I normally take MegaBus when I travel by bus. This weekend I had to travel to London Ontario and it is not serviced by MegaBus so I took greyhound. The first major difference that I noticed was how much more leg room I had. I am 6'5" and I didn't need to sit completely straight up because I had plenty of room to slouch down. Much more comfortable. The driver came on the intercom at the beginning of the trip and gave us the "scheduled" arrival time and the "realistic" arrival time since we left during Toronto rush hour. We arrived almost exactly at the realistic time that he gave us. I thought that was a courteous gesture and allowed everyone to make contact with anyone meeting us at the station in London. For the record... We arrived about 45 min late. The wifi was fairly reliable but kinda slow. Also there weren't any isle lights (it was very dark) and made it difficult to find your way to the washroom. Bus was very clean and the driver was very friendly. read more

Greyhound Canada basically cancelled our trip two days before Christmas (though we'd reserved and paid for our trip a month before), misinformed us and then basically left us stranded. We'd booked a trip from Kitchener to Toronto. The day before, someone from Greyhound phoned us and said to call back. When we returned the call, the guy online said nothing was out of the ordinary (i.e. our bus was to leave on December 27 at 10:30). However when we arrived at the station, the Greyhound employee said they bus had been cancelled weeks earlier. We'd have to wait 8 hours for the next one. We had an expensive train ticket booked from Toronto to Montreal that afternoon, so had to beg our friends in Kitchener to drive us to Toronto. I don't know what was the worst: (a) Greyhound cancelled our Christmas time trip at the last minute. (b) The guy at the Greyhound switchboard told us everything was running normally when the trip had been cancelled (c) The guy at the Greyhound station was completely unhelpful. We learned later that there are other ways to get to Toronto (GO buses, an airport shuttle) but he wanted us to miss our train and get to Toronto on the crappy unreliable Greyhound service. Here's what a modern intercity transport service should do: - Make it so that travellers can find routes, and pay for them reliably, in a user-friendly manner, with no cryptic messages - Try to be on time - Don't oversell your tickets (not too much anyways) - If you happen to have oversold, compensate customers for the hassle. Greyhound will do NONE of that. They're so antiquated that if you chose a stop that there are no routes in the specified time, it would throw a cryptic error. You can't purchase a ticket through their site, using a Canadian Visa card. Their drivers have to meet up in the middle, and one of them is late, but the layover stop would have no information as to where the bus is, or why it's late, or an approximate time that it could be back. They oversold. Try the Thanksgiving Monday 2009 at Toronto. The line was 400m long, encircling the block from Bay and Dundas, and Edwards and Elizabeth. No one came out to tell us what happened. Hundreds of people were trying to get on the Ottawa Express since 4, and I waited on there for at least 2 hours. Every time the line moved, there's some new traveller coming in to take our place. Even as the lines wrapped around the block and start showing up at their front door, they still sold tickets for same-day departure to Ottawa. I was in the tail end of the line for 4pm, and the girl bought her ticket and showed up to the line at 4:10pm, holding a ticket that was suppose to leave at 4:30 (and hell would freeze over if any one of us could get on a bus by 7pm). I was lucky that I found my friend to get a pick up, so that I could be dropped off in Ottawa, not having to wait in that cold, nor to worry about a taxi ride back home because the bus would arrive after the local transit has stopped running. If you're considering Greyhound because it's cheap, don't. Try Via if you can, at least they gives you a coupon for being late. These guys wants to skim 20% off my ticket for services poorly rendered / not rendered. Pay for the plane ticket if you can. Rent a car, drive. The hassle is not worth it. Greyhound is having financial trouble and cutting back on service? I say let it die. If there's a company not worth a bailout, Greyhound is one of them. read more

