Been here a couple of times now, and while the pizza is great, the service has been subpar. On the first visit, it was a Wednesday night, place was fairly busy. Service was just incredibly slow. Each step of the meal just had long delays; getting drinks, placing our order, getting our salad, getting our pizza, just lots of downtime between each step. On the latest visit, we arrived at about 4:30 on a Sunday, place was empty, the hostess informed us that the pizza oven was still heating up and it would be about 30 minutes before we could get a pizza. We figured we'd have a salad to start, so not a big deal. We got a salad and put in our pizza order. Place starts filling up. Finish our salad and notice that a few of the tables that came in after us have started getting their pizzas. After 3-4 of them are served, our server comes over and tells us that there was a mix up and they're just putting our pizza in the oven now. Annoying, but not a big deal in my book. 5-10 minutes later, now about 5:30, the manager comes over with our pizza. Asks us what we were told for when pizzas would be available. Explains that they don't serve pizzas until 5:30, so this pizza is really on time, and that the hostess should have been clearer. Which would be fine, except other people were getting their pizzas before us already, so the story just doesn't make a lot of sense. I'm also wondering why they're even open before being able to serve pizzas, since pizza is basically the only thing on the menu. I don't think I'd dine-in here again. Order for take-out, you'll probably be happier. read more

My kids love it here, they think it is "fancy" and I have to admit, it does have a nice ambiance. I like the NY pictures all over the walls and the chandeliers made out of old wine bottles. The wood trim is also a nice touch. The first time we got a large pizza with cheese on 1/3, pepperoni on 1/3 and mushrooms on 1/3. Beware, they charge $2.00 for each topping weather or not it is on the whole pizza, half or a third. Each topping is a flat $2.00 so I feel better ordering a large pie and paying $2.00 than I do ordering a small and paying $2.00 per topping. Their salads are large enough for 2-3 folks to split and we like the caprese or the antipasto. Go on Tuesday in the summer and wine is 1/2 price except for house or Sangria!! So with all that said, we really like the pepperoni toppings and the meatball toppings. BUT, my kids just use going there as an excuse to eat the cannoli :) read more

The original Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest registered businesses in America, cool! Excellent coal oven pizza, best served fresh. Word to the wise: I've tried taking this pizza home and it just doesn't translate well- it gets a bit rubbery, even if you try to crisp it back up in the oven. But when you eat this pizza fresh from the oven, oh boy. The fresh mozzarella dropped onto the pizza in chunks (no shredded cheese here folks), combined with the excellent sauce and superb crust- it's awesome. I've heard that Grimaldi's pH balances their water on site to make it more like NYC water- since everyone knows that's what makes NYC pizza so good. The menu is quite simple- pizza and salad. There's little to choose from in the way of apps but that's OK the pizza is the centerpiece anyway. They do offer draught beer and a decent wine selection at affordable prices. Right when I walked in I was greater by the host and sat as the bar since I asked for a to go order menu. A bartender came over to offer me a drink, which I declined since I ha to go back to work. The bartender also explained the menu to me, and that was very nice. A personal pizza is $9 and most toppings are $2 to $4 extra. Chicken is $5. After putting sundries tomatoes, baby spinach and chicken on my personal size pizza the bill came back as $21 with tax. The pizza was served to me in 10 minutes, so it'd didn't take long to cook. We were frozen and frost bitten so we needed and wanted a nice warming meal to revitalize our bodies. We had the Grimaldi Salad and Pesto Pizza with Onions, Garlic, and Jhelepinos. So my wife and I went tonight, and we ordered their new prosciutto and arugula pizza. The prosciutto was baked with the pizza, not placed uncooked afterwards as I'm used to, though that worked out because my wife finds fresh sliced prosciutto too swiney for her tastes. However, the "arugula" was actually romaine and spinach, torn into small pieces to hide what it really was. They must have run out, and should have been up front with us. However, the pizza was pretty good nonetheless and we didn't feel like raising a stink tonight, so we brushed it off and played along. The service was attentive and prompt. We've been here several times, and always it's at least a solid pizza, and sometimes really good. read more

