grit!!!! you are a VIBE!!! i got into a class from participating in the long beach strong beach annual 2 day fitness event. grit cycle was hosting a comp ride sunday. i signed up at the gritcycle booth with marina, she was so sweet. i told her i do spin and she locked me up with a bike in the front lol and with my normal bike number #signs . the instructor, Alijah ... uhm .. your energy is enchanting and addicting. that class was tough, idk how she has the energy and drive but kudos bc that class was fire and i came back the next wk for another lol. that 45m class went by so quick, the energy was so high that after class you just feel like you can accomplish anything! love the spin community they have built. everyone there were so friendly and welcoming. your first class is free! lockers, bathrooms and water refill station are all avail inside. plus they have a beautiful balcony of the marina!! parking: parking garage with 90m free. grit cycle is located on 2nd level by bungalow! read more

Truly love GritCycle! I have dabbled with spin classes on and off for 10 years, and I've come to realize what makes a great class is energy, positivity, no pressure, good vibes, great tunes- grit at 2nd and pch has all!! I have been taking Reina's classes- she is such an incredible instructor. Super positive, kind, motivating, fun, and genuine! If you are a first timer, try to take Reina's class! I also love that they provide ear plugs. It does get a bit loud in there, and I love that there is the option to protect ear health as well (you can def still hear the music with them in!). My favorite part is the end with the eucalyptus towels. Everyone is so kind. Highly recommend!! read more

I have been cycling for almost 15 years and I Love this place. Finally found a cycling studio just like cycle house in weho and Ride in piedmont Oakland. The coaches here such as Reina , Sammy and Alijah are awesome and motivating. They all push us to better and stronger!I'm literally dripping when I get off my bike and shed 3 lbs of water easily in one class. I just wish the instructors would go around more and correct people's form because I see a lot of people struggling with their form. I would also love it if they call out people off the beat so they can correct themselves and ride with the beat and the crowd. It helps us , who are advance, stay focused, motivated and inspired. Again these are just suggestions that I'm sure people would love. Nichelle from cycle house and Jeremy from ride did that to us and we just became stronger and better. I had only ever been to the Costa Mesa location prior to my visit today, so I was lost and late having no idea how to get to the studio. It's on the 2nd floor of the 2nd&pch plaza btw, so if you drive up the parking ramp by Whole Foods, you should be able to walk right to it... I would've totally understood if they had turned me away or gave me the side eye for having to disrupt class, but Josh was so nice and understanding! Like really really sweet and friendly which made quite a difference in me settling straight in to my ride and feeling better. Thank you. read more

What an experience!! It was my first time ever going to a cycling class and it was actually really fun. Someone came and gave me a little run down on how everything works and helped me clip into the pedals which was so helpful. The class has loud music going with the lights going from dim to pitch black. They provide ear plugs which I recommend getting because the music is blasting. The instructor did a great job keeping it fun and motivating the class. They also provide nice cooling towels following the class. Be prepared to leave super sweaty and with a red face. There's also cubbies and lockers to keep all your belongings. read more

Looking for a fun, upbeat and challenging workout? LOOK NO FURTHER! This place is 10/10 one of my favorite workout activities! The facility is super clean, and when you walk in a fresh aroma hits you. The classes are 45 minutes and the trainers do such an excellent job of keeping it fun and engaging as they coach and encourage you to keep pushing through the rhythms and beats. My favorite part is that you ride in the semi dark with ambient lighting so you can sit down and take breaks as needed. Judgment free zone! The vibe is unbeatable and I always leave feeling inspired and proud. After the workout they give you a fresh damp towel to wipe off that smells like eucalyptus(not sure if that's right but it's so amazing!) Still not sold? I took a class here while I was visiting for vacation. The studio is clean, the staff is nice and helpful. There isn't a full locker room like other cycle studios I've been to but it's fine! I love the back patio with the view of the marina. I'm sure I'll be back for more classes when I am in town again. read more

05/27/23 My first ride! Your first is always free! I hesitated for quite some time to join a class. Intimidated and discouraged from all the posts I've seen on social media. But my sister-friend who is an avid rider told me to just try it out. First ride is free so why not. I signed up on a Wednesday and I was placed on the waitlist. I was secretly hoping that I wouldn't get in the class but come Friday, I got the email that I was in. I got in, so might as well just go. This morning, I dreaded going lol but I went. Walked up 3 flights of stairs at 2nd & PCH to get to the studio, walked in following a group of fit girls, went to the counter and they checked me in. Got my shoes and waited to enter the room. Went in, found my bike. At sign-up, you can pick any available bike that's open and it's by numbers. I didn't know how to adjust my bike, didn't know how to lock in my shoe to the bike. I was a mess lol BUT... the sweetest girl next to me helped me out and I was good to go. It was an awesome experience! I had Pele Ili for my instructor and he is soooo fun!! I'll be back for sure! read more

