Generally when I travel in Europe I avoid steakhouses, but this trip my partner in crime convinced me to make an exception to that rule, and I'm SOOO glad I did! Griffins Steakhouse gave us a completely exceptional dining experience! My friend went with a dry age ribeye, and I went with the petit filet. We asked for both medium-rare, and when they arrived they were nicely marbled, seasoned to perfection, and cooked exactly as requested. Both of us couldn't have been more satisifed with the food, and the service was every bit as good; attentive without being obtrusive. The ambiance was lovely, the Chianti our server recommended paired perfectly with our steaks, and the dessert he recommended was a delicious end to a perfect meal :-) Despite the fact that the prices here are more than a bit high, even for Stockholm, the quality of the food and the service were 2nd to none - highly recommended!! read more

Ambient and decoration is excellent, I really mean it 10/10. We order some flat iron cuts and it was ok, I asked to not add or use any sugar or sweetner on the steak but they use it anyways, so be aware that sometimes they don't follow customers specific instructions or preferences. Flew in on delayed BA flight, checked in at the Waterfront and they booked a table for the two of us here, on a recommendation from some friends So, nice atmosphere and a good table with very comfortable seats...tired so was a good idea, just round the corner...and it was -1c I chose the flanksteak with fries, didn't want the baked tomato or chimichurri sauce (waitress forgot, so got them anyway!) and my partner had the iberico. They gave us some homemade crisps while we waited - a mix of garlic, tarragon, mushroom etc...they were moreish My steak came as 4 slices in red wine sauce...3 of which were great, the other a little chewy but ok...the iberico however, though basically presented in the same way, was amazingly good - great choice Service was very friendly...we ordered a bottle of red wine, photo follows, which was very good with the food...our only real gripe was that the wines were excessively expensive which sort of puts a downer on the meal and we struggled to find something reasonable...we know Sweden well of course so you expect it, but this was definitely OTT, shame Would return but would head straight for the iberico for sure! read more

If you are a vegetarian best to avoid this place unless you just want drinks at the bar. It's a meat lovers paradise, and in particular, steak lovers. The name says it all really. They have lovely old leather seats and a very long bar in the middle which you can sit around. It's designed with old style interiors and comfortable furniture. I loved the interior here and makes you feel grand. The menu has many meat based starters and the main courses including burgers, steaks and so on. The drinks list is also extensive including a nice selection of cocktails. I had the Finnish which is a G&T made with Napue gin from Finland. This was a really nice drink and I enjoyed it very much. For starters I had six oysters which were tasty and super fresh. The Griffins extraordinaire burger was also nice and came with delicious fries and onion rings with a truffle mayo....yummm. Service was slow to start but picked up and I had a nice evening. I would happily come here again for a meal. read more

I got lucky finding this place at 10pm on my first night in Stockholm and oh my I'm not going to leave here less than 5 lbs heavier than I started. The food was rich, delicious and salty- YUM! Hubs got the aged ribeye and I got the lobster sandwich. Neither was cheap - my sandwich cost about $40. However, this sandwich beats out any other lobster roll I've ever had because of 1) it came with a bay shrimp cole slaw that would have been delicious on it's on own and 2) it came with fries that are accompanied by a sriracha-ish aioli and a truffle aioli. The lobster itself was good, but the combination of sandwich ingredients was just spectacular. Oh, also, the butter they serve with their bread has a genius secret- it's mixed with BROWNED butter and is therefore extra delicious. read more

SCHICKIMICKI IN STOCKHOLM Upon arriving at about 5:00 p.m. on a Friday afternoon, we were cheerfully greeted and seated immediately at a small table along the windows facing the bar. We had made a reservation in advance. The table had a plastic bottle of BBQ sauce on it, along with tubes of salt and some other spice, and an over-sized thimble of butter. Drink orders were taken and bread in a bag was placed on our table. The bread was covered with sesame and very tasty, though over-salted. This, combined with the salted butter, was overkill. We ordered a couple of craft beers and a couple glasses of the French Syrah. Everything was wonderful. Looking around, we noticed that some folks were dressed in saggy jeans and t-shirts, while others were dressed to the nines. Women had invested time on make up, hair and accessories. Some men appeared to have just come from the office and were still in suits. We ordered the tenderloin and rib eye, with fries and new (baby) potatoes. Everything was delicious, though the tenderloin cut could have been higher quality for the price. The rib eye was slightly above average. Overall, the food rates 3 stars. What warrants the 4th star are the highly-attentive waitstaff, trendy atmosphere and unique wine list. If I lived in the area, I would frequent this locale for drinks - not so much the food. read more

Griffins steakhouse adds itself to the long list of Stockholm restaurants where you, if you have some perspective on customer service, feel like they want you to be grateful that they'll have you. Snotty reception staff and outright rude bartenders that did the job of serving drinks ok but handled our inquiries due to misaligned expectations with a great deal of arrogance and told us off in a way that threw me off completely. That aside, table service was ok and the food was pretty good. Some of us had the three for three hundred menu that seemed pretty weak. I had a steak that was well prepared and good. But, the whole experience is tarnished by the feeling of not being particularly welcome and unappreciated. When are Swedish restaurant guests gonna wake up and demand decent customer service?! read more