My issue is with Greyhound, the company, not the Bay bus station. In NYC, they leave it to homeless people trying to make a dollar to guide you around, rather than have any actual customer service representatives there. When I finally found a person and asked her where the 7pm bus to Buffalo was, she walked me to the 7p.m. bus to Boston, which forced me to reroute my trip to Montreal--Ottawa and finally Toronto, 12 hours later than my original arrival time. When I called the customer service line, I was told that I had to call another number, as the general inquiries line could not help me. When I called the number given, I was told that at 2p.m. on a Tues the system was down for maintenance and they could not lodge any complaints. I asked to be put on the Superior Call Back list, and I still have heard nothing back yet. The level of service is absolutely appalling. I only got a reply back after I went to the Facebook page and posted about the horrible service. Save your self the aggravation and rent a car, or fly, or even hitchhike, since any of these options will be better. read more

My review is going to be about the Toronto coach/ greyhound station itself. They've added new seats for express lounge! While the express lines are good and efficient , I take issue with the whole old system and the manner that they treat passengers. The bus platforms are not accurately reflected in the two small screens placed up and far from eye sight. You most likely will need a magnifier. It's ridiculous considering the prices they charge and the service being public. The washrooms are downstairs and in the two times I've used this method of transport , I found the escalator shut down I felt for the elderly , disabled , mothers with children and baggage who had to wait for the small elevator or carry everything down and up the stairs. The women's washrooms reeked every time and there were only 5 stalls one of which was closed for maintenance. Crappy for Toronto! If this was a less developed city in a less developed country I'd say okay they probably have a small budget. The drivers are nice and the lines that I took were fast one took 2:20 from Toronto to London , the other time it took 2:50 for the same direct route but perhaps they account for traffic and such. Where do I even begin.. I arrived at Pearson airport at 530 am for my greyhound bus arriving at 605 am . Problem number one there was no live agent at the desk to help me. So I called the customer service and the agent on the phone told me my bus was delayed and wasnt arriving till 8:21 am . So it being a little chilly out I waited a little longer just in case. I went back inside at 6:40 am since it wasnt coming till 8:21. An agent arrives at 8 am finally I ask her how much longer is my delay just to double check. She tells me ma'am your bus is already downtown . FYI I had a connection between Pearson to downtown toronto to wait an 1hr and 45 mins to continue to my destination. So I say what do u mean she said basically the bus was already here or it didn't show up. I said so what your telling me the bus driver who wants to show up on his own time didnt have the decency to come inside and double check for passengers when HE or SHE was late . Ok problem number two . Problem 3 now I had already paid extra money to change my ticket from 12:40 pm to 6 am and the only solution I was given was get the same ticket re -issued . On top of them not wanting to give me back a refund. So basically. One of your agent gives me wrong information and your bus driver doesn't have the decency to do his job properly and I cant get my money back what I can get it the same ticket I originally purchased??!??!! . Why can I not give zero stars? I would if I could. Bus from Toronto to NY was having issues and greyhound made our driver keep driving even tho we were only able to go 35mph on the highway in the middle of the night, which is dangerous. Only after two hours of a rest stop in which he tried to fix the problem did they agree to send a replacement, which took two and a half hours to arrive (we were told it would take an hour and a half). Meanwhile another bus took ten of our passengers on to New York, but also broke down just after leaving the rest of us stranded. Then OUR replacement bus ALSO broke down. AGAIN. Waiting for bus in Guelph, ON in the cold tonight to go to Toronto on the 2145 bus. Driver showed up 10 minutes late, parked the bus around the corner for 5 minutes within eye sight of the 50 people waiting in line. Made those of us who wanted to pay cash (because the temporary bus terminal was closed and the hours were not posted online), wait in a separate line until everyone else boarded. Driver would not give student rates to those of us with student cards and would not tell us how many seats were left on the bus. Driver berated us, saying "the tickets are good for a year, you should have bought them in advance". Totally deplorable customer service and an absolute disgusting man to be driving a bus. Bus arrived late but there was no notification and there was no one at enquiry counter. Because of delay crowd kept on increasing. The driver's behaviour was inappropriate and impolite. Driver forgot to stop at a scheduled stop in order to make up for the delay so people had to get off at next stop and get a Taxi back to intended stop. So much for saving few dollars and eventually paying even more with added Taxi fare. Moreover I wouldn't want to allow any misbehaving driver spoil my holiday mood. read more

