Ahh, greyhound. I'd estimate maybe 1/3 trips has something odd, unexpected, or just plain ridiculous happen (the bus gets lost! the headlights don't work and you are stuck in some podunk town waiting for a replacement!) I spent many a weekend going back and forth to visit friends and family on these buses. One winter break there was a volunteer group giving away snacks to all travelers. Once I also met a group of prisoners on their way home to Philly. The odds of something ridiculous happening are proportional to how much time you spend. A two hour trip between here and Harrisburg generally is OK, will be filled with other students (not the usual crazies that tend to ride Greyhound) and will generally be on time. Occasionally they oversell tickets so you will be forced to stand in the aisle the whole time or just have to go the next day (so if you are going home for the weekend, you are effectively screwed). Greyhound Bus Lines provided terrible service through the State College bus terminal. We were supposed to depart at 11 am and we did not end up leaving until 12:15 pm. We were not communicated with about why we were delayed. When the bus driver arrived he was extremely rude to all the passengers. We did not end up arriving at our destination until an hour and a half past the expected time. We never received an apology or an explanation for anything. Very disappointed. NEVER take this bus line. My friends and I took this to come from State College to King of Prussia and not only did they not tell us that you can not print the ticket double sided, but we did not depart until 30 minutes after the promised time. On top of that, we were scheduled to make only one stop in Harrisburg, but instead, the company and bus driver decide to take it upon themselves to stop in a random town and pick up a whole 15 more people with not the cleanliness of smells who have been shoved in the isles including a newborn child who is currently being held by a woman sitting on a suitcase. Greyhound has to be the worst bus company ever. They constantly overbook their buses and are extremely rude and nonchalant, expect for one very nice lady who gave me pizza. Here's my horror story: Going from State College to Philadelphia with a stop to Harrisburg in between. Simple enough. I get to Harrisburg and they overbook my bus after having a 3 HOUR DELAY. Then they say it will be 45 minutes. That goes by, next thing you know it's 3 hours. Then they change the story and say the time is known. Guess what happened? Me and other students had to either catch an Uber because some needed a flight or stay. I got to Harrisburg at 8pm ( because of course there was a delay at State College) and didn't get to Philadelphia until 10am next morning. Had to get an entire refund for how terrible that was. I helped my 72 year old mother buy two tickets for her brother and his wife to travel across country who are also seniors, then comedy ensued. Tickets were fully paid for they drove 20 minutes to pick them up from the local station. The people at the station gave her a hard time. She knew the secret password and had ID but was unable to produce a copy of the email that was sent to her. So they wouldn't give her the ticket. All I can say is LAME. They returned home frustrated and called my mom. My mom doesn't know how to forward an email so I had to log into her email account and forward a copy to her brother. Another trip to the local station 20 minutes away and they tell them that they are going to cancel the ticket because they don't have a pickup that day. So instead of helping them get new tickets they tell them that my mom needs to book a whole new trip on a different day. They said because the tickets were not purchased by them they couldn't make any changes. So they drive home again very frustrated and call my mom who calls me to complain. Lets keep in mind that all of these people are over 65 and the tickets have their names on them. Lets also keep in mind that Greyhound charges and extra $18 for a gift ticket fee if you are buying tickets for others. They have gotten paid and gotten paid extra to help these people and they are no help at all. All I can say is stay away from these fools. You can get a plane ticket for just a little more and be much more happy with crappy airline service. At least it won't take you 3 days to go across country. read more

Today I arrived at my bus station with the ticket I bought over a month ago, only to be told that this bus route was discontinued four weeks ago. Greyhound neglected to call or email me about this. There is no alternative bus route or way for me to get home today. Fuck this awful company that continually lets its customers down. I am so disappointed with my experience and how incredibly unhelpful customer service is. Your one job is to get people from point A to point B, and you can't even do that. Greyhound is literally the worst. I purchased a ticket for the right day (but for the wrong time) and realized it immediately after. Their refund/exchange policy is that you have to pay $20 to change the day or time of your ticket in any way, no matter how far off your trip is (which is unreasonable in the first place), but I decided to call and ask real quick just in case they would make an exception since it had been an innocent mistake. The customer service line made me listen to a prerecorded speech about how great their new website is for about 3 minutes, and then I finally got to talk to someone. I told him my situation, and he made me provide my confirmation number and prove who I was, before telling me that their refund policy stands and I would have to pay $20 to change it. Why would they need all my information if they weren't going to help me? I wonder. It's fine if that's their policy but they could have told me that before they wasted 15 minutes of my time. I wish I would have looked at other reviews online before giving them any of my money because literally every single review is bad. They're the cheapest because they're the worst. read more

The service exhibited by the pathetic excuse of the greyhound "customer disservice" department is absolutely ridiculous. First and foremost, they have absurd policies which making purchasing a ticket more complicated than buying a handgun in todays society. When you call do not expect to speak to anyone who you can understand of the 4 or 5 different employees I spoke to none of them spoke any dialect of english that was understandable. further more they misinformed me about things I was and wasn't able to do which resulted in my initial 65 dollar ticket cost over 120 plus an overnight shipping charge for 65 dollars because of there absolute incompetence. In addition they were extremely rude. I asked to speak to a manager and was hung up on multiple times in addition to being questioned "why I wanted to speak to a manager who would only tell me what they just did" in nasty harsh tones. When you speak to corporate you might get someone who speaks english if your lucky however none of them are there to help you they are only there to make the corporate machine more money. If you have any other option of transportation and I mean any take it. I have used mega bus, amtrak, bolt bus, fullerton, peterpan and have dealt with customer service in most of them. I have never felt more belittled or offended than when dealing with greyhound. they are a joke and should be taken as such. Oh and if you are dissatisfied with there service and want your money back then you can expect to be told no and that you now have to rebook another ticket and wait 6 to 8 weeks minimum for them to review your case and probably not give you back your money anyway because everything that was done you did even though it was at their obscene direction. read more
