My husband and I just visited Grimaldis for lunch, the place is so beautifully decorated, great music, and the staff is wonderful, Perla was our waitress she was fantastic. We started with a Giant slice, white pizza with bacon, I loved this slice is thin, crispy and flavorful. Then we had half the Don and half pepperoni and hot honey, both flavors were awesome, and this pizza was crispy, really good crust. We ordered the 12 inch pizza plus the big slice, and that was enough for the two of us, we had leftovers we took of course. We had a great experience, and we'll definitely be back! read more

Was seated for 20 minutes before I finally got up and asked if we could order food as we still hadn't seen our waiter. Waiter finally came, and we ordered food. 15 minutes passed by and realized I still didn't have my glass of wine and no waiter in sight. I walked up to the bar and found my pour just waiting. Confirmed with the bartender that was my glass and he gave it to me. Sat back down and the waiter was talking to my kids and noticed my wine and said "oh I was about to check on that!" Finally we received our pizza after 30+ minutes from time of order. It's not been almost an hour from the time we sat down - no Parmesan, no pepper flakes. Still waiting for the hot honey sauce we ordered with the pizza... Went to neighboring tables to get the condiments, and my husband got up and found someone to get us the hot honey. Never saw the waiter until after we were done eating. I haven't had that bad of service like that in a really long time. He knew it was poor service and led us to believe dessert was on the house -so we ordered 2 desserts for our family of 4 and when we asked for the bill he charged us. Luckily he had just placed the order in and I was so frustrated over tonight's events I had him cancel the dessert so we could leave. We had a very disappointing experience today. Our family of six came in for a late lunch and ordered two 16-inch pizzas. After 45 minutes, our food still hadn't arrived. Our waitress checked on us only twice. The second time was after I flagged her down, and we were told the pizzas would be out "in a few minutes." Ten more minutes passed with no food, so I flagged her down again and asked to close out our bill instead. During this time, other parties with similar-sized groups were seated after us and served before us, which made the situation even more frustrating. We ended up leaving without ever receiving our pizzas. Our bill was $36 for one appetizer and five soft drinks, and there was no apology, explanation, or offer to comp any portion of the bill. Because it was so late by the time we left, we had to go to the mall food court to feed our family. This also meant purchasing additional beverages with our meals, which made the entire situation cost us significantly more than it should have. We understand restaurants get busy, but the lack of communication and basic customer service was unacceptable. Unfortunately, this experience makes it very hard to want to return. read more

I have loved Grimaldis forever. The last few times we've been to the Baybrook one it's been very sad. Today they didn't have clean cups so we got plastic, they have limited salt so we had to share our shaker with another table and then the pizza took so long to come out. So very sad. It's great food. Stopped by Grimaldi's last night and we loved it. Wait for our food was a little long but understandable since they were pretty busy. But the wait was worth it! The caesar salad was delicious. We came at 5:30 on a weekday and had fast service, ordering 3 eighteen inch pizzas and a large salad. The dough on the pizza had the perfect amount of chewiness and the sauce tasted so fresh. Definitely recommend the pepperoni and hot honey pizza. My only tip would be to order extra cheese and order it with sauce to the edge to make less crust. There was a newer pizza called the ivy pizza that was universally disliked by our group. It tasted too strong of jalapeño, despite there being many other toppings on the pizza. read more

I love the mood and the decor of inside the restaurant. It's very spacious as well. Excellent service from our waiter who explained to me on the food items and what was a popular choice. I was able to choose a delicious pizza. The crust had a nice slight burnt edge that was crispy. The toppings were tasty and plentiful which also stayed on the slice even as I picked one up. I'm glad the marinara sauce was light because I'm not a big fan of a huge amount of it on my pizza. I got the 16" size. read more

the service was great as always and the taste was fine, but the people making the pizzas were visibly goofing off and failed to meet the standards set by my and my friend's previous experiences. we had ordered a pepperoni pizza with extra mozzarella. unfortunately our pizza had horribly uneven toppings only two slices actually having an even amount of cheese, the caveat was that there was 0 sauce on them. the rest of the pizza was a mix of bald spots, cheese thrown on without thought and with uneven amounts of sauce. the worst part was that places with cheese had no sauce and vice versa. there was also no extra mozzarella if anything there was less than normal. i must reiterate that the quality of ingredients was great, the service was great, and the taste was fine. the only issue is that the pizza was put together with 0 thought or care. this place is usually amazing though. read more