Greyhound charged me for an incomplete transaction twice when I was attempting to buy these tickets on the website. My credit card has been charged for two tickets, when all I was attempting to do is purchase one ticket, and I have not been issued any tickets at all. I have been trying to get someone on the phone to speak with, only to be placed on hold for over an hour and transferring me from department to department or getting hung up on. I'm tired of this. Just refund me the charges so that I can buy another ticket and get on with my life. read more

I once took the bus from Hinton AB to Kinuso AB which is about a 7 hour drive through Edmonton. Got on about 7:30 AM, arrived in Edmonton around 2:30 just as the Bus I was supposed to transfer to was pulling away from the depot. Had to wait another 6 hours. Arrived in Slave Lake around12:30 PM and thats as far as this bus was going. Thanks alot greyhound for not mentioning this. Had to hitch hike the remaining 30 miles in pitch blackness, arriving in Kinuso at 3:00AM. Will never take the bus again. read more

Definitely zero star. Here is what I encountered yesterday with Greyhound, the worst experience I ever had in Canada. This is what happened: I went to Abbotsford yesterday (May 7, 2017) and took Greyhound Bus, the returning schedule was 8:38 pm. In the evening, I arrived at the bus terminal before 8:30 after I took some food in the Tim Hortoms nearby. When waiting, I saw the bus came, but the driver didn't allow me to go on board, he said his bus was for 8:50 pm and the 8:38 pm bus had not arrived yet. I asked the 8:50 pm bus driver if I could get on his bus if the 8:38 pm bus was late. The driver answered if there was room for me, then I could get on. Then I waited, time passed, it was almost 8:50 pm, and the 8:38 pm bus was obviously late (the one I should took). At that time, there were 5 people left waiting for 8:38 pm bus, two couples and me (I was the third one to arrive in all three, there were a couple in front of me and the other behind me). There seemed to be some seats left on the bus, the driver let 4 other people get on board but left me outside. I asked him if I could get on the bus, he refused. I told the bus driver I was only one person, and I didn't know when the 8:38 pm bus would come. He refused me again and said there was no room left for me, the 8:38 pm bus would come any time. I was upset but had no other method except waiting, at first, I thought it was normal because I was told Greyhound Bus is always late (It's the first time I took Greyhound Bus in Canada). Then I waited and waited, time passed 9:00 pm and the bus which should come half an hour earlier still didn't show up, it became darker and colder, I felt things not right, also my phone was short of battery. I began to feel frightened as I didn't know any person there at Abbotsford and I didn't even know if the bus would show up or not, there was only me, nobody else waiting at the Greyhound Bus Terminal. I began to call Greyhound customer service, trying to figure out what's going on and if the 8:38 pm bus was still coming, but no matter how many times I called, there was only machinery answer, my patience finally was depleted, I was super furious and frightened, almost crying, as it was almost totally dark and I still didn't even know what's wrong with 8:38 pm bus, it was late or it was cancelled. I didn't know what I could do or where I could go, it was too dangerous and cold for one person staying outside alone at such a strange place. There was no bus coming, I was left alone in the Greyhound Bus terminal for no reason, a place I didn't know any person, no people around, and the last bus (8:50pm) driver refused to take me back to Vancouver on his bus, There were cabs parking along the road, my phone was almost dead and I went to a cab driver for help. It was over 9:20 pm, he helped me check the Greyhound Bus schedule and we were both sure 8:50 pm was the last bus and were almost certain there would be no bus towards Vancouver coming. It was past 9:25, if the 8:38 pm bus was still on the schedule, it should not be that late. Finally, the cab driver took me to Surrey skytrain station to help me come back home. In that way, I bought Greyhound Bus ticket, I arrived early, and I was refused to get on the bus coming back to Vancouver. I was left in Abbotsford Greyhound Bus terminal alone, no bus coming, not any respond from Greyhound Bus, no explanation why the 8:38 pm bus never showed up. I almost couldn't get back to Vancouver because of Greyhound Bus's mistake. Finally I got back home with the help of a cab driver, at around $100 price, in the midnight. I am extremely angry and upset. Greyhound Bus is definitely the worst company I have ever experienced and this was the worst experience I ever had in Canada. I don't understand why a bus company can treat a client like this, leaving a female client who buys a bus ticket and arrives at the bus terminal on time, who is waiting for bus at the terminal station at night, in a cold and helpless positon, and the bus didn't even show up, without any notification or explanation. And when another bus showed up, the client is refused to get on the bus. This is extremely irresponsible and unacceptable! Today, I called Greyhound Bus costumer service to complain, and it seems that this company doesn't even want to take any responsibility, not even an apology. My phone call was transferred from one department to another. Finally, I was told I should call Greyhound Abbotsford station. When I called the office, the staff said I should call their manager, and the manager would not be in the office after 4:00 pm. I left my phone number and asked them to call me back. There are two bus stations in my city: the main one and a small one outside town. We purchased a ticket online, and the website said that we could catch the bus at either of the two stations. We even called dispatch the day of and they confirmed that the bus would stop to pick us up at the smaller station. Naturally the bus did no such thing; it bypassed the smaller station completely. When we called to request a refund they told us that it was our fault and refused to refund the ticket, and would only change the date for an additional fee. read more

