If you hate hand-crafted cocktails created to palatable-perfect; and you hate a small, well-thought-out, rotating menu based on chef-inspiration, prepared with love and attention to detail, then don't patron Grit & Tonic. That is all.

If you're looking for the chicest cocktail bar on the east side of St. Louis, the small town of Lebanon, IL, is where to look. Grit & Tonic just opened up, and they are serving some of the best handcrafted cocktails I have ever tasted. The staff is eager to try new drink recipes, and they really understand the history behind every drink on their menu. Cocktails offered include The Aviation, a traditional Mai Tai, the classic Manhattan, Sazerac, and much more. The quality in the drinks is unmatched. Every time I come here, I forget that I'm not in the city. Aside from drinks, Grit & Tonic has begun serving delicious food. I would have never thought to pickle deviled eggs in beet juice, but it absolutely works. My favorite item on the menu, by far, is the Korean pork tacos. Talani, the owner and mastermind of the kitchen and bar, has made it a point to serve each dish with care. Come to Grit & Tonic if you're looking for more than just a cranberry vodka or a rum and coke. Come to Grit & Tonic if you care about the quality of your drinks. This is truly a magnificent bar, and I'm so happy that the small town of Lebanon can finally enjoy a handcrafted cocktail.

Went here on a whim and decided to give it a shot with no expectations and what a pleasant surprise. Very dark and low keep and quaint. Reminds me of something from prohibition era. The mixed drinks are fantastic. I had a gnt2 (gin and tonic). It was amazing. I'm not even a gin guy but I had to try it after the waitress recommended it. Fantastic mixed drink. We ordered a plate of hipster nachos and they were just as great. The decor inside was very cute. It had a shuffle board too. A very great little place in a cute town. I highly recommend it if you're lookinG for a low key place.

I had the pleasure of having a private birthday party at Grit and Tonic. We had a 20s themed party with about 40 people in attendance. Lisa and Talani were so easy to work with and made the day unforgettable! Talani made the food and everyone had nothing but good things to say about it. Some guests had dietary needs I did not know about ahead of time. Talani whipped up some things on the fly to accommodate their needs! Fyi I'm a sucker for the Korean tacos! Lisa was upfront with the bartenders making the most delicious handcrafted cocktails. She even worked with me to set up a special drink menu for the party ahead of time. I can not recommend this place enough! The venue is magical, the service is outstanding, and the owners are a dream! I highly recommend you stop on by!

Grit and Tonic was amazing!!! The drinks were so good, service was great, and the food was incredible! He had a smoked old fashioned and I had a spicy margarita. We split the pork tacos, deviled eggs, filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and chicken with chorizo, mashed sweet potatoes, and green beans We ended dinner with chocolate espresso martinis. We will definitely be back!!!

Great local bar serving old fashioned speakeasy style drinks. Bar is cozy and well decorated with a 1920's feel and ambience. Staff are friendly and are happy to show off their mixology skills. A neat touch is 1920's era movies playing on the side of the bar. Most unique bar this side of St. Louis! Will come here again.

Hidden Gems in St. Louis -- and darling, the name is not exaggerating…read more I had the absolute pleasure of attending a birthday celebration here and let me tell you... this place is a vibe, a moment, and a whole sparkling experience. The space is intimate, stylish, and perfectly appointed -- the kind of place that feels like you've stumbled into a secret little jewel box in the city. It's cozy in the best possible way, with an atmosphere that invites laughter, celebration, and maybe just a little fabulous mischief. The bartenders? Absolute pros. Warm, welcoming, and clearly masters of their craft. Naturally, I ordered my classic gin and tonic, and it was perfection in a glass -- crisp, balanced, and exactly what a proper G&T should be. I heard from the birthday boy and his wonderful wife that the owners were incredibly accommodating, and you could feel that hospitality throughout the entire evening. Everything felt effortless and welcoming -- the kind of place where people clearly care about creating a great night. And then... the party truly began. We had drag queens serving glamour and joy, music, laughter echoing through the room, and pizza delivered from the birthday boy's favorite local pizza spot that honestly deserves its own standing ovation. If you want to know where that pizza came from, drop a comment -- because it was outrageously good. By the end of the night I couldn't stop thinking: this place really is a Hidden Gem. A perfect little pocket of St. Louis where good drinks, great people, and a bit of fabulous chaos come together. Sparkle-tastic. Gem-tastic. Pure joy. Highly recommend discovering this hidden gem for yourself. -- Big Daddy Tedd Energy

Still in love with Hidden Gems and everything it has to offer! The bar itself is such a fun spot…read more The décor is playful and whimsical, and the dance floor is always a good time. The upstairs lounge is perfect if you want to hang out with friends or just take a break and rest your feet for a bit. I absolutely love that space and how comfy it is. One of the biggest perks of Hidden Gems is their back room, which allows them to host events and fun pop-up experiences. I've been to a few, and most recently attended the "Taylor Swift: Bejeweled" experience. The space was decked out in all things Taylor, with every era clearly represented. Giant friendship bracelets hung from the ceilings and lined the walls, which was such a fun touch. And of course, there were plenty of photo ops with my close personal bff, Taylor herself! The drink menu was themed to match the eras, with tons of creative options. My friends and I tried several cocktails, along with a few NA options as well. I really appreciate that they offer non-alcoholic drinks as I've been cutting back on alcohol over the past few months, and it's nice to still have fun choices that actually taste good! The Mirrorball was easily my favorite drink of the night. It tasted just like an orange creamsicle and was served in a disco ball...so good and so fun. My last drink of the night was "So Long London," which was almost like a dessert in a glass. Highly recommend ending your night with that one!