Well we came here by accident. My MIL wanted to take us to an Italian food place she wanted to try but they had the way we were trying to go blocked off due to construction. So we headed down william d tate and in the spirit of trying something new we decided to pull in here knowing little to nothing about the place. I really like they have a coal fired pizza oven ... its just that their options are so ... lacking. They only had two salad dressings, so I skipped the salad, and the MIL wasn't trilled with hers. They had ZERO pizza toppings that I like so we opted for a small pizza for the kiddo and I too share. The pizza wasn't bad but it was by far not worth going back for. My daughter, who loves cheese pizza, didn't eat. The service was great ... our waitress was really great. Though, I think she did worry she wasn't going to get a great tip because she could tell that we didn't like our food ... don't worry friends she got a great tip ... not her fault we're a ranch family! I just called Grimaldi about my order and I spoke with Abel first. I explained that I ordered fresh basil on the side. Any other time that I order with Grubhub any additional or special requests on the order are additionally added to the ticket before they send it out to you. That's how it works. Why have an additional option to add additional requests on order if you can't value it. Abel told me that because I didn't pay for it that they didn't give it to me. Are you serious?.. Abel was so rude, and the way he spoke to me was terrible. He told me that he didn't even see it on the order. And I told him that I was looking at the order and it clearly shows it. So I asked to speak to the manager and Matt, was no better. They both put the blame on me stating that because I didn't pay for it they didn't give it to me. And that they don't have any way to edit the ticket or add anything to the ticket once it comes through to them. That makes no sense. I would have been fine with an apology and them just saying we'll make sure to have your additional basil on your next order but they wouldn't even do that. I have just gotten an appetite over 24 hrs of finding out that my friend has just passed away and I ordered and spent over $40 and tip on this order. Just to be blamed for an error on their end. I was so frustrated that I told them that I didn't want it, and that I wanted to just bring everything up there since I hadn't touched it and get a full refund. He stated that I could bring it back up there but I would have to call Grubhub to get my refund. I'm just so over it. I understand that we're going through shortages on staff and the pandemic, but it cost nothing to do right by people and have decent customer service. Having just return from Italy and trying to find a place that's almost as good, Grimaldi's is the best so far. Never plan try Grimaldi's but was meeting up with friends, glad I did. Very tasty, after having 'real' pizza in Italy it will be hard to go back those 'delivery' pizza again. I will pay extras at Grimaldi's. Went there last night with high hopes and was a little disappointed.i just didn't like the way the menu is set up.the large base pizza starts off at 16 dollars and each additional topping is a extra 2 or 4 dollars depending on what you get.so things could add up quickly. Especially if you pile on the toppings.you could wind up spending 30 bucks easy.and why don't they have like a supreme or some kind of meat pizza?me and my buddy just got a two topping pizza because we didn't want things to add up.it took awhile for our pizza to get to the table but when it did i thought it was really good.especially the crust and sauce.a little skimpy on the toppings though.the place its self is really nice and has a nice atmosphere.would I go back?maybe but wouldn't go out of my way. read more

Delicious thin crusted pizza. Pleasant restaurant if you are in the mood for pizza. Nothing fancy about the options - no goat cheese, arugula, capers, or unusual toppings, but the crust is thin and crispy and well cooked and the toppings are excellent. We ate outdoors since indoors was full and the wait list longer than we wanted to wait, and we were glad that the evening breezes were pleasant and the noise level down from what we heard inside. I"m beginning to love coming to work more and more because of all these new restaurants that are popping up. One of the additions I'm excited about is Grimaldi's! Took my employees here for lunch one afternoon & fortunately for us, it's walking distance. However, for everyone else; it could get a little tricky entering the shopping center due to all the NorthGate construction. I was a bit disappointed because we stood around the hostess stand for awhile before anyone offered to seat us, even though there were 10 eyes staring back at us. We were unsure if we were supposed to seat ourselves. We ordered a caprese salad, which was delicious by the way. Can't go wrong with mozzarella cheese...EVER! And we each got our own personal pizzas. When it all came out, we realized we could've easily shared the pizza! It was that big! Forewarning; the portions are huge! You could easily share one salad and a personal pizza, if you're not hefty eaters. You get to pick your own toppings and sauce; my advice, stick to Grimaldi's house sauce. AFter all, that's what they're known for. All in all; I'll definitely be back and looking forward to kicking my feet back & seeing what other eatery pops up over here. read more

