Their patio is fantastic when the weather is nice and creates a charming, upscale atmosphere. That said, the interior is just as inviting, with a romantic and moody ambiance that makes for a great evening out. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Our server, was friendly, knowledgeable, and offered great recommendations throughout the meal. You can tell the owner and chef take pride in creating a memorable dining experience. We started with the garlic herb fries, which were packed with flavor and absolutely delicious. I also ordered the classic Caesar salad, and it was authentic, fresh, and perfectly executed. For my entrée, I chose the strip steak, and it was outstanding--easily one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. The cook was flawless, the flavor was incredible, and every bite showcased the chef's attention to detail. Overall, this was a 10/10 dining experience, and I can't wait to return.

The parking lot had spaces available. We walked in and there was an event space on the right and a large sofa and chairs against the back wall. Signs indicated where to go for Bellwether so we went around the windows showing the climbing wall to the elevator. Upstairs we were greeted promptly and asked if we wanted to sit inside or out. We opted for inside and she led us down one level to the second floor. I think the building is really cool, and the restaurant is well appointed, exposed brick, cool lantern hanging lamps, bookshelves filled with books and odds and ends, Waitress was friendly, there were only a couple of tables on the floor, but she wasn't intrusive and let us take out time. It filled up more by the time we left. The menu had several things I wanted to order but ended up deciding on the breakfast fried rice. We also ordered the cinnamon roll for the table. Coffee was hot and kept refilled, but it was just ok. The cinnamon roll was tasty. The fried rice was great and the fried egg on top was well cooked and tasty. One of our party ordered a side of sausage, it was four links and they were good, another ordered the pork belly sandwich and that was one of my other choices, I tried it and was impressed! I thought it would be too sweet, but it was perfect. Viewing the pictures of dinner, can't wait to go back for that and sitting outside!

This included a 4-course meal and a glass of wine. We arrived around 6:50pm to find many other couples standing, waiting to be sat down. We checked in and were told to stand and wait. Around 7:30 pm, several other couples became impatient and were told they may sit at the bar. At this point, many 7:30pm seating time couples had arrived. At 7:45 pm, I watched 2 couples from the bar get seated at tables. I had watched them arrive to the rooftop off the elevator after my husband and I, so I spoke to one of the servers expressing our desire to be seated given it was now almost an hour past our seating time and that couples who had arrived after us were already being seated. To their credit, they sat us quickly, but it continued to go downhill from here. We waited 15 minutes for water, which we only got when we flagged down a server. Our food came out relatively quickly. During our first course, I asked for napkins (every other table had red fabric napkins) and our server brought us like 20 paper cocktail napkins, not ideal for a nice dinner. Our entrees eventually came, although the server brought out two of the cod entrees. My husband ordered steak. He brought my husband's steak, which he ordered medium, however when he cut in it was obviously rare. It was sent back. The next steak was also rare. We spoke with who appeared to be running the event and he stated he agreed it was rare (bleeding on the plate.) Finally on the third try, we received a medium rare steak, not as ordered, but close enough and at this point we wanted out of there as it was past 10 pm. Mind you, at this point we could feel the anger and frustration radiating from all of the 8/8:30 pm seating people who were still waiting on tables. We left quickly when our meal was done. We had one refill of water the entire 2hrs we were eating our meal. We were not asked if we wanted anything else to drink. This was a small event, maybe 15 tables. I'm not sure if it was overbooked, underpowered, or if they simply were just unprepared, but I've never had such a poor experience at a restaurant.

My friends and I ordered the potstickers, arancini, and elevated fries along with some drinks. The arancini are my absolute favorite and it's the perfect amount to share (or hoard!). The fries were good but a tad dry and should come with some of their delicious aioli on the side. Luckily our server was kind enough to bring us out some when we asked. The potstickers were solid and I really enjoyed both the Side Car & Espresso Martini and would order them again. My only complaint, and why I knocked a star, is that I was overcharged - and this is not the first time it's happened here. Handing you the machine with only your total displayed with the expectation of immediately tapping your card and tipping doesn't give you the opportunity to review your bill at all. I didnt bring the overcharge to my server's attention because she was busy and there were 5 of us checking out at once. Maybe I'm old school but would love to have a ticket to review my charges before swiping to pay.