Make sure to try the power outlet before deciding on a seat - mine did not work. WIFI was barely ok for low-quality audio streaming. I took my chances on the Greyhound to Detroit from Toronto after three consecutive flight cancellations. Took the Airport Express from Toronto Pearson airport to the Toronto Coach Station (appr. $30). Be sure to allow at least an hour for that, or take a limo (appr. $60) which could take just as long depending on traffic. Online reservation for the Greyhound was $37, at the station $58, but when I got to the station with 15 mins to spare, it took 10 minutes longer for them to print the "will-call" ticket than for another person who bought his there, so I could have missed the bus if it had been any tighter. read more

They have the most ridiculously terrible robotic phone system. They don't provide clear information online nor on the tickets themselves about changing time. It's literally impossible to change a ticket time unless you go all the way to the station in person. What a horrible experience. Red Arrow or other bus companies are the way to go. read more

It should be 0 stars. I called to book a ticket, the agent told me how much it will be, I agreed and gave the credit card number, all of sudden the agent told me she is having a problem with the system and it is giving her a much higher amount, I said never mind cancel it and I will buy my ticket at the station. Easy NO, she said she can not cancel the ticket it will be a refund wich will take 7 to 15 days. I called VISA right after and explained what happened, they told me to get a reference number from Greyhound, which I did. It has been over a month now, 4 calls to the worst customer service department ever with 4 different refund confirmation numbers and every agent saying that the previous agent did not do his job and process the refund, and no, still no refund for a transaction that was supposed to be canceled the same minute within the same phone call when I was trying to book my ticket. Last resort, today I called VISA requesting a refusal to pay that transaction, which they accepted because I informed them from the start and they were aware of the situation. We need a better bus option in Toronto. I can't really give a review of the ride because I didn't book with Greyhound, but my attempt at booking with them over their web, and their telephone customer service was horrible. I don't know how they can still be in business. People turn to bus travel not only for economical reasons, but also because air travel has become so inconvenient in these modern times. With a spike in demand for services, I feel Greyhound is falling behind. They offer advance purchase tickets that sell out three weeks prior to the date of departure. What is the point of calling it advance purchase tickets if three weeks from my trip, I still have to buy a regular ticket because advance is sold out? Either make deals time sensitive or just keep an honest price all the time. Neither the advance or the regular fare is refundable, so really what is the point? (Also, when advance tickets are sold out, they are still listed as available on the website. Confusing much?) I didn't really want to buy in advance if there is no incentive to as all the advance tickets were sold out, so I waited a week. Then my internet went down, and I wanted to purchase before my ride was sold out, so two weeks before my trip, I phoned Greyhound. They said they would give me the regular price if I went to buy at the terminal. So the next day I went to the terminal...and there was a huge line, about 45 mins to get to a rep. Then the rep tells me that at the terminal, prices are much higher. So I am kind of mad at this point. The company reps, phone agents and web info are all telling me different, wrong things and wasting my time. Like any business, Greyhound needs to be called out on this, by seeing their ridership drop. So after getting in line at the terminal for no reason, I was still trying to get an affordable ticket online. Since my internet was still down, I called greyhound to see if I could wait til a week before the trip to book, as I wanted to get the web fare. The agent reassured me that there were plenty of tickets left. The only thing I had to worry about were their fluctuating fares(another annoying thing). I was so frustrated at Greyhound at this point that I was looking into other bus carriers like