I actually got back earlier than scheduled, and found it strange that the driver left my stop earlier than scheduled. Hopefully he knew that no one was getting on, and thus could leave early, but I would not put leaving passengers behind beyond Greyhound based on the stories of others. There's very few reasons for people to take Greyhound, and here they are: *You are an illegal alien. *You are carrying weapons, or drugs. *You are too broke to buy a plane ticket. *You are afraid of flying. *You have time to waste. *You enjoy seeing the land. *You think flying is horrible, and want to restore your faith in flying. The slight amount of money you would save by taking Greyhound is not worth the time you would lose on Greyhound. I would rather be strip searched at the airport. read more

When I got to the station 1 hour ahead of schedule, and asked the ticket clerk about the station of my bus. The clerk demanded my ticket, and then promptly changed my schedule without my consent. He changed it to 7 hours past the original scheduled time of my bus. Apparently, Greyhound likes to overbook on purpose so that in event that people cancel their tickets, they will have enough to justify sending out one bus; or on the flip side, if they get enough 'reservations' to send out another bus. According to the clerk, buying a ticket isn't actually buying a ticket. It is reserving a seat and paying the price ahead of time. This particular trip had enough to fill one bus (54 reserved seats) plus 14 people. They also apparently give priority to people who board at the first stop (In my case, this was San Diego). I was one of the 9 unfortunate people who weren't at the first stop. So they decided that they would not give me a seat on the first bus, and since 14 people weren't enough to justify sending another bus, they dumped us on the next schedule. When I asked the clerk not to do this, he said that I should be lucky that he didn't charge me $15 for a schedule change fee. I had paid for my tickets three months in advance with non-refundable tickets. I was going to board that bus or lose all of my money. Hell, my party were boarding number 1 and 2. But he did not care. When I come back 7 hours later, a women is at the ticket counter. When I tell her what her predecessor told me, she said that he shouldn't have done any of those things and that I should have been able to get on that bus. So I've been lied to either by the first person or the second person. I am just glad to be done with the experience. The staff are atrocious, the people you ride on the bus with are nice though. read more

A gentleman by the name of Nestor saved the day for my mother, which should have been dropped off in Oceanside catching a bus from San Ysidro. She bought a ticket at 6:40a.m, departure was for 7:40a.m and the bus had never arrived. She walked up to the gentleman at the desk on the bus arrival, and was then told she'd be departing with the 9:45a.m bus to Oceanside. 9:45a.m came around and she got on that bus, then as going up north on the 5 freeway the bus driver passed the Oceanside depot, and told the driver he was suppose to stop in Oceanside. He then stated no he's stopping in the City of Santa Ana, so she then called me which then I called Oceanside and a gentleman told me they had canceled the the buses to Oceanside in the A.M. I asked him, why they did not notify the passengers on the bus cancellation, and he said he had no idea and to call Santa Ana. I called but their had been no answer and after a couple of minutes Nestor had answer. I told him all that had happened, which he then notified me on the Oceanside bus was still at his lot, and he'd notify the driver to wait around till my mom had arrived. I called my mom after that call, telling her to go straight to the office and notify who she was and that her son had called. She called me after she had gotten on the bus ride to Oceanside and stated Nestor had been standing out by the Oceanside Bus and verified that my mom had gotten on the right bus to Oceanside. Thank you Nestor and all that you had done for my mom, I appreciate the Amazing assistants i was given. I hope who ever his management is gives him a great raise and awards him! I thought I would take an adventure by taking the Greyhound into Mexico. Leaving the Los Angeles terminal, the bus transmission began failing. We had to exit the freeway and limped to the Santa Ana station. (We literally drove in 3 block increments before the engine would stall and the bus needed to be restarted again.) So, in hopes of getting some form of refund or credit, I logged onto their website. The area on the site where the customer can leave a comment, concern or ask a question, also has a space where one must enter a departure and arrival time. That box must be entered correctly otherwise it won't send your communication. Greyhound has programmed those two boxes NOT to accept any time as valid! I tried several variations of 7:40 am and none of them worked. I tried with periods, without, military time, with hyphen, without... Basically, Greyhound does not want to hear your feedback or questions! They want YOUR money but will not refund YOUR money if they fail in their delivery. It's like a restaurant burning your food in the kitchen, and charging you for the meal that went in the trash!! read more