My son and I love this location and we happily drive from Baytown to get here. The last time we visited, service was slow and took over 20 minutes for a pizza; which was long for them, but today took the cake. We waited well over 30 minutes while three parties that came in after us were served. We only had two drinks and a salad. I signaled for the waitress who had no explanation as to why we had not received our very basic 1/2 pepperoni/1/2 cheese pizza. I told her to cancel the order and we left. Grimaldi's Pizzeria - Baybrook location. You slipping! Brought some close friends to eat late lunch (around 2pm) during Spring Break (Wednesday). Plenty of seating and they didn't seem busy at all. Sat down quickly , ordered and then the wait began. We only ordered two pizzas ( pepperoni and the don). Must of waited an easy 30 min before the first pizza came out. Then another 20 min for second . It felt like waiters were just bored standing around , cooks making pizza seemed busy but almost slow and not efficient. Not sure shat the problem was that day. Pizza was not as good as I remember. The don seemed to be missing cheese in some places and the dough was not cooked. So all the toppings just slid off. Super disappointed. Overhyped to friends. I visited this restaurant for the 1st time in a couple of years. I sat at the bar and was attended to by a bartender by the name of DeSean. He was very nice and attentive despite being the only front of house person working, which I respect a lot. I ordered 1 thing to go, and it's an item called the PB&J Pizza, which stands for Pepperoni, Bacon, and Jalapeños. I put the Jalapeños on half of the pizza since some of my family doesn't like it spicy. The pizza is how a New York style pizza should, thin and foldable when eating. I like it spicy so when I tried it, it was a very good combination. I always order Pepperoni and Jalapeños on a pizza but never added bacon before. Those 3 toppings alone was awesome. I will get that again. I had a glass of Moscato while I waited. While I was waiting, DeSean and I struck up a conversation and we talked on and off for a good 35 to 40 minutes, while he attended to the other 2 couples that was at the bar. His service alone deserves a 5 out of 5 stars. This is the 2nd time I've been here because I wanted to give this place another chance after the Calzone I had the 1st time I came to this place was less than impressive and I'm glad I did come back. Came here on a Monday evening. There were not many tables but there was a wait. They said they were training servers tonight. We were seated and no one came to take our drink order. We had to flag someone down who was very nice and apologized and placed a drink order for us. But the drinks were left sitting at the bar and didn't make it to our table. We had to get up and go get them ourselves. Had to grab someone else to place our food order. He also apologized and said he didn't know who our server was. This is how the rest of the evening went. We had to go find someone to refill our drinks, bring to go box, pay the bill, etc. We never did have whoever was supposed to be our server come to our table but we had to flag down several different people so someone could have easily communicated to get us taken care. We were there for about 2.5 hours because of all our time spent waiting. read more

Would love to give a review of the food but I didn't get any. The hostess seated us and gave us menus. Then...nothing. We sat and watched as waiters/ waitresses walked by us. No offer of drinks. My friends and I came here on a cold Friday night about 7:30ish pm. We had to wait 10-15min which is really good wait time for a Friday night! We were seated at our table that had olives and crumbs leftover from the previous party. We didn't have any silverware, when we got our salads we had to eat them with spoons which worked our good actually because the server was so busy maybe? I had some wine and wasn't sure which to get- our server was nice and brought me some samples so I could decide. Came here two weeks ago. The pizza was good, but not something i'd come back for. Sauce was pretty bland and barely any cheese on the pizza. Pizza was also very thin, I left hungry and ate 4 slices. Service was great though and the restaurant had a nice New York vibe to it. read more

