I recently needed extensive repair work done to the kitchen in my condo because of water damage suffered from the adjacent neighbor's pipes backing up while he was away on vacation. Ah, the joys of shared walls! After getting everything dried out, we brought in Dan Grisa and his crew to do the repairs. The lower kitchen cabinets, oven area, and the walls behind all had to be replaced and/or repaired. Dan met with us and clearly communicated everything that needed to be done and gave us a timeline for how long the job would take. It was completed on schedule and he and his crew were as courteous and unobtrusive to our daily routine as possible while the work was being done. We used Grisa Enterprises (Dan Grisa) to remodel a house in Palm Springs. It was a very large job and Dan told us he had the experience and the ability to get it done. We had nothing but headaches and delays throughout the process. Grisa made numerous changes to the initial estimates, many times without consulting us. One of the most significant problems involved upgrading the electrical system in the house. We had been quoted a complete rewire and new panel and did not find out until it was too late that he did not complete the work. We had to call him back numerous times to correct deficiencies in the work. He was not reliable. We were left with a very sour experience and would not recommend him or use him on another project in the future. read more

As a designer, VERY VERY disappointed. In April of 2016 I hired Grisa to completely remodel two of my clients bathrooms I had design, providing him with a construction breakdown and drawings. Upon signing the contract with the home owner, Dan Grisa, explained to us he was going to be on vacation for a couple of weeks. Upon work commencing, about two weeks later, Dan Grisa was still on vacation. I then hear from another contractor whom Dan hired to oversee the project. This other contractor explained that Dan was out of the country for the next couple of months. We were never ever told this at the beginning!! I would call and call leaving messages and NEVER hear from day until one day he finally called me explaining he had extended his vacation. I ended up having to manage the entire project myself I was not hired to do, calling all of his subs to get them to get this 4 week job done that took almost three months to complete. Though I also had problems with ORD Cabinetry that took weeks to complete 6 cabinets didn't help but was also out of my hands. I was told by the new contractor that their waiting on my cabinet guys, hence why they cannot continue. I replied and asked, what does a skylight, exterior window, plumbing, electric and installing drywall that has not been done yet have to do with the cabinet guys??? NOTHING!!! Days would pass with NO work done what so ever, yet told they would be there tomorrow, or the next day or next and still did not show up. My clients ended up having to move into a hotel do to these delays and now no working bathrooms in their home. My clients are so angry that I ended up losing their kitchen and laundry room renovation they wanted to start next. To make matters worse, I was on a 10% commission from Grisa Construction that applied this to the over all total that I NEVER received to this day and I handed him this project he bailed on. He kept promising me he would pay me the 10% which he has now stolen from me!! These are facts and in writing from him he would pay me on emails he sent. We even discussed this in person in front of my showroom and again with another broken promises. His excuse was the client had not paid their balance yet and were withholding it do to the skylight not operating correctly....Really? big surprise. They didn't even install the correct VELEX skylight I requested but some off the shelf one at home depot. I asked Dan, did you not pay your subs and for all the materials used? He said yes. Then I asked, then why are you not paying me??? I should still be paid even if you are fixing the skylight, that does not affect me if the client refuse to pay the balance, you still pay me up to that point of what you have received. I have yet to get a response from him. I would NEVER recommend Grisa Construction to anyone!!! He is not trustworthy nor honest from the beginning especially by passing his job on to someone else without my knowledge. He is not a man of his word and keeping my commission he stole from me. I make my living from commissions and what Dan Grisa did to me was thievery! Very sad and disappointed in a mans word, or lack of!! Good luck if you hire this company!!! read more

I agree with the previous poster, with whom I partnered in remodeling a house in Palm Springs. It was a very large job (over 100K) and Dan Grisa told us he had the experience and ability to get it done. Although things started off OK, we experienced many disappointments throughout the process. As examples: 1. Dan Grisa initially installed an enormous, ugly AC duct on the roof, which an independent HVAC guy told us would not work - basically the duct would heat up the air before it ever got to the far bedroom. 2. Dan Grisa also tried mightily to steer us towards a tile floor, when we were set on polishing the concrete - then when we hired another subcontractor, Dan Grisa constantly complained about having to coordinate his work with him, all this despite Dan being under contract for over 100K of work. If you are thinking about working with Dan Grisa, keep looking! He has a decent bedside manner, at least initially, but his work is mediocre at best. read more

Grisa Construction and Remodeling is first and foremost one of the most professional contractors I have ever worked with. This is saying a lot due to the fact that I am a Realtor, and deal with contractors on a regular basis. Dan really was one of the most efficient and skilled contractors I have ever worked with. Dan (he's the owner and GC) and I met on a job site of a home that I was getting ready to list and he was finishing up some remodeling work that he was hired by the homeowner to complete. His work was dialed in and spot on, so I got his information and started referring him out to my other clients who were either purchasing a home, or just wanted general remodeling work done (like kitchen or bath), or to sellers that might get a little more bang-for-their-buck by doing upgrades before their house hits the market. Dan and his crew are very efficient and will do damn near anything from a small painting job to a complete renovation. I will forever call on his services for everything, because he has proved time and time again to be RELIABLE! My experience has been that by referring him/them out to my clients, they've made me look good in the process! Always, I said that, never, would I build a house. Then, total fire loss. My first GC & I parted ways. Panic at the thought of proceeding with the nightmare of finding another. Dan Grisa is a blessing. A GC can fulfill you--- or destroy you. I knew he would exceed my expectations. What I didn't know--- my expectations have been exceeded exponentially. Every item. Every detail. What other GC's mother would visit at the final walk-through--- pride & love. His suggestions are always 100% on target--- without the deafening, chilling ka-ching. Every team member can't do enough for you--- they love their trade. On move-in day, unannounced, project manager was there in the wee hours when we arrived, fielded every phone call throughout the day, &, then, arrived at day's end for the helpful hours. Dan came out on the Holiday, the following day, to make a few comfort adjustments. When I awoke the initial morning, I silently wished we could build another, beginning right then. Grisa Enterprises has done work for me several times over the past year. I finally decided to take the time to write a review because of the excellent service they have provided time and time again. I recently noticed a leak in my home on a Sunday night and called them Monday 7am. They were at my home by 9am and immediately went to work and located the leak within a short time. They quickly stopped the leak and began demo & repairs. They also worked with my insurance company which wasn't an easy task. Grisa Enterprises were extremely accommodating with a difficult time frame I had in which the work needed to be completed. Over the last year, they have done handyman work, plumbing and electrical work in a friendly, professional and courteous manner. What an incredibly great job by the entire team!! The project was a challenging one -- an older house that had been very badly abused and neglected for many, many years. Virtually every kind of repair was needed except the foundation. Dan's team did the vast majority of the work while accommodating me (doing some work myself) and a tile guy I hired separately. Given how much there was to do, Dan did a great job of identifying the line items of things that would need to be done right at the beginning. Since I was there most of the time, I could see how diligent the crew was, consistently doing quality work despite the many, many challenges they faced as the project progressed--and a lot can happen with such an old house over a two month period!