Well for one they lost our tickets then try to get us to pay again for another ticket at a later departure time, didn't tell us we could just reprint our ticket UNTIL we figured it out and was already too late. On June 14th my wife and I took a Greyhound bus for the first time. From Santa Ana to Las Vegas. I will never ride Greyhound again, it was the worst experience I've had in a while. The bus was old the seats very uncomfortable. The bus driver was extremely rude. Talk to the passengers like we were on a prison transport. When I arrived at the Gilespy Las Vegas bus terminal, the driver made an announcement that no one had logged in with that terminal as their final destination. And because of that he would not unload anyone's luggage. My and several other customers clearly had that terminal as our disbarment on our tickets. I am 70 years old with back issues. I had to crawl up into the bus luggage compartment and drag my and my wife's luggage out because this driver refused to. As a result of my experience I booked my return with Megabus (wonderful), greyhound could keep my back end portion of my fair; Greyhound never again!! read more

This review is about Greyhound Bus Service in general. Worst customer service I've ever encountered. The website is bad, if not useless. DO NOT waste your time trying to track a bus. Hell, Greyhound has no clue where their buses are. I bought a ticket for an employee to travel from Casper, WY to Santa Ana, CA. (Had to book it thru BHL, a "member" bus line.) Travel with them went fine. My employee transferred to Greyhound in Denver...that's where the trouble started. Delays, late buses and a breakdown requiring a 3-5 hour wait for another bus to pick them up 300 miles east of Las Vegas. I tried calling customer service to find out what the delayed arrival time would be. Initially,they could only read from the itinerary... 3 hours later (and god knows how many different people I was told to call who could help me) I finally told that there was a 2 hour delay, yet the bus would arrive 4 hours late. Worst part is, I have used Greyhound many times over the years, but it's been quite some time. It was always easy to track anything, passengers or packages. If I owned stock in Greyhound, I would sell it immediately. I will never do business with them again. read more

This summer, I got married and relocated from California to Ohio. I sent five large boxes with greyhound package express, and upon dropping them off I was told they would two weeks maximum. IT TOOK THEM THREE MONTHS. Greyhound is beyond negligent. They are careless, and the customer service line is less than helpful, and astonishingly rude. To anyone reading reviews, don't use greyhound. Neither package express nor their buslines. This ridiculous, lame excuse for a company didn't not label my boxes correctly leading to two of them being lost. Then somehow, one was found, and the other one was nowhere to be heard of. None of the transit stations could tell me if they'd seen it. That is of course after spending hours trying to get into contact with them to begin with. My husband and I had to drive to Toledo - which is an almost 2 and a half hour drive from where we live - to see if my box was there because I spent a week calling their number, only to be sent to voicemail every SINGLE TIME. I also paid an additional 60 dollars to have them be delivered to my new house and no one was getting on that. I called the offices for three days, until I gave up and drive 40 minutes to get them myself. Most Greyhound employees are negligent, rude, irresponsible, not at all sympathetic, and just all around awful. Also, the last box that I had received came to me in literal pieces. Yu could literally reach into the box from the edges and grab whatever it is your heart desired. Surprised nothing was stolen or broken. Never dealt with a worse company in my entire life. read more

I took a one-way from Santa Anna CA to Salt Lake City UT almost 6 months ago.... We arrived in Las Vegas to late to get our transfer had to stay there about 7 hours, They gave everyone a MC Donald's vulture that was ONLY good at ONE location and for that night ONLY!!! The bus we where loaded on to from there smelled like POOP AND PEE every time we hit a bump we could not breath!! They let us have enough breaks, but I almost could not stand the idea of having to get back on that stinking bus! I know they way over booked the bus or maybe it was because we were so late we had to wait till morning to leave Vegas Because they had to put us in two groups and on two buses! I WILL NEVER EVER TAKE ANOTHER GRAY HOUND TRIP!! I had taken a trip on gray hound in August the year before but it was a short trip and they got me an hour from my destination and wanted me to stay all night in the station ( needless to say I got a ride the other hour instead of waiting the night out on a floor) Needless to say they need to get in with a hotel OR buy one so that when they have to make people wait for 6 to 8 hours they don't have people laying all over the floor!!! THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEM SELF!!!! I CAN SEE WHY MORE PEOPLE FLY MORE THAN THEY TAKE GREY HOUND BUSES!!!! My girlfriend and I have tried booking a trip with greyhound, have wasted over 3 hours and have been unable to do so. First we went to website, tried to book and received the same message with 3 forms of payment "your address doesn't match with your credit card address". This occurred with my debit card, my girlfriend's debit card, and her credit card. Finally, we gave in and called only to wait on hold for well over an hour when the voice recording told us it would be 10 minutes, then we called a local branch only to get a busy signal, then we called a new branch only for the lady to say we needed to come in, then we came in and the other lady told us "we can't offer the online price". Needless to say, we have had a terrible experience and will not use or recommend greyhound in the future. Overall, VERY dissatisfied! read more
