Blacked vegetables with dinner, despite explicitly telling the dining room I didn't want them.

This review is limited to the club's food service. The kitchen NEVER gets orders right! Most recently, my "medium rare" filet was bloody in the middle, and despite an employee confirming I wanted no charred broccolini (which is blackened but half raw), my order still came with a heap of the charred vegetables. And they forgot to include the side dish that the menu lists with my husband's order. Don't they understand when members specify they don't want menu items cooked in a way that adds carcinogenic compounds, they should listen to the patrons and get orders right!

I have some history at this club that has been called the Ernie Kovacs Club, Standard Club, Racquet Club, Beverly Hills Country Club (although it's not in Beverly Hills and it's not a country club), and now the Griffin Club. Smack in the heart of the Cheviot Hills in west LA, when I was little my parents were members and my mom who taught ballroom dancing would go for dinners and dancing. At the pool in the kiddie part, Lloyd Bridges of Sea Hunt fame showed me how to swim. I have been a guest playing tennis off and on and my doctor has been a member for all eternity. He invited me for dinner on the patio overlooking the tennis courts exclaiming how good the food was and the Covid protocols. Reluctantly I said yes (who is going to pass up an offer like that). Our temperature was taken and we went right out onto a huge patio with heat warmers spaced properly apart. The menu was on an app and I ordered the salmon. The view was great, table distancing was more than sufficient and the food was beautifully prepared. The salmon was delicious as was the veggies. Nice outdoor dining with a very attentive staff. P.S. I met Lloyd Bridges 40 years later at a charity event & reminded him that he taught me how to swim. With a twinkle in his eye he touched his nose, pointed to me and said "I remember you". It was a wonderful lie and moment.

Before we were kicked out, quietly enjoying time together.

Fantastic place! Beautiful grounds. Food isn't great, but it's not bad either, and the experience makes up for that. A nice place to meet.

What are the fees? Love the location and would think it is better to pay the club rather than my husband and I paying Equinox memberships. Thanks!

True, the construction is a bit of a drag as the gym, club house and bathrooms are temporarily housed in tents, but the club has done the most with what they have.

The valet took my car while tournament staff took my clubs and told me where to go to change shoes and have breakfast. From there, I was driven to my starting tee where my group was waiting. All the way out to my hole, the pro narrated details of the course. It really is a friendly walking course, maybe a little long over the bridge but the views make up for it. The views all over the course were spectacular and yet the course was quite playable. The greens were zipity fast, but the fairways rolled nicely. It was a beautiful course with Tom Doak's signature false front greens. If you want to stay on a green, know how far you need to land the ball, otherwise it will roll right back to you. If it does, you've been "Doaked." Lunch was fabulous--with a view --and my car was close by and ready with my clubs already inside when it was time to leave. The only thing they forgot was the helicopter ride back to Pasadena!

They knew we weren't members because we were there for a funeral reception for my nephew's grandpa, but they still treated us with the same respect. The staff are all friendly too. Inside is quite nice and the bar area looked like a cozy place to hang out. The reception was in a banquet room. The décor could use an upgrade but the view of the golf course is spectacular. My other nephew got lost on the way to the bathroom and ended up in the locker room. "You should see all the product they have in there!" He said when he came back. Made me wish I had found the women's locker room. Perhaps they had Chanel No 5. Food was served buffet style and it was plentiful! Several different salads, Caprese, wraps, grilled vegetables, Cedar Plank Salmon, Lemon Rosemary Chicken, Herb Crusted Beef Flank Steak, lots of desserts, & fresh fruit. (Unfortunately, no alcohol because after attending a funeral in the rain I needed a martini.) The staff were fantastic - clearing plates and refilling beverages. Hopefully, I'll have another opportunity to return and have a martini at the swanky bar. If you happen to be a member and you read this, message me. I'll meet you there! LOL!

Some months ago I was repeatedly lied to by Club management staff in response to my reporting outages of many of the jacuzzi's jets that rendered the facility essentially inoperative for all but a single user at a time. After being assured that the matter would be addressed, I was told that the wet area's maintenance manager had inspected the facility and found my complaint baseless. When I refused to accept this lie, the member of Club management I was dealing with assured me she would personally inspect the facility and get back to me. She did not. I then asked another member of the Club staff to accompany me to the facility (he did), verify the legitimacy of my complaint (he did), and inform the management staff member I'd been dealing with that he had done so. After this, however, I heard nothing more about the matter, from her or anyone else, for weeks. I had, finally, to take the matter to another member of the Club management staff. This person referred it to the Club's top manager, from whom I finally received an admission that my complaint was legitimate and an assurance that replacements for the dysfunctional parts were on order. So I was hardly surprised to learn, not long thereafter, that this same Club's management had been reported in the news media for lying about its day-care personnel having injured a child in its custody. It seems to be a business practice.