Megabus and Trailways. To my surprise Megabus was more expensive than Greyhound now (used to be the other way around), and Trailways is only valid with departure from the States. So to keep it simple, I thought I would just wait til my internet was up and book with greyhound. However, on that day, when I tried to book, I was having trouble booking. After calling back Greyhound, being put on long hold, talking to rude reps that didn't know anything, I found out that the departure date that I had chosen had long been sold out and that they do not even update their webstore! How can anybody use Greyhound? The phone rep suggested I change the dates of my travel so that I can buy a bloody ticket from them. At this point, I was tired of jumping through Greyhound's hoops, and just researched Megabus. Going to New York city with them was a bit more expensive, but booking with them was such a breeze! And then for my way back, I saw that Trailways going back to Toronto was more economical so I booked with them for my return trip. Both bus carriers were a breeze with book through, and my problem was solved in twenty minutes. All I had to do was book with someone other than Greyhound. I urge people not to put up with crappy service, and misinformation about prices, tickets availability and bad service with Greyhound. If they mess up this much before the actual trip, how can anyone really trust them to get them to the proper destination safely? I know people still use greyhound because they are dirt cheap travel, but I still prefer to pay a little more and get some functional reliable service, than be thrown onto a bus, and arrive at a destination feeling relieved that I actually made it despite of their service. In the end, Greyhound is a business. People should not be working hard to ride with them. They should be working hard to get our patronage. Everybody should avoid Greyhound at all costs, and we should have other options in Toronto... read more

Greyhound fixed the issue I was having with booking my tickets online and now ordering my tickets online are fast and easy to do.

I just used Greyhound today from Toronto to Montreal airport, I was a bit afraid since I've read a lot of complaints about the company and it was the first time I booked with Greyhound. However, I'm satisfied. The coach was on time, the seats are comfortable and quite spacious if you compare it to Megabus, for instance. There was the WiFi on board, not a good reception all the time but still. The only disagreement if I can say so, is the employees who were efficient but really not smiley or friendly. Maybe I had chance but from my experience, I recommend their service. read more

I had an absolutely terrible experience with Greyhound. I had tickets for a bus from Kitchener to Toronto that was supposed to leave at 9:15- after waiting for an hour in the small dingy bus terminal, a bus finally arrived. However, the bus was not going to Toronto and the driver seemed surprised that the 9:15 bus never came. He CLAIMED he had seen the bus at the stop before and blamed us for missing it, which is impossible since myself and six other people were watching from 9-10:15. After a lengthy phone call during which he let us wait in the cold instead of inviting us onto the bus, he told us a bus would be along in a few minutes that would take us to Toronto. Another hour passed before this bus arrived, and contrary to what the first driver had told us, this driver knew nothing about us seven passengers waiting to be driven to Toronto. He then made a phone call and we waited for 15 minutes before receiving confirmation that he would be taking us. At 11:15, two hours late, we finally began our drive. I am absolutely appalled. The lack of organization and responsibility in this company is atrocious. The fact that a bus NEVER CAME and not only did they blame us for their mistake, but there was no organized action to right this, is horrible. The bus drivers have no idea what they're doing and their superiors are clearly unreachable, as both of them waited on hold to get clarification. I am very very disappointed. I needed reliable bus service as I had to be in Toronto for the next day, and I felt neglected and unimportant. One of the people waiting for the bus with me was a woman with a newborn child, and this did nothing to increase the urgency of the situation or speed up the process. Never using again. read more

