A bus driver deliberately waited an unscheduled 2 hours because she did not feel like driving the bus. This caused me to miss my connecting bus. The next bus did not leave until 14 hours later the next day. I asked for a hotel and food voucher for the inconvenience and was denied. I asked for a refund or credit and was also denied. I had to stay 14 hours in an unsafe station. There was no apology issued. I called customer service multiple times and spoke to multiple people who were rude and unsympathetic and said my issue was not their problem. In addition, there was no wifi onboard and the seat outlets did not work. This was the absolute worst travel experience in my life. Please, if you are considering traveling with Greyhound bus lines, do not. It is better to just pay extra to fly or find a better bus line. read more

I was recently on a trip from Daytona Beach, FL to Sarasota, FL. I got off at the quick stop in Lakeland and the bus left me there (which was completely my fault). However, all my luggage was still on board as well as my purse, which had my phone, money, debit cards, and most importantly all of my prescription medications. I submitted tickets to the lost items department but haven't heard back and the only people I can ever get in touch with are in the booking department. Bus station: While this location has more trip options available than other nearby cities the drawback is that the building is dirty and staff are rude. Staff were yelling at clients to wear masks while not wearing masks themselves! No toilet paper in the bathroom and there was visible filth making me wonder when the building and bathroom were last cleaned. Bus: All was well and seemed appropriately clean. More like half a star! Let's start with bus station. It's so dirty, and out-dated, not to mention stinky, wish they would clean up that place. It isn't just the Tampa station, Tallahassee feels the same. The buses aren't any better. On their website, they pride themselves on their comfortable seats, complimentary wifi and outlets but it was more like 4.5 hrs from hell. Most of outlets didn't work, very annoying. I had to skip from one seat to another so I can find a working outlet for my laptop. Their complimentary wifi sucked, I chose the bus route so I could do work guess the universe had another plan. The pages were loading so slow, ate my battery before I could start anything. There's nothing comfortable about those seats, very hard and almost no cushion. Faux leather of some seats were coming off. Very unattractive. Did I mention amazing sounds the bus was making throughout the trip? One of the metal beams on the side of the bus was loose and it made a banging sound. I am not looking forward to my trip back home. WARNING: BUS DESTINATIONS ARE TOP SECRET!!! Worst bus stop service ever at the Marion location! No signs or correct destinations marked for the buses anywhere. Driver of 7:20 am bus to Tallahassee today refused to tell customers where the bus was going. She refused to scan tickets and singled out people she didn't want to scan. She kept screaming "who has a ticket for me to scan" while ignoring and looking past us. My mom was just asking for the bus destination and the bus driver got super irate and started accusing her of drinking. Bus driver continuously talking over her not even taking a breath, and at one point I even heard the bus driver tell mom she looked nice today to keep from having to answer the question, "where is this bus going?". I didn't know the bus destinations were top secret. She still never told us where the bus was going, so we hope mom got on the right bus. The bus station checkin station has been moved to a random cafe about 3 blocks away and the only way we knew that is because they put a sign on the door. My point is the communication with customers is poor and the choice of office is confusing because it has no signage. Also, the bus is filthy! Greyhound has a stigma of being unprofessional. Doesn't mean that they have to live up to it. Today, they did just that. I booked a trip instead of driving so that I could study on the way to my destination. I arrived to the bus station and proceeded to the front desk. Stood there for 10 minutes (being generous) and when an attendant finally came to check me in, a bus driver not only interrupted me, he pulled the attendant away, and left me at the front seat for another 10 minutes. At this point I decided to not check my bag but take it on the bus with me. 5 minutes after my scheduled departure, I heard no announcements so I went back up to the front desk. After waiting another 10 minutes, I'm not kidding, the attendant came and told me that my bus was delayed for an hour, could be more, could be less. I asked why no one was notified and he said "I just notified you". I was taken aback a little. I asked "what abt everyone else. He replied "I will tell them when they come up to the desk". Another attendant heard the rudeness and interjected very politely and explained to me the entire ordeal. She even asked the first attendant what was wrong with him. read more

Today I went to help a cousin that was traveling though town so I went down to Polk Street to meet him. This bus station is as simple as it gets. There is seating, restrooms a vending machine or two and a TV. Tampa is considered a metropolitan area so I admit I was expecting a little more. I waited by the information booth till someone came to the front. A gentleman carrying garbage told me to wait behind the black rope and that someone would be with me shortly before entering a door. Three minute later her appeared behind the counter and asked if I needed assistance. I am guess this dude is the clerk and janitor. LOL!!! What kind small town crap was this? All I could do was laugh! I then asked where the schedule was for the buses, he responded on the wall. I asked was it on the screen and he advised it was on the paper. Keeping it real old school here!!! I am however mad he looked at me like I was slow! I will say that the building was clean but there were a lot of riffraff and homeless poeple hanging aroung. Don't EVER take a Greyhound Bus. Just trust me. I waited in line for an hour past the departure time. I booked a priority ticket online which cost extra and it states you're allowed one bag and to make sure you print your ticket, which I did. As I'm boarding the bus I was told I had to go back inside and get a tag for my bag. No where does it say this when you purchase the ticket or on the ticket I printed. I waited so long because I was one of the first people in line to board. As a result I had to go back inside, waits in line to get a bag tag and was the last person on the bus and had to sit in the far back in a little seat. It reeked of urine on the bus. This was the first time I've ever taken a greyhound bus. Never, ever again. Another American company that's a shame and has no understanding of the impact of service. Also, this is my first ever review. I'm frequent traveler (by pane) and I'm very patient, if that gives you an idea of how poor this experience was. read more