I've been dining at Grimaldi's for years at various locations - mostly at the Woodlands location. As always, I'm in love with the pizza and it's what brings me back time and time again. Since moving to the Bay Area, about a year ago, I've visited this location several times and the service has ranged from underwhelming to plain bad. I've never had any issues being seated which is nice. There's always tables available. However, that's where the pros end. It takes far too long to even order drinks. So much so that at my latest visit I started a stop watch after waiting for several minutes of watching the servers help the tables around me and counted roughly 15 additional minutes before being acknowledged at all. The pizza consistently takes north of 30-40 minutes. It's really quite astonishing since I've never seen it more than about a third full. With the same stopwatch my latest visit took 47 min after ordering for the pizza to arrive. It's frustrating because I do enjoy both the pizzas and the restaurant line in general, but nearly all of my experiences at this location have let me down and felt like a waste of time. Bottom line is - I thoroughly enjoy the pizzas but recommend either ordering ahead for takeout or visiting another location since dining in really isn't worth all the time spent waiting around. 2 stars for pizza, 0 for service. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to check out Grimaldi's on Sunday after a day of watching movies and shopping at Baybrook Mall. Neither of us have ever been, and after this experience it's unlikely that we will return. Walked in and there was a sign at the unoccupied hostess counter stating that "Pizza Paused", indicating that they were taking a break (perhaps for prep work, etc) but the sign gave no indication as to when the pause would end. After standing there for a few moments perusing a menu at the counter and deciding whether to stay or go, one of the workers (not the hostess) came from the back offering to seat us and also notified us that the "Pizza Pause" would end at 4pm (the time was 3:57pm). We were seated and a server (believe the name was Shannon/Shanna) introduced herself and took our drink orders. Water and iced tea arrived swiftly, the drink from the bar took a while. We were seated near the bar, saw one bartender there who appeared to be moving in slow motion. Remember, we just came in right at the end of their "Pizza Pause" so the place wasn't crowded/busy. Received all of our drinks and placed our food order. Because my boyfriend and I have different opinions on what makes a good pizza, we ordered two pizzas and had also contemplated ordering dessert for later. Food still hadn't been brought to our table and the server came by to check on us and asked if there was anything we needed....but gave no indication as to when our food would be ready. Glanced at my watch and noticed we had been waiting 45 minutes with no food and also observed others who had arrived after us chowing down on their respective pizzas. Boyfriend got up and flagged down the server. She said that our pizzas had been placed in the oven but then their pizza turner broke, therefore our pizzas had burned because they couldn't get them out of the oven. Another guy (supposedly a manager) overheard the conversation between my boyfriend and the server and stated that our pizzas had not made it to the oven yet and it would be a while before they did. Regardless of which story was accurate, the bottom line is we did not receive any food from Grimaldi's that day. Boyfriend didn't go into detail regarding his conversation with said manager but basically said the dude was being a jerk about the situation. After some back and forth, our beverages were comped and we left. Once my boyfriend has a sour experience at an establishment he has no desire to return....we are done with Grimaldi's. The major concern here is that there was a quandary in the kitchen causing a significant delay with our food and we weren't notified. It should be the manager's duty to come by the table and notify customers of any mishaps, we shouldn't have to chase people down for answers. Anyway TLDR.... 1) Would be great if the Pizza Pause sign indicated what time the pause on production would end 2) Drinks made from the bar were slow to arrive, although the establishment wasn't busy 3) Management/staff fail at communicating with customers when a issue that causes a significant delay to orders arises read more

Nice hot and fresh made pizza. We were at the mall for the movie night and my kids wanted pizza. Thankfully this place wasn't too far away and I ordered and walked over to pick it up. The place was a bit dark inside but nice. There were no clear indication of where pick up was and I was immediately skipped over for customer who came in behind me. The woman at the bar wasn't very nice but she must have been very busy as she was by herself trying to man the bar and the to go orders by herself. The place seemed like it was trying to be more romantic than a pizza place. Still the hanging lights were very nice but didn't give much light. I almost felt like I needed a flashlight to see well.