Greyhound is terrible. If you have other transportation take it. I travel from Toronto to Kitchener quite often and am at my wits end. First off, they constantly over book and do not have another bus to take the remaining people where they need to go. If you ask customer service, they usually don't have a clue as to what is going on and can't give you answers. If they do, they tell you that next bus is the next scheduled one which is 2 hours later. I am sorry but if this happens in the winter, greyhound will have a ridiculous number of pissed off people because no one will want to lose their spot and wait in the cold. Also, return and ticket exchange policies are outrageous. Honestly, I hope Greyound smartens up. This is the worst service I have ever experienced and I wish I didn't have to use them. read more

terrible terrible TERRIBLE service. greyhound is ALWAYS late by at least 40 minutes. but today was by far the worst ever. they over sold their busses so there wasnt enough room for everyone, thus leaving about 30 of us stranded with no options other than two wait 2 hours for the next bus, which in itself ended up being almost an hour late. what supposed to be a 50 minute trip turned into a 4 hour trip. even the driver of the bus told us to never use greyhound again because they do this to people everyday and do not care at all. as long as they grab your money, thats all they care about. terrible, greedy, horrible company. they should be out of business. read more

There were two choices for departing times to visit a friend for a day: 5:30am and 8:00am. I chose 5:30am because I wanted to arrive at a reasonable time (12:50pm, instead of 5:05pm). I woke up at 4:15am only to catch a bus which was heavily delayed and caused me to catch up to a transfer from the 8:00am stop. To make things worse, the driver blamed us for causing delays. It seems like Greyhound assumes no liability for anything, so don't expect a refund back for anything, ever unless it's simply an unused ticket. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER. If I could give this no stars, I would. I left toronto heading east on a bus that looked nice and comfortable. It wasn't, the entire bus was cold and apparently it's impossible to turn the air conditioner off. Because of this unfortunate situation, I put my headphones in to listen to music and try to get some sleep. The driver asked me to turn down my music that was not even very loud. I paid 110$ for my ticket and I cannot be in a comfortable temperature or listen to music. Also, the bus continuously made unnecessary stops along the way for the driver to get out and smoke. I now understand why my coach, that was departing out of downtown toronto, only had 6 people on board. Stupid service, stupid price, stupid company. Never again. read more

I'm a senior hoping to travel to Toronto from Guelph, Ontario. I wanted to book Dec. 18th p.m. and return Dec. 22/14 p.m. Well.......first of all I was told not all days apply for senior's discount, I was out of luck for my choice - it was cheaper to book on-line even though I was standing there with no one else in sight and could very easily have been given a ticket right then and there! What if I was a senior computer-illiterate? My options of Go Bus were not attractive, too many stops between my departure and destination. Which ever option I explored I only discovered more obstacles and got the impression Greyhound is in the business of discouraging bus travel. The ticket agents are usually young (students?) and not very helpful or friendly. They just had you papers giving you information they could very well give orally. No one seems to know you to communicate anymore - fallout from our electronic obsession! I'm totally disgusting at the disintegration of service from the last time I took Greyhound bus from Sudbury to Toronto about 10 years ago! Shocking and disheartening! Very rude driver, the bus is late for like 10mins, it comes, and then announce, I admit that maybe I missed the announcement when I am giving advices to my uncle and aunt when they go there. But we went to see when the bus arrived , finding that driver was not around, so we are planning to just go to the door when the driver comes, it was freezing outside. we thought it might take time, anyway the door is quite close to us. Then bus driver comes, we immediately reach the door, then the bus driver saw us and shut the door... Then I knocked ask if it's the trip we are going, she was like: why u didn't come when I announce? (High volume)It was like the period for she came and until she shut the door is just in a few minutes, and we reach immediately after she comes. And then I told her my relative are not quite good at English, can she tell them when arrive, she's like: then what are they going to do there if they don't know English( in a very bad attitude) ok, can you not go to travel these countries if u don't know Indian, Chinese, Korean? Can you never ever travel any country who doesn't speak the language you know? It's so rude. You know I was so worry about my relative, much more when I saw that driver, I had a feeling she won't help them. And hilarious thing is, megabus doesn't need service fee, but greyhound bus charge service fee, but when we travel to Niagara Falls, the megabus introduce so detailed how we can go to the town, and where are the interests, and many detail information. read more