Just because I put the wrong name for the passenger they would not allow me to change the name and told me that I would have to buy a new ticket. That's ridiculous this was a simple error on my part. I was NEVER and will NEVER be a customer. Greyhound customer services and every representative I spoke to on the phone were NOT helpful, so don't bother. I purchased my ticket at 4:45 PM and wanted to make a change at 8:35 PM, THE SAME DAY, after realizing it was going to be a 10 hour trip from Tampa to Miami... pretty ridiculous. I understand there's a fine print and you can't dispute that BUT Greyhound doesn't care for their patrons and only gives the option of either paying an extra $20 to make changes to the trip OR cancel the trip and get nothing in return. To top it off, Greyhound has a very unhappy staff. It is evident because both the customer service agent and the supervisor had an attitude. This entire experience is just as piss poor as it comes. It's not just this location. It's the entire process. You BARELY get what you pay for. Allegiant airlines fare is just as good or better (for now at least). But if you have family members that won't fly (let's face our fears people) I guess you will have to deal with this substandard service. My three problems 1. I needed to Change travel dates so I called and customer service is only available starting at 5am on weekdays. Hmmm 2. I felt uneasy and the next day I found A number and found a way to talk to a person. The person tells me I have to pay $20 to change ticket -"YES!!"-but "You have to do it AT the station (I live 45 minutes away) or you forfeit your ticket.---AND you have to do it by midnight before your day of travel."So it's 9:00 pm and I hop in the car and go. 3. I get there at 9:45-9:50 and wait for the attendant. Attendant shows up and says- I'm sorry we're closed-and I explain what I was told---"she should have told you this station closes at 10:00pm. You have to come in the morning. It's a waste of time to expect anything from something like this-if I didn't have to respect my much elder relative-I would have just thrown up my hands and said I'm done! Greyhound customer servicenis horrible!! Booked 2 tickets to go to a funeral and due to a horrible bus driver and bad weather they were not able to get me to the funeral on time! Had to call another person have them take time off work and drive me the remainder of the way to get to my Brother's funeral on time! Well i called and initially was impressed - got both tickets refunded - but then the BS started! I was told that it would take 7-10 business days to receive the refund, called at 10 days, said no 7-10 business days - called on 10th business day was told no 7-14 business days. Called 2 hours before end of 14th business day and still wasnt processed. Took speaking to a hire up and finally received 2 days later. But during this hole time they never told me the 2nd ticket refund had been reversed/denied. I was told 5 business days ago that it would be escalated and call back. I called back now and was told it was still denied because it was used partially used! I explained there was no way - i was driven up and drove back - they didnt care. I am so upset - we had issues the last time we used them and really didnt want to do this but had no choice and still ended up screwed! Dont ride Greyhound if at all possible because if you ever have an issue you are screwed and expect to pay more to fix it!! read more

The absolute pits. I expected no frills but thought a round trip on the bus would be cheaper than a round trip flight to Atlanta. But you get what you pay for. Immediately after pulling onto the interstate the bus driver yelled out "SHUT UP, this is a quiet ride. If you don't like it I can put you out RIGHT HERE!" We all looked around stunned, where in the world do you shout at and threaten passengers like that? The bus had been quiet, with nothing but light chatter, there was no need for his outburst. He pulled into the greasiest fish joint for a break and warned he'd leave anyone not back in the bus in 10 minutes. Which was hard because no one wanted to use the filthy on board bathroom. the ride was so miserable, I rented a car for my return trip. I don't usually take the bus, but on my visit home for Thanksgiving this year I decided to ditch my car and take the bus, taking Greyhound instead. I had low expectations going in but I was pleasantly surprised. The Tampa terminal and every stop along the way to Fort Myers were clean and nice. We left a bit late, but actually ended up arriving early at my destination. The only reason I didn't give it more stars was the state of the bus bathroom (it didn't originate in Tampa), but I still plan to take the bus again! read more

Another transportation company declining, just like the airlines. I had to get two tickets here to Atlanta. The woman at the counter was nasty. She asked for my credit card and upon telling her I already paid, she said "I still needs your card, I ain't got nothin' but time." Absolutely nasty, unprofessional. I have a disability which requires me to have a service dog. The bus driver said that if I don't watch the dog he would call the state police on me. I asked if he would like the paperwork again and he ignored me. Mind you this dog is A TRAINED service animal with a vest. He made no problem. He told me then to get back on the bus and then had me move my seat to the back of the bus. I simply handed him the ADA card I carry around for people like him that are uneducated on the rights of service animals and politely asked for his name. He refused to give it to me and walked away from me. This is discriminatory towards people with disabilities who are supposed to sit at the FRONT of the bus, or so they advertise. Also there's a dog on this bus that is not even a service animal and she is not getting a a hard time at all. This is disgusting behavior and is no way professional. He broke the law and I promise you this will not be forgotten. read more

If your smart find some other way to travel. The buses are old. The bathrooms are filthy. Connections are made in the middle of the night to ensure sleeplessness.
