However, this year they were unable to follow clear delievry directions, written by their office, and dumped a large pile of mulch on my driveway instead of the backyard as directed. Great! I purchased from them for the first time earlier this month, bought a bunch of pine needles for mulch. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. They are set up to accommodate homeowners and landscapers. Prices are great and Train, who runs the yard, is happy to help you load up. Other landscape places I have been to in the area may have lots of fancy stock, but they are not very friendly, more expensive and seem to think they are the only game in town. I have purchased organic mulch from Grizzly's and been happy with the product BUT I just contracted with Doc to have a stone edging done to the front flower bed of my home. He uses a sub-contractor to do this work and I knew that going into the job. What I did not know was that Boni Landscaping was such a disaster. They came out late in the day and then sat out in the truck for 1.5 hours. At one point, I saw the owner-Boni laying on my neighbor's sidewalk rolling around and talking on his cell. It got worse from there. The only stone working tool he had was a mallet to set the bottom course of the stone. No chisels and hammers to chip off uneven pieces. I saw him repeatedly banging stones on other stones to break them off which damaged the other stones. I had to remind them that the leftover stone was suppose to be left with us. They just dumped it from the wheelbarrow into my back yard- I later had to stack it. Furthermore, they left stone chips in our lawn. I will NEVER get Grizzly's/Boni for a stone job again. Plus I thought for the results I paid too much. Not a happy customer but I will live and learn. read more

Beware! I contracted with owner "Doc" to have old plants removed, weeds removed, porch concrete repaired, 10 new plants put in the ground, mulch delivered and spread. When I asked if he wanted a deposit he said "No, when the job is done and you're satisfied, you can pay." How nice, I thought. Silly me. Who arrived to do the work? Another company...Boni...I had seen their website and reviews and bypassed them. Doc never said the job would be subbed out. 1). They did not remove old plants, did not put any soil or fertilizer in the hole for the new plants. They used a weedwhacker to level the weeds, no actual weeding involved. They spent 10 minutes rushing through a back section the owner forgot to tell them; I understand owner was there initially, for a few minutes. 2). I intervened when I realized what was happening. One person spoke limited English. No old plants were removed until I got there, I stopped them from piling tons of mulch onto the weeds and up against the foundation wall. 3). I told Doc what did/did not happen, that I was not happy. I cancelled the concrete work. He said we could wait to see if the old plants came up. They did and I had to dig up and replant the new ones that were being smothered. 4). I received an invoice very different from the quote: $30-50 for plants (several were not worth $5), plus $30 each to put them in the ground, PLUS a labor charge for the day. I deducted some of the double charges and paid the revised bill after waiting 2 weeks for him to correct it. 5). I called him to come over to see the weeds back up, the old plants growing well, the back section hastily done. I asked why he didn't inform me the job would be subbed out; his non-answer was "I always use them." He didn't dispute anything I said, started making notes, said he'd have to talk to Boni but I'd be billed for additional work. I said I wasn't stupid enough to pay someone who didn't do the job right in the first place and what about his satisfaction promise. He just kept saying "I'm sorry". So save yourself some trouble and look elsewhere, for a real landscaper. .. read more

Called for a quote to Re-Sod a relatively small area by comparison to our 3/4 acre lot. The Quote seemed fair and was broken into three phases of the work coming up with a total cost per Square Foot(SF). The owner visited my home seemed sincere and honest and knowledgeable. Asked then if the area to be Re-Sodded goes beyond the 400 SF estimate /quoted and was told that they would be prepared to do up to 500 SF and charge the same amount per SF as the base quote. I agreed. The work was completed in a timely manner and professionally done and the Sod (Tall Fescue) was appeared in generally reasonably good condition. I was okay with the job they did not except for their inadequate cleanup until the owner sent an Invoice that in no way resembled the original quote. He charged for more sod that was installed ( not much and it wasn't much of a concern at the time) however , he added additional charges that had not been discussed nor had I previously agreed to. Essentially an Up charge of nearly $100 dollars. Perhaps not a big deal for some but it's become more of a manner of fairness, principle and a overt breach of trust. I Tried to contact the owner with my concern and non adherence to our original agreement then providing him with a copy of the original quote that I know he had . At the time of this firsts writing he had not responded. If Grizzley's Landscaping makes this right I might amend this rating. I abhor being taken advantage of and believe if an agreement is made prior to performance , that changing that contract at the time of invoicing may justify , without equivocation , a formal BBB complaint. Second writing: I did have to file the BBB complaint for this business to get them to comply and they did reconcile their billing to properly reflect what was provided to me in their quote. I am neutral on providing a recommendation for the work these folks did . It wasn't perfect but I am satisfied however their administration lacks a degree of credibility at least for what they tried to do to me. I'll increase my rating by an additional star. read more

After agreeing to hire Grizzlys, my entire project was subcontracted to a company I interviewed and decided not to use for irrigation system because they had a bad track record with irrigation system repairs. Now that summer is over, I have lost half of my new plantings and have water pooling in the yard where they installed sod. I was told today by a reputable company that I was ripped off by him and they have to redo the entire project. Grizzlys refused to return to remedy anything. read more

We have used several times over the last ten years and have been really impressed with the friendliness and competence of their staff, the quality of their materials, and their willingness to do a job right. We called Wednesday night, they called first thing Thursday, and Friday we had a new shell driveway before noon. We highly recommend this company for any landscaping needs. read more

We have purchased from Grizzly's 3 times over the past few years and we have had issues with product quality 2 of the 3 times. This last time we called to let them know about the issue and we were basically told oh well. They do not except returns so if you are unhappy with the quality to bad your stuck with it. Terrible customer service. We will never purchase anything from them again. read more

Grizzly's responded promptly to our request for a proposal (as opposed to other Lewes landscapers) and the work done was OUTSTANDING! They re-stoned our driveway after installing timbers to establish a perimeter, cleaned up the flower beds, added mulch and cleaned out a pond/waterfall. Great job and I highly recommend them and plan to use them annually! read more