Do not EVER and I repeat EVER take a greyhound bus ride. They are nothing less short of the nastiest people I have ever had customer service with. I took a trip from Charleston SC to El Paso Texas. The ride started out fine until I got to Atlanta GA. At 11:30 We started boarding they were late and we were suppose to have left at 11:35. When I got on the bus with my carry on bag that I was told by the check in lady it was ok the bus driver told me to put it under the bus. I did not have Grey Hound insurance on that bag because it was never suppose to leave my hands. That bag has a $699 Camera in it. A $399 50mm Lens and a $160 70-200MM Sigma Lens in it. Then when I went to check the bag in and get back on the bus the bus driver shut the door on me and would not let me in and just stared at me for four minutes. Then when I proceed to sit down two seats behind him the backup driver who was sick at the time was spraying lysol on her seats and sprayed me in the mouth. After that she said sorry sarcastically. As the bus started moving in motion the bus driver started with the rules and stated that their will be no use of fowl language on the bus. The passenger next to me then stated"what would be the punishment for using fowl language" the bus driver then replied "You know what the punishment would be young man" in reference to me. As I stated to him that that was not me who said that and the lady next to me confirmed that it was her the bus driver then proceeded to say "well ma'am if you are using fowl language it must be because of the young man next to you and we would have to kick him off the bus ". After all that and finally arriving in Dallas a day later I watched them throw my bag on its side as they unloaded the carriage. They broke the focusing mechanisms on my 50mm, as well as broke my 70-200mm where now you can hear springs popping loose and its hard to zoom in without it sticking. My 60D also will not focus and its functions are not working proper either. Greyhound stated that they will not repay more then $250 on a bag that was not insured but as I stated that was supposed to be a carry on bag and because their bus driver had the right to put that bag under the bus the company can take responsibility for his decision because he is a representative of their company. As I stated above DO NOT EVER take greyhound unless you want to be treated as crap. I was traveling for military reasons and they treated me like trash. They are nasty people. read more

I purchased a round trip ticket from Montreal to New York and the driver of the return trip refused to take me onboard at the US/Canadian customs despite the fact that I had a valid ticket for the bus ride and that there were seats available. He was of Senegalese background and was a very disrespectful driver who called on the Canadian police officers to take me off the bus. He told them he refused to take me. The driver started an argument with me onboard when everyone was being seated and he told me to get off the bus and let the people who came in first to enter the bus. As per his request, I got off the bus but I told the driver that he was being disrespectful in the way he told me to get off the bus. And next thing you know he disappears for a few minutes as the remaining travelers including me enter the bus again. He comes back into the bus with two police officers that tell me to get off because the driver refuses to take me. I asked the police officers why. I had not been aggressive to the driver I didn't insult him or threaten him so why was I being refused on a bus that I had purchased my tickets for? They told me that they unfortunately don't have authority over a greyhound driver who refuses to take someone on board. The only time the police can take actions against a driver is if he would have done anything illegal that involves immigration or goods etc. But a problem between a passenger and a driver is not something that even police officers have authority to do something about. The greyhound policy basically allows the driver's to treat travelers with disrespect, leaving passenger stranded in the middle of nowhere (by the way there are many cases of greyhound drivers refusing to take in people and leaving them in the middle of nowhere just google it). The drivers are allowed to throw out a passenger from their bus even if the passenger isn't causing a threat to the safety of the driver and the passengers. This shows how little the policy makers of greyhound care about the people who are purchasing tickets from their company. Greyhound's motto is: rob people their money and treat them like unworthy slaves. They hire rude, uncivilized and barbaric drivers in many cases. The driver I had was most likely a sexist and a racist who wanted to show authority over me to the other passengers. I will file a complaint and see what greyhound will respond. So if you want to be treated the way I was treated then buy tickets to your next trip from Greyhound. It's always better to pay that little extra and get treated like a human instead of a slave. read more