Came here for my birthday date with the hubs. We ordered the antipasti which was small but tasted very good. Then, we had a meatball pizza. The meatballs are the best I've ever had in a restaurant. They don't aren't full of filler and taste like dog food like most restaurant meatballs. The pizza was very good but could have used a bit more sauce. It was a little dry. This would have gotten a 5 star easy from me and the wife but instead the service makes it get 4 stars. First the food, I am a bronx born fan of pizza and the wife brooklyn. We used to drive all the way to Dallas to get this pizza. Outside of Joe Scala in Westlake there is nothing here period. The pizza is great as is the salads. Fantastic in taste , sauce and the little cheese they put on. I like the plain and I also get a artichoke and Ricotta one each time I go. Always get them well done, as this is proper for pizza. The outside of the place is really nice and inside the same as all the others. The problem is the service especially at the bar. The lady at the bar, especially at lunch, likes to watch her texts for hours, gets your orders wrong and gets the check wrong. I have had her three times and three times all the same. The wife gets her fave- white pizza with Italian sausage and onions. Personal - hah!!! Six large slices per pizza of smoking hot deliciousness. Just the right amount of sauce... Fresh mozzarella. I came here last Wednesday with my fiancee. I've been wanting to try style of pizza for awhile. We ordered a small Mediterranean salad. Then we ordered a 12" traditional with Italian sausage and mushroom and a 12" white with grilled chicken and bacon. Both were good except the grilled chicken tasted like old rotisserie chicken to me. I was in TX visiting, and on most vacations I like to try a local pizza joint. The atmosphere at Grimaldi's is superb; it's clean, there are booths, and every table is covered in a cute gingham table cloth! I ordered a small salad to share with my mom (it could've fed 4!!!) and a 16 inch cheese pizza. The pizza was delish! The crust was my favorite part... I would describe it as "crunchewy" (crunchy + chewy) which is my absolute ideal crust texture. The sauce tasted fresh, and they used fresh mozzarella which made their pizza stand out! Although the flavor was great, the mozzarella made the pizza slightly difficult to eat because it came off in huge chunks, leaving portions of the pizza slice cheese-less (does that make sense?) Anyway, that's why I gave 4 stars. For dessert, we couldn't help but order a cannoli to share! I had never tried one before, but lemme tell ya: it was SO GOOD. We also got lattes to go with it, they were strong but with the cannoli it was the perfect balance of sweet and bitter. We now have had 3 incredible meals out of 3 times coming here. Last night the weather was incredible (not only was it cool there was a breeze) we sat on the patio outside, in August. Let me first start with one thing that is important to my husband and me the service - it is almost more important to us than the food. The first time we dined here happen to be during an off lunch time so we weren't sure if the great service we received was as a result. The next time we came was a little busier again excellent one on one service even making great selections. Last night was no exception. Issac our waiter was personable and although he had to come outside (we were the only ones at the time) he enjoyed that fact. He gave us great space but still was attentive at the same time. He provided better service than we had at a recent high dollar restaurant. He was excellent. Now our food. Our first time dining here we were blown away. First off how can you go wrong picking your own toppings and type of crust!?!?! Hello? You can get a little over whelmed if you go in really really hungry like my husband did picking everything off the menu to put on his pizza. You know how you go to the grocery store shopping then come out with mega amounts of food. :) Oh and another thing...personal size is NOT personal size that thing is still big. It is no wonder we have a weight problem in this country if you can eat that all by yourself! I am just saying. These are generous sizes. On our second visit my husband and I had shared a small salad. We couldn't even finish it. Last night we were able to divide it between three people. Each time we have had a pizza my husband has tried something different and enjoyed his every time. However, never has he been able to finish a pizza even after doing a triathlon earlier in the day. Now me on the other hand I have been more a creature of habit. The first time I tried a pizza for some reason it was "mine" and I was hooked....so I have not tried another combo BUT I can tell you this each time they have ROCKED and have been consistent! Last night we ventured out and all three of us (my husband, step-daughter and I) had dessert. My step-daughter is heading off to school so we were out for dinner last night. So WE just had (wink wink) had to have dessert. Let me make a suggestion try the COMBO both my husband and I did. What is so awesome about it is this....BESIDES the desserts themselves. They are mini size and you get to PICK which cheese cake you want. My step-daughter went straight for her tiramisu. The Combo has a baby cannoli, tiramisu and cheese cake. My husband went with the NY style and I had the apple caramel. We ALL were so impressed with the tiramisu with how fluffy and airy it was with the perfect texture. Our cheese cakes....OMG!!! Perfect. My husband was eyeing mine BUT knew better. The cannoli was little but still had the flavors. I just ate mine this morning. :) While we were outside....they open the back area to bar to patio area. Come the fall nights this is going to wonderful to hang out here. We truly see Grimaldi's in our future! read more

