I absolutely love this place!! I meant to go on my days off, but honestly, I find myself NEEDING to go after a long work day to get a boost of energy and "dance" it out. You feel so good when you're done, and awesome lights and music adds to the coolness of this place. After each class you get a cold-eucalyptus-towel-of-accomplishment and there's a free purified water station (tastes great!) - what's not to love!? I started attending the cycling classes at 24 hour fitness with Lindsey and was instantly hooked. She mentioned grit cycle in long beach so I decided to try it out. The first class was complimentary and included shoe rental. Every seat is numbered and you download the app to secure your spot. The front staff was so friendly and patient. They showed me around and help me set up my bike. They also helped me clip on the cycling shoes as it was my first time. The saddle room has an awesome layout and the best part is the loud music and dim lights. There is a towel at every bike and the bikes are always clean. I've taken classes with Lindsey and Kelly C. and they really challenge me and make me get the best out of my workout! Overall experience is awesome and recommend this to everyone. This place is magic. MAGIC. I survived a traumatic experience last year and I tried everything from running to hot yoga to 'release' all that my mind and body needed to release. My first class was with Chelsey, and like I said: MAGIC. She had no idea of my background and it was like she knew exactly what to say throughout the entire class - like it was all meant for me. It wasn't, but that's how this place makes you feel! I've taken around 13 or so classes and every instructor has been awesome and has never made me feel like I don't belong even when I'm slacking on the crazy fast parts of the class. Front desk staff is so friendly and welcoming (Jill, you're amazing!)...I really cannot think of one bad thing about this place!! I promise, I tried...I got nothing! The classes/instructors push you as far as you want to push yourself. The instructors remind you that you came for a reason - "What is that reason?" They each have their own inspirational speech that never sounds corny and really makes you dig down deep and remind yourself that you ARE there for a reason - push through and get the most out of your class, dang it! You feel 'worth it'. Every. Single. Time. My favorite part is the last song or two. Most instructors turn the lights low and let you do whatever you want to do - whether it be a sprint or a climb. I usually take that time to climb and think about what I've been through and where I am now. I feel so strong and so proud of myself. I feel lucky to be sweating my butt off in that class at that moment. My brain 'feels' free. All is right in the world during that time. I've almost teared up a time or two. I LOVE Gritcycle!! Nice location and nice facility, plenty of parking. I personally enjoy the early morning classes but I have done night classes as well. My favorite instructor is Kelly Curtis, she is awesome! But I'm sure that any instructor will give you a great workout. It's easy to follow and the music is great. You can go at your own pace and don't feel intimidated when/if you can't keep up. They have shoes to rent for $2. They also have lockers for you to use for free. They provide dry towels and a wet towel at the end of your work out. Front desk staff is always very nice. I'm hooked! read more

I have finally found my sweaty happy place! Gritcycle Long Beach is amazing. The front desk staff is always helpful, cheerful and knowledgeable. My first class I walked in not knowing a single thing about cycling shoes, how to clip in and out or the correct way to adjust my bike. The staff was more than happy to help and get my dialed in. Lockers, hair ties, ear plugs and shoes are all available for use. The facility is super clean! The class: Reina is my Girl! Music is on point, heartrate is up and sweat is dripping! I hate working out but I have to say I love spin. It's a super high energy class that you can take at your own pace. Your first class is free including your first shoe rental (afterwards it's only $2/class). All the employees working there are super sweet and will help you adjust your bike and get you all set up before class. The music (EDM to pop to old school hip hop) is what makes this work out different along with the work out and lighting that are choreographed to the beat of the music. I love the cold towels that they give out cool off with along with clean restrooms with showers and all bathroom amenities you might need. I first heard about GritCycle from Lindsey. She was my instructor at 24 hour fitness. She mentioned there was a complementary class for new riders. I downloaded the app and decided to give the complementary class a try. The studio in Long Beach is brand new, clean, and organized. The staff was helpful and offered to help me set up my bike. Shoes are available to rent and there are free lockers to store your belongings. I like that they have water available but the hallway adjacent to the lockers is extremely narrow and it was a little uncomfortable getting ready for the class. Other than that the classes have been awesome. The workouts are high intensity and love the music. They have a variety of class availability and you can reserve your spot before hand so you don't have to struggle in finding a bike. After the class they provide a cold towel to cool off. Which feels great after such a hard workout! I wish I was able to afford their membership because it is so worth it! They have specials so I've been taking advantage of that! My first cycle class EVER was with Lindsey and I was scared... My first thought was "I'm not going to be able to do this. What am I thinking?!" at the end of the class I was like "when's the next class?!?!" Since then anytime I can get into one of Lindsey's classes I'm in! Lindsey has such a great attitude, energy and motivation! The classes are AMAZING and FUN! The music selection is great and gets you going! For me, it is easy to follow Lindsey as the music/beats goes with the moves and then Lindsey does remind what foot you should be on! (That's the biggest help for me lol) I could be having a terrible day but once the music starts I'm going! At the end of classes I'm always feeling pumped and happy! I may find myself doing push-taps after class on the way home! Haha I highly recommend Lindsey to anyone who is considering trying a class! I've been to the Costa Mesa and monarch beach grit cycle but this was my first time at this location! I love that there's ample parking and it's by 365 Whole Foods! I took Andrew's class and he just had a great energy. There's plenty of lockers and there were 2 showers at least for women. The shower that I was in had 2 shower heads! One regular one and a handheld one! There were also razors, tampons, shaving cream, hair ties, mints, earbuds, dry shampoo, pretty much anything you needed it was there! I've been to other studios where there's screens to show people where they rank. It can be disheartening if you try your best and still are at the bottom of the class. not so at this studio! If you're looking for a high energy, full body, and quick workout, GritCycle is perfect. They offer complimentary spin shoes your first class & $2 thereafter. Each instructor will turn the lights on/off to the beat of the music and have you do "choreo" along with it. My first class I felt like it was spin with a mixture of push ups. It's honestly really intimidating at first because everyone who's already taken classes know all of the movements while you're trying to figure it out. I highly recommend going at least 3 times. I never thought of myself as someone who enjoys spin but GritCycle changed my life. You can do the class at your own pace and you'll definitely push yourself! I've taken 5 classes and have had 4 different instructors. If you're new, I highly recommend Kelly C's class. She breaks down the instructions if your new and mixes up the pace. She typically plays Hip Hop. If you're into EDM, Lindsey is also a great instructor. She's has medium pace throughout the whole class & is also great for beginners. I would say the toughest instructor I've had so far is Reina. Hers is definitely fast paced and plays a mixture of hip hop and EDM. I've also had Jaclyn who was a sub from the HB location and I loved her! She's motivational, interactive, and also mixes up her pace. If you're in the HB location, I'd recommend taking one of her classes as well. One of the cons is that they can run out of your shoe size pretty quickly so I recommend coming in with athletic shoes. They also don't have too much space for a changing room so if you can come in your clothes, do it. And they provide a cool eucalyptus towel at the end. You can't beat that. read more