I called greyhound's customer service line to get info on schedule and price Toronto to Ottawa rtn. I was quoted $123.17 incl. tax for 1 adult. The tel. person asked if I wanted to buy on the tel. I said I would buy in person at the bus station. The info tel. person neglected to tell me buying the ticket at the bus station is $36.85 more, a vital piece of info!! It was a rude shock to learn this at the bus station! The ticket seller at the station said he gets asked why it's more expensive every 2nd ticket he sells and that management doesn't listen or care about employee suggestions or customer complaints. Why don't the tel. info people tell customers it's cheaper to buy on the tel? Isn't this their job to give accurate prices & complete info? I run a business as well, so I know it's a standard business practice that once you've quoted you have to stand by your quote or you lose customers. Hopefully I won't ever have to travel greyhound again. read more

Early this year, we decided to take Amtrak to Las Vegas from Vancouver. As Amtrak does not go to Vegas, they booked us on a Greyhound bus from Los Angeles to Vegas. We couldn't believe the dilapidated condition of the bus, The seats were sunken from wear and had cracks in the upholstery and the arm rests were totally worn off. Our seats were about in the middle of the bus but the five or six-hour trip was made even more uncomfortable because the smell of the toilet permeated the whole bus. Due to the state of the toilet, we did not want to use it but had no choice because we weren't allowed to get off the bus until we were close to the California/Nevada border and even then we were told to return to the bus in 15 minutes. But it gets worse! On the return trip, we were booked on another Greyhound bus. As it was an early morning booking, we set our alarms to make sure we got to the bus depot in plenty of time. In the process we didn't have time to have breakfast. When we got to the station, we were told the bus had broken down and they were waiting for a substitute bus. Because we didn't know when the substitute bus would arrive, we could not leave the depot to grab a bite to eat and there was nothing at the bus depot except for chocolate bars and chips from a machine. Almost two hours later, the "substitute" bus arrived. About an hour out of Vegas, the bus started to have mechanical problems but it managed to crawl into a gas station off the freeway. Fortunately, we had the good sense to grab sandwiches and drinks there otherwise we would have been in dire straights! We waited for more than half an hour for a mechanic to arrive. The mechanic did some tests then said the bus was okay to go. WRONG! It was not okay to go. The driver managed to get the bus going for about 40 minutes before it broke down again. This time, we were right in the middle of the dessert. In the meantime, the door to the toilet broke down so people had to go outside in the middle of no where to do whatever! The bus driver radioed the Greyhound office and was told that there were no replacement buses available but that they'd try to send one when one became available in California! The driver did his best to start up the bus again only to have it break down 15 minutes later. This went on for about two hours. Finally, another bus came along with room to take a few people so those with transfers were allowed on....we were one of the lucky ones but I hate to think what happened to the other remaining passengers who had not had a bite to eat or drink since leaving Vegas. And by the way, when we finally got to Los Angeles, we were dropped off at the Greyhound bus station even though Amtrak had arranged for us to be dropped of at the Union Station where our hotel was so we were told by Greyhound to take a taxi for the remainder of our trip. This was when I blew my stack off. I truly can't believe the appalling service and how Greyhound has the audacity to operate in this way is beyond me but in future if I can help it, I will definitely not be using Greyhound! read more