Most delicious pizza in town. If you eat by yourself you will love it. These folks have good service but the kitchen can not get it right. We eat there 2-3 times per month and they mess our order up at least once per month-burnt, wrong toppings, dough didn't stretch well so too small. Also, consistently these folks cannot get two pizzas to the table at the same time Or within an acceptable window of time. We eat there 2-3 times per month and spend at minimum $100 per dinner. Grimaldi's Grapevine you just lost out on $3000 per year. Love you all fix the kitchen and we will come back. read more

Grimaldi's pizza here in Grapevine is in a very good location off the highway. It's one of the nicest Grimaldi's I have been at. I been a Grimaldi's lover since I visited the original location in Brooklyn, NY under the Brooklyn Bridge. I believe the original location is one owner and the rest of the locations are under a different owner. I use to wait in the long lines at the Brooklyn location but I no longer have to do that since they branched out across the U.S. This Grapevine location is very nice and cozy. The staff greeted us very nice but it took some time before they took our order. It's okay because the pizza did not take long to come out. Th pepperoni pizza was very delicious and the crust is crunchy. If a pizza crust has a good crunch then it is very good. The cannoli was also very sweet and delicious. I really like this location and will definitely be back. If you want authentic New York pizza, then come to Grimaldi's. It is as close to authentic NY pizza as you will get around here. Love Grimaldi's. Like Top 5 Favorite Pizza Joints love. Though last night was my first visit to this location, I've been chowing down Grimaldi's delicious pizza for years (well, for a couple of years and I went on a four-year break while living in London) followed by my triumphant return last night (which is going to again be followed by a break after I return to London). So there is no better way to do Grimaldi's than to start with their caesar salad followed by a pepperoni + sausage pizza and accompanied by a beer or wine. It's complete heaven and I wish so badly we had Grimaldi's in London, or even Minneapolis which I frequent more often than Dallas. This restaurant location has a large open bar area where one wall opens to the outside so everyone can melt away in 100 degree temperatures. Not sure on the design but I wouldn't mind kicking back a few in, say April, when the weather is still bearable. Go here. Eat pizza. Be happy. read more

The toppings are a little expensive and I wish they had some specialty options with combinations for a better value, but don't let this stop you. Great place! Great staff... always friend, always opens the door for you! They have peroni on draft!!! You haven't tried - you have to try! Great Italian beer! Their house red wine is delicious - I have several friends who are not a wine drink that will drink wine here. Their pizza is HUGE!!! NY style thin crust - the catch is you pay per topping which can range for $2-4 per topping! Calzone is one of my favorite but they sometimes put too much ricotta and it's gets too heavy to eat - I sometimes have to pick apart to cheese. It can get expensive if you have beer/wine and pizza but it is well worth it! read more

Shut your mouth!! Unless you're opening it to put pizza in, in that case, dELiciOUs! I've had Cane Rosso as my #1 in D/FW, however now I'm torn. It's really a situation where they're both #1, it just depends on your taste buds that day. This pizza is sensational. It's the kind that makes you say how good it is in disbelief all the way through, and while getting back in your car?! When I picture what the perfect pizza in Italy would be, this is it. In fact eating it at Grimaldi's really puts you there. The ricotta is perfect, and must be made in house fresh. All the ingredients are the highest market and over the top. I like mine a little well done and my husband doesn't, so we get two separate pizzas. For the mid-cities area, this is the best by far and will replace Cole Vines from now on without hesitation. Great patio and indoor/outdoor bar to enjoy great weather.