Grit cycle is located upstairs near the Whole Foods and Chase. Parking is available. Fun class! Love the energy and vibe of the instructor. I took Kelly. She super motivating and fit! The staff is friendly and helpful. They help you get set up on the bike. I recommend to get there 15-20 minutes earlier if this is your first class. So you have enough time to get set up (bike, shoes, weights, etc). Pros + Lockers/storage available. + 2 water refilling stations + clean bathrooms + towels available outside in the cubby and on the bikes. + they provide a cooling towel after the class which is refreshing and smells like eucalyptus + first class is free, which you can sign up on their website. They also provide free rentals on your first ride. After $2 for rentals. Cons - once the class got started, the door kept opening because of late comers which really effects the vibe of the room and the instructors. It's super distracting because the room is dark and then you see this bright light and people trying to get set up on their bike. read more

I am OBSESSED with this Grit Studio! The studio is super clean and inviting. They provide towels, hair ties, tampons, ear plugs, mints, deodorant, face wipes, and cycle shoes (for rental). The staff are all so friendly. The vibes here are so positive, and uplifting, I just love it so much. Every time I come in, I have the best workouts! My favorite instructors are Jaclyn, Chelsea, Lindsey, Reina, Charmaine, and Dani! They play the best music, are so motivating, and push you to be your best. If you go upstairs via the Whole Foods end, it'll be just around the corner on the second floor. -- parking -- parking lot available with 90 first minutes free. This is enough time to get there and do the class, with spare time to do whatever after if needed. -- experience -- my first class here was very good. It was the last class on a Sunday. The class was full, it lasted the entire 45 minutes, and it was high energy the whole time. If you've never done cycling before, be sure to arrive early to get settled and learn the basic stuff like clipping your shoes in and getting the bike ready to your size. The front desk when you check in has a handy map of the room and you can refer to it to find your bike. The room itself has one large mirror wall, ample bikes, and controlled lighting and fans that the instructor manages throughout the class. The bike should have a towel and weights already prepped for you. There's also 2 water bottle caddies. I put my water bottle and soon after starting, my shirt on the other one lol definitely will get sweaty. All bikes require clip on shoes. First shoes are complimentary, but I was told you would need to rent after ($2?) I also appreciate that they had ear buds, air ties, and mints at the front desk. I totally took ear buds and used them during the class. Showers are inside the bathroom area. Women had 2 showers. There's shampoo, conditioner, and body wash among other little helpful items in the bathroom. Towels too. Thanks for a good first experience here! read more

I love GritCycle! A friend of mine told me to come try out a class with her one day and I've been hooked ever since! There's just something so fun about cycling to music under the blue lights. I usually take Sammy's classes. He's so much fun! He sings and even dances during class. Sammy just makes it more like a party than a workout! One of the best parts after class is the cool eucalyptus towel - so refreshing! I usually go to the studio at Long Beach Exchange since it's a little closer to me, but I really like this studio as well! It's spacious, clean, and the front desk staff is always so friendly! They have lockers that you can use for free. There's also so much parking and it's just a short walk to the parking structure. I've never enjoyed a workout more! If you're debating on whether to try it out - just do it! You won't regret it. read more

Lindsey is by far my favorite instructor. If you like EDM, she is your girl. I like raving and Linsey's has the best music of all the classes I've taken across multiple studios. I love when she plays some hard style and I find myself head banging on my bike. I usually book through classpass but I do pay for credits on the GritCycle app if I can't book her through classpass. That's how much I love her classes. Parking is easy but was hard to find at first. Park on second floor of structure next to Whole Foods. Has ticket, but parking is free for first 2 hours (no validation). They have 2 showers at this location, which are clean. They also have towels supplied on the wall. Shampoo/conditioner/body wash is available in shower. There is also a hair dryer. read more

They should advise people to wear the ear plugs. If you aren't wearing ear plugs during these classes you're permanently damaging your ears!!! I work in the music industry and tinnitus is no joke. The quality of the speakers are awful and they blast the music way too loud. The employees and spin instructors are always nice. I also wish they gave the bikes a deep clean more often. read more

As an avid Grit Cycler, this is my favorite location! LBX is a close second, but the showers are bigger here, and you get a fantastic view of the marina after class. I've taken classes with various instructors, including Reina and Lindsey, and they all have a great way of pushing and motivating you to the max. read more

I've been to GritCycle twice: once at the other LB location and most recently at this new location! There's just something that's so exhilarating and motivating about cycling in sync with everyone around you. It made me want to go harder when I saw everyone else putting in their all! Classes have been a mix of bike choreography, sprints, pushups, weights, and more.. all of different speeds and intensities. Both times I attended Sammy's class- he's so much fun and knows just how to get the group to push even more! At times, he even got off his bike to dance or bike alongside the group. I'm usually not a fan of cycling, but when it's in this group setting with a great playlist and lights to match.. I'm down! I've left both sessions super sweaty and feeling amazing. If you're new to this, make sure to get there earlier than the start time! It takes some time to get the shoes, adjust the bike, grab the correct weights, and lock in your shoes. I've made the mistake of arriving without enough time and struggled to set up. It can be extremely dark in there prior to the class starting. read more