The place is located atop 111 West Port plaza which is an office building with numerous tenants. There were 2 people by the elevator asking us about tickets. They had some sort of a dance party and there was a cover charge of $30 per person just to go up. Yikes! I panicked because I didn't have a backup plan so we just paid the cover. Mind you, it's a Sunday at 5pm. Weird time to have a dance party but sure enough, it was there with a few people dancing in one corner of a vast room. Since it's open seating, I chose the farthest table away for the dancing and the view. The music was so loud, the vibe was kind of clubby, not my thing but had to eat before the concert. My sister-in-law and I ordered an aperol spritz. Kudos to the bartender as our spritz were delicious! We were somewhat screaming at each other trying to have a conversation. The whole thing felt quite awkward but we did enjoy people watching. I enjoy 360 downtown and was hoping for the same type of vibe but they're definitely not the same... at least not at this time of day. About the food: I ordered a flatbread topped with prosciutto, burrata, arugula, basil, and drizzled with balsamic reduction. My sister-in-law got the salmon with lentils. Her food looked really good. My flatbread toppings were an excellent flavor combination and filled me up without being too heavy. Also a perfect amount of drizzling on the balsamic reduction. Our waitress (Hailey) was wonderful. She checked on us every so often. We had one more round of spritz before we headed out. Aside from the loud music and the surprisingly outrageous cover charge to go up here and eat, I think the food and the service were actually up to par with my expectations. If we weren't under time constraints I would have passed that night but I'm glad we came and had good food.

To get to the Maryland House you start out in a courtyard and then take an elevator (or stairs) to the top of the building. It is a fun, almost speakeasy type entrance. Maryland House has an indoor area and then a relatively large outdoor space. The crowd has had a lot of energy and a good vibe every time I've been. Overall it tends to be crowded. There is a food menu, but I will be honest I've only ever come later at night. The drink selection is very good although when it is very crowded it can be hard to order. The last time I was at Maryland House was after my sister-in-law's wedding. They had actually paid to reserve space. When we got there though, nothing was set aside. It was pretty frustrating. After about 30 minutes they opened up a side room for us. It was late though, and that kind of took the wind out of the sales. I'm not sure what happened there, and it was kind of a dud way to end the night.

The inside is dark and dimly lit which sets a nice mood. The vibe is a cool mix of modern, classy, and a little grungy all at once and it really well. I walked by a private area that had a wedding shower going on, so they have good event space too. We were seated on the patio area which is covered with shade, so it was comfortable and still felt like part of the whole atmosphere. The cocktail menu is so fun, they all have hilarious names and I love that. We ordered a bunch to share around the table. The toasted marshmallow cocktail is an absolute must. So good. For food we got a bunch of shareables. The charcuterie platter is great for a big group, easy to grab as you please. The salmon dish was so yummy and the flatbread was simple but really solid. Our waitress was sweet and friendly throughout the whole night. I also heard they do events here pretty regularly, like weekly or monthly, and I really want to come back for one of those. Definitely a spot I'll be returning to!

We wrapped up our informal wander through the fabulous Delmar Loop and drifted up here for a final drink, a skyline check and that signature rotating oversized Moon glowing over the building. By pure luck, it was a full moon over Saint Louis too which felt a little on the nose in the best possible way. The rooftop is solid, a clear arc of the city that makes you slow down to appreciate the view. The space itself is exactly what you want at the end of the night. Open, relaxed and elevated enough to feel like a finale without trying too hard. The music was much louder than I'd prefer and not an artist I'd ever queue up for a mellow nightcap and it did sort of get in the way of the vibe. The kitchen had already closed, which killed the idea of a final nibble with our round of drinks. The bartender did offer the workaround of having DoorDash delivered to the bar but we weren't going to hang around that long. The Old Fashioned he put together was excellent, balanced and smooth. Just what I needed as my Fitbit clocked over 10k steps. As a final stop on a Loop night, the Moonrise works beautifully. You get the view of downtown Saint Louis in the distance, the atmosphere, the giant Moon doing its thing and a comfortable landing spot before calling it a night. I even got to watch my Royals (that's right STL, my ROYALS) win game 6 of the World Series in resounding fashion up on the rooftop here. Good times. A dozen or so years later, feeling nostalgic, and having struck out on some downtown STL hotels, I opted to come back here. Unlike my Royals, this place has still got it. Friendly staff upon check-in, and they let me know they don't have valet which I was honestly relieved about. When I'm traveling solo, I sort of just want access to my car, not to have to wait 15 minutes to go to the trouble of retrieving a phone charger out of my console. There is a little lot in the back that they'll check if you're a guest before allowing you in during busy periods. The room was nice, and the elevators are quick. The shower pressure is WAY better than I remember, at least it was on the third floor. The bed was insanely comfortable, and really, no complaints. The one issue was the little room couch was filthy in my room, with visible stains and grossness.. I just avoided it during my stay. The rest of the room was clean. No hotel gym that I noticed, but not far from Forest Park if you want to jog or walk (beware the insane STL drivers). I also took my takeout dinner to the rooftop which was nice, but not yet open for the season. I still appreciate them letting me up there for some fresh air and views. Lastly, the Delmar Loop has quite a bit! This area offers good coffee shops, a store, tons of quality restaurants, and all within walking distance. Nice place overall, and definitely in my consideration every time I come to STL.

The Commonwealth restaurant was inconsistent at best. Service ranged from slow to nonexistent, and the food didn't quite live up to expectations. I also experienced an issue with housekeeping not locking my door after servicing the room, which was concerning.
