When I first began, I had my mom do my taxes with her tax preparer and I did not understand the process of how it was done and her tax preparer would process it wrong at times stating I owed money when I didn't for example. So after that frustration I decided to get help from a friend and they were not completely clear on how to do it and one does not get their highest refund. So then I finally decided to invest in a tax preparer myself last year. I choice H&R black because it was close and I wanted to go on person. I paid a high price only to leave feeling confused about how my taxes was processed. I did not feel comfortable to ask as many questions about what was happening on the screen because when I would, the preparer would quickly answer and then change the subject to ask me questions regarding my personal life. I left feeling like I had not understood the full process of my taxes filed, I did not get my questions answered concerning my other taxes, and I was not taught how to navigate the profile that I had online despite it was in person. Now coming to Story Tax was such a different experince. I was hesitant at first because it was not close and the service was not in person but it was the best choice I made. I left feeling like I understood how my taxes was processed, all my questions was answered, I was instructed on how to use the website over a phone call, when I got out he website it was super efficient and easy to navigate (it felt like when you trying to get somewhere and you don't even have to wait for the train).