I've been taking Danielle's class for the past year and she really pushes you and is super motivational - really gets you in a good headspace and mentality! I'm a grit addict! After becoming a nurse, I had difficulty figuring out a workout routine or finding something physical that I liked. I am grateful that my friend introduced me to grit. I am now able to go workout consistently! I pay monthly roughly 80 dollars for four classes. All the instructors are great and motivating~! read more

They do not use ac and it is so uncomfortable in the room. The bikes are old and have no device to measure your power on the bike. For the same class pack price, you can have a peloton in your living room. read more

I've been going to grit cycle at LBX for the past 2 years. I just recently started attending classes here at this location. This location is better because of one simple thing... the 2nd story back patio overlooking the marina. Love coming out on the patio for a few minutes prior to class. It's so relaxing and an enjoyable place to sit relax center and then take an amazing class from all of the motivating instructors. The classes instructors service and facility are impeccably run and clean. Service for towels and drinks are available as well. Great experience as always no matter which grit cycle I go to. read more

LOVE. One of my favorite places to sweat. I usually take the 7 or 8am class, and it's such a nice way to wake me up. When you walk in you're always greeted with the front desk who tell you what bike you are riding and if you need any shoes, only $2, to rent. Then you go and find your bike, and if you need any help locking in your shoes, one of the staff members comes around to help you out. The bikes are comfortable, and yes they do fit Stanley cups ;) There are fans located around the room as well as LED lights and loud speakers to help hype you up. You will get sweaty, but the cold towel with essential oils makes it 100% worth it. read more

For as many people that I see show up for spin classes, I'm actually a little surprised how little Yelp reviews there are. This place is FANTASTIC, and if you are looking for a GREAT and HYPED spin class, this is it! I've been to other spin classes when I was first searching around to see where I wanted to dedicate myself to, and nothing compares to this place. Maybe it's the instructors I have been blessed enough to take, not sure. Reina is my go to for 90% of my classes (mainly due to my schedule) and I can't be any more pleased. She fully explains everything and she is up there riding with you for the whole thing, which makes me feel like she's right there next to me. She always hypes me up. My other go to is Kaitlin, and man do I wish she did more classes at this location....Thursday's are not enough! Her energy is amazing and her playlists are always fire. For early mornings I love going to Kelly, she can really wake you up and get you on a great start to your day. I'm sure all the instructors are great and I hope to ride with all of them one day. read more

I absolutely love this studio! Out of all the Grit locations, this particular front desk staff is by far my favorite. They've created such a warm and vibrant environment. I 100% recommend riding with Danielle and Tony. Danielle one of the most inspiring and passionate person I've ever known. Her soul has a lot of bruises and scars, yet remains radiant enough to heal mine. She makes this world a little brighter and a little nicer. Tony is encouraging, motivating, and his kindness will always be a part of me wherever I go. Battling a cocaine addiction is one of the hardest things I have ever gone through but when I'm at Grit I'm not just a drug addict -- I'm someone who can surmount any hurdle and climb any mountain. GritCycle has given me the space to find meaning and purpose behind my experiences. I am the best version of myself when I'm in the saddle room. read more

I was so excited to try out Grit but quite honestly, I left disappointed. First off, the customer service is terrible. Literally out of all the (4?) people working there no one smiled. Anyways, it was my first class so I walked up to the counter and the first thing they asked was what bike I was on. Sorry I did not remember. I told them it was my first class. There was no "welcome" or anything- I was quickly told where the lockers and restrooms were and that the doors to the room would open soon and there would be someone to help me set up my bike. Bathrooms were clean, and there's a nice outside area where you can sit and relax with the view of the marina. When the doors opened, I found my bike and luckily I'm a seasoned cycler so I knew how to set up my bike/ I knew what felt right for me but one adjustment I was trying to make was not working no matter how many times I tried and I looked around and didn't see this person that was supposed to help new riders. After a few minutes, a girl with an iPad (checking in people I'm assuming) appeared so I asked her. She fixed the issue and I said thank you and she just walked away. Again, so impersonal. Anyways, the ride itself was cool. I really enjoyed the synchronized blue lights and switching to dark and all. However, about 4 songs in it was getting HOT. (A friend had warned me about them not using the AC.) I tried my best to keep going but at one point I had to hold back because I didn't want to get heat exhaustion or a heat stroke. I didn't want to leave the studio feeling worse than when I came - that's not the point of a workout. All in all, I felt like I sweat more from the heat than from a workout, which I don't prefer. TLDR: staff is not personable and the room is WAY TOO HOT. read more
