After the RX he prescribed didn't work (which I told him I'd already been treated with strong medicine by a dermatologist and I just wanted it removed at that first visit but ignoring what I asked for he had me get a prescription anyway which also did not work. On second visit he said that he could surgically remove it BUT it would have to be done in a surgery center that he could not remove it in his office. I don't know if you've been to a surgery center recently but the cost can be $5000 to $7500. I thought a surgery center for a small wart was overkill so I waited till I went back to Seattle to find a more skilled podiatrist. With the new podiatrist he gave me a shot to numb my toe and then in what seemed like 10 seconds had the nail ablation done. And for this simple procedure Dr Sheingold wanted a surgery center!!! I would never recommend him and wish there were zero stars to give him.

I was placed in a cast and told my facture was non-weight bearing; I was to use a wheelchair or a scooter and the cast would have to stay on until 1/16. I later learned it was a simple fracture, that a boot would have been sufficient and it was NOT non-weight bearing. The fracture was fully healed by 12/11 - more than a month earlier than he wanted to keep me in a cast. He was also told me the injections could not be submitted to insurance because there was no billing code, which I later learned was not accurate. As long as he submits the visit, x-ray and cast to my insurance he has to submit the stem cell injections. In my opinion this experience felt more focused on out-of-pocket charges than patient care. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion or looking for a other options before agreeing to costly or invasive treatments.

He has compassion for the patient that shows through each visit. The office experience is simple and easy, carefree and quick. I have very high arches and a high step, which has made finding comfortable shoes difficult for years. I also developed painful calluses and assumed the issue was simply footwear. Dr. Calcagni took the time to clearly explain the anatomy of my feet and why they require specific support. Once that underlying issue was addressed, the pain resolved completely--just as he said it would. I had been waiting 15 minutes when Dr. Trathen came out and introduced himself, aplogizing for the wait. I was flabbergasted to say the least. I've waited in doctor's offices before but never had such an apology delived by a doctor. Right away you feel comfortable addressing Dr. Trathen by his first name. Eric is a very caring, and worked hard to solve my problem. His nurse was wonderful also. I have found an exceptional podiatrist.