I visited Griffins both for eating and for hanging out for a drink or two at the bar. If I would just look at the food and dining experience I would not rate it as highly. The chef's deliver standard steakhouse fare at the quality level I would expect, there is nothing really wrong with it but I find it difficult to be overexcited about it. What they are however doing great is to offer something decent close to the central station. There are not many places to go around here for a good bite to eat so they really excel in that way. The best dish I had was the rib-eye while I was slightly disappointed in the burger and the tenderloin was just acceptable. What I do however think that they do even better is to be a nice place to hang out for an after work drink or beer. The bartenders are great at mixing drinks, they have a good selection of wine and the beer selection is also good enough. read more

My colleague and I have the audacity to show up here on a Sunday night without a reservation. Just make sure to indicate her displeasure. We were able to sit at the bar and in the end that worked out for me. The steak was delicious. The mashed potatoes or memorably good. I was tempted to go back on this trip just because of those! Been here for both brunch and dinner, and they did deliver high quality both times. The a la carte might be priced in the higher range of steakhouses in Stockholm, but theres no question that its great food. The brunch is branded as a minor up tempo spot, with a DJ throwing some music while enjoying your food. Waiters are friendly and relaxed in a good way which adds to the nice feeling you get within the venue. Regarding the offerings on the brunch, they do have a lot, probably one of the most generous offerings i have seen in Stockholm so far. Cheese, charcuteries, different meats and desserts i dont even want to talk about. Ill just say that is enough for you to stop thinking of sugar for a couple of days, and that its mandatory to try their special Swedish (pancake)cake made out of pancakes before leaving. Its a very cool spot to start of a Saturday or Sunday at, and theres only two options when going. Although expensive for Stockholm, the restaurant is within price range of its counterparts of most European capitals. The staff takes it kindly when you let them know of your garlic allergy and don't go "yeah, but this is a steakhouse?" on you like some others. Despite the initial warning, we've realized one of our dishes had been served with garlic, which was immediately removed from the table and resulted in free espresso at the end of the meal. The selection of drinks is quite wide, although the deserts IMHO look fancier than delicious. All and all, make sure to book a table at least a day in advance (especially for Saturday evenings) since being a walk-in customer of this place looks to be impossible. read more

Amongst most meat lovers, Griffins is considered second to AG when it comes to the best meat in Stockholm. I am an AG loyalist though, so coming here was never on the table until my girlfriend suggested doing brunch here. The reviews here on Yelp looked so favorable so I thought what the hell, let's try it. We were here today and were extremely underwhelmed by the entire thing. Griffins is super LOUD with odd music (hiphop) which makes it difficult for me to hear my girlfriend sitting across from me when she's speaking. The service is extremely inattentive - finding a waiter and getting him to help you literally required me going over to the other side and call them to our table. The food itself was the definition of mediocre. There were no labels at all describing what each food item was, it was all just displayed on an open table. There was a wide array of carbs (potatoes, fries etc) and some salads and then a smaller meat station. The salads were very greasy with tons of dressing on them - not so nice in my opinion. The meats were mostly cold or lukewarm which makes it quite unappetizing to eat. Fries soggy and cold. The dessert station was nice and boasted a great selection. The waiters several times prompted us to let them know when we wanted coffee - implying that it was included in the price paid (325 SEK/person, which in my honest opinion you don't get value for). I was very surprised when the bill was brought out and the coffee was on it. It definitely wasn't a big deal but I found it to be quite sketchy. For the price paid (400 SEK per person) - the selection was small, quality was abysmal and the service was embarrassingly bad. Is this really the best AG rival in Stockholm? Shame. read more

we tried to make a reservation on the phone but it didn't work out... so after that we got here and waited 40 mins to get a table. we had appetizers and they were good, cocktails ridiculously small but tasty. We ordered chef's Burger and griffins burger. medium to well done and they brought us raw meat. mine was alright but my fiancee's was almost leaking blood! not good... he was all grossed out "it was like going up to the cow itself and chowing down on it". p.s long haired waiter had some attitude we felt that he was the owners son or relative. Went here with one of my best friends! We like to go out for meat together! It was really great. We waited in the bar for our table, had a beer from their pretty good beer selection. Neither of us were really feeling like wine, but they also seem to have a good wine list, not my forte, so I shouldn't really say anything. We got seated and I got sparkling water and she got flat, complimentary, I forgot that it's more common in Sweden than in US. Love complimentary sparkling water. Close to Arelanda Express station, this place is perfect for both business diners as well as leisure travellers looking for a good burger (or steak). They hade some very masculine looking steak options for lunch, but in all honesty I had a more than decent salade here I was very content with. Worth the visit and worth the cost. read more

First and last time visiting this restaurant! Good news was that they did NOT do the "Swedish jam", sitting right on top of the people next to you. We had to wait 7-8 minutes for our drink order being taken/greeted at the table. The waiter was great, but the rest of experience was average. As I have noted in other reviewing Stockholm needs a Ruth's Chris Steak House (if they opened one here in Stockholm people would understand service and great food). The steak at Griffins was not good, fat and taste was poor. If not for the server I would rate 1 star! Food & wine prices are fair. I would NOT recommend Griffins.
