We shared a Turkish borek, porchetta panini fr Rubens, and a char siu meat pie fr Amelies. They have a ton of prepared food options like baked goods, sausages, fried chicken, ethnic food, charcuterie and raw seafood. First of all, the borek was a nice starter. It had a lot of fillings, and made me want to go to Turkey. On the other hand, the pie was a bit disappointing. It was bland and the crust wasn't flaky. Lastly, the porchetta was fantastic. The pork was really tender and nicely seasoned. The crackling on top was genius. Regarding the ambiance, the grounds are massive. The food hall has prepared food on both ends, and fresh meat & seafood in the middle. A lot of people come w/ carts. All of the vendors were super nice. We even bought some bread, charcuterie and marinated octopus for later. I highly recommend QVM if you visit Melbourne. They have something for everybody.

That first plate was unforgettable -- perfectly tender with a crisp, light coating that we couldn't stop talking about. Since then, it's been a bit hit or miss with the calamari. My son ordered the kids' calamari on one visit, which wasn't quite the same, and on another visit, we ordered the regular calamari again but the coating was falling off a bit -- still crispy, just not the same magic as that first time. The fish dishes, however, have been consistently excellent. The crispy whole snapper with red curry sauce was hands down my favorite -- beautifully cooked, packed with flavor, and the perfect balance of crispy skin and tender flesh. The whole King George whiting was rich and satisfying, and both the grilled barramundi and baby snapper were fresh and well prepared. Service has been solid on every visit -- friendly, efficient, and attentive without being overbearing. We usually sat outside, which made the experience even better with views of the waterfront and a laid-back, breezy atmosphere. Thankfully I was able to get a table outside (great area for people watching!) I started with the sambal ray and a glass of champagne. The ray was really good and the champagne wasn't bad for just the house option. For the main course I got the seafood claypot and some of the chili bread for dipping as well as a glass of chardonnay. First, the bad part, the main came out less than a minute after my appetizer. I was mildly annoyed by this, but in the end it wasn't a huge deal since the clay pot kept it piping hot until I was ready to eat it anyway. The bread, couscous, seafood and broth were all really good. I did my best to soak up all of the broth with my bread and in the end I had no chance at finishing the huge helping of couscous. Food came quickly at the start but then they lost one of our later order submissions so we waited ages for the last batch. If you are on a time constraint (damn you, work!), I would advise to order as much as possible in one go. I must say, this is the first opportunity I've had in Australia to indulge in all you can eat salmon sashimi, so naturally I went nuts and binge ate my way through these beauties. A few of them didn't have the fat completely trimmed off, but overall they were pretty decent quality. I thought the prawn dumplings were hella good, they were freshly steamed and hot (nobody likes warm dumplings!) and on par with my fave yum cha restaurant. The scallops (which were on the 'specials' menu), were special indeed, prepared a bit differently to what I've seen before, and garnished with sliced chilli, definitely worth getting a plate of these. Their grilled eggplant was cooked in a sweet miso sauce (I think?), very soft and tasty. That rounds off my top 4. Dessert options consisted of either sweet red bean soup (not bad) or seasonal fruit. Order both, just coz you can! I was quite impressed with the wide selection of different types of Asian cuisine available. The dining experience was more like a banquet, as they offer a sit down table service and bring the food to you, which is not common for buffets but definitely should be, from a hygiene perspective. FYI they do have chopsticks, but you have to ask for them. Come prepared with a huge appetite, and you will enjoy it here!

DO NOT DINE HERE!!!…read more My family and I have been ordering takeaway from Chois for years. This was our first time dining in. Our booking was confused with another large group and we were placed in the private dining room. The manager Amy began to ABUSE my mother about conversations that occurred over the phone with the other group. My mother was accused of hanging up the phone and disregarding emails. Amy the manager then realised that she had confused us for another group and did not apologise or explain her lack of professionalism. Amy instructed us to move to the main dining room where the rest of the dining staff greeted us with animosity. The food service was fine and we managed to salvage the rest of our evening. The bill arrived and we were charged $39 for WATER($13 per bottle). We specifically requested tap water and the waiters accused us of requesting still. We tried to reason with them but they treated us with the same rudeness that they displayed at the start of our evening. The food was unbelievable expensive and they charged us a $25 fee for brining our own birthday cake. After the water debacle our night was completely ruined. We went there for a birthday celebration and had the most memorable night of our lives FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS.
