It's a nice Sunday afternoon for some good pizza

You can't go wrong picking Grimaldi's for pizza. Our server was a master at explaining the ingredients that go into every pizza, the sauce and even suggested we sign up for their rewards program to get a free appetizer. We ordered "The Don" which has an artful array of pepperoni, hand-pinch Italian sausage and dime-sized meatball slices. When a large pie of coal-fired pizza arrived to the table still crackling from the intense heat of the oven, its crust kissed by a smoky char that added just the right crunch to each bite. The outer edges are puffed and blistered, feather-light with a gentle snap, while the base is thin, sturdy, and faintly smoky from the coal's sear. That tangy tomato sauce made by Grimaldi's has been slow-simmered to deepen its natural sweetness. A few torn basil leaves wilt just slightly atop the heat, releasing their peppery aroma, while a drizzle of olive oil glistens under the light, promising rich flavor in every mouthful. And the meat toppings for "The Don"... Ay marron! A gentle kiss of heat and spice just brings the overall taste to a curtain call of deliciousness. It's not just pizza. It's old school fire-born pure delight.

I want to love this place. I truly want it to be our weekly local spot, but it's just too far off. Dirty. White lights like we are in a hospital. Lack of care or service. Management is nonexistant. It would not take much to get this place to a 10, but it's lacking so much love. The bones are there. The location is there. Food could be on point. We've come here on a Sunday, a Saturday, and a Wednesday.

    Bruschetta was really good

My business partner and I were on our way to DFW airport and pizza sounded good. We had an hour and a half and Grimaldi's was only 3 miles from the airport. So we stopped in at 3:45pm on a Thursday. They are known for good pizza and we were the only table seated so this was gonna be good. Well, the service was slow. Our waitress was nice but it appears they got some to-go pizzas called in and 30 mins after ordering our pizza and calzone we still didn't have anything. Only one more table occupied. After asking we were told just a few more minutes. My pizza came out in 5 min and I was 1/2 done before my buddies calzone came out. Not good service standards at all. I can't imagine a busy night. Regardless, I really liked our bruschetta. Some of the best I've had in a while and my pizza was really good. Don't come here unless you have plenty of time to sit and wait. Otherwise, enjoy the pizza it's good!

Burned basil on the pan too that we had to takeoff. We didn't even bother eating this piece.

Every time we have gone to this location this year the wait time for our food is ridiculous. This visit was no different but this time the pizza was burned and 3 pieces had large "bubbles" of crust with nothing on them like the picture. I brought it to the waitresses attention and she offered to have them make us another one, but we didn't want to wait 30 minutes or more for it so we salvage what we could out of it. She said she brought it to the manager's attention and was trying to get a coupon for a free pizza for us, but he was back in the kitchen helping him make pizzas so he took eight dollars off our pizza. I told her that's fine. I'll just let my review reflect how I felt about it. He should've made more of an effort to make it right.

Excellent salads and calzones. The small salads and small calzones are both huge and plenty enough to share for 2.

First off, Grapevines Main st. district is jumping. It is what it wants to be... alive and thriving. So this pizza spot has a ton of good reviews. Yes, well deserved. The place is trendy, but casual. The service - extraordinary. The pizza - stone oven flavor, sauced to the edge, cheesey, also to the edge. Crumbly seasoned Italian sausage, oh so savory. Nothing amiss, each component its own bite. This was layer upon layer of its namesake - Extraordinary. That usual layer of grease that sits atop pepperoni? Nope. Just crispy pepps. No greasey layered top or bottom, just great bites, bite after bite. Super light on the tummy as well. This was a dough like no other. It held its own to the toppings without being heavy. Took one home to do a cold test. Yes, just as awesome cold. Reheatable you ask? Yes? Bye. Hope like heck you're thriving in this economy. Hope you're keeping your heads high, looking forward, focused on the future, but not missing this very moment. Wow! What an amazing experience overall at Mister 01 pizza. They claim to have extraordinary pizza…read moreand I must say everything about Mister 01 was a hit. We loved the Star Luca with pepperoni. The ricotta stuff in the stars was tasty. We spread it over the pizza and delicious. The crust is thin and tasty made with just a few ingredients and they proof it for 72 hours. The manager, Oliver said they do this so it's easier to digest. Then we had the salad Laura with Burata Stracciatella cheese, fresh cut tomatoes, croutons and fresh sliced parmesan cheese. I sprinkled some balsamic vinegar on top and this is a winner salad. So much that we took 1/2 of it home. Our server, Victoria was great, welcoming and passed our meal service with a great tone. We love Mister 01!!!
