The altruist in me wants to scream to the heavens about this place that it is the Big Lots of grocery stores and will always now be my first place to go to shop before anywhere else. The stingy miser in me does not want too many people to know about this place out of worries that if it becomes overrun then there will be nothing left for me. If you live within 20 min of one of them, it would behoove you to check them out. They don't have a huge selection but they have a FASCINATING selection. Very eclectic, but it's often really gourmand things, and because it is all contingent on what they get from close out deals. However, they have REALLY smart purchasers and snag REALLY good stuff! On March 25, 2025 in the afternoon a security guard confronted me - in front of other customers - for using the restroom without his permission. If this is the store policy then they should have signs that clearly state that. There were none. If this is not the store policy then they need to train their staff better and teach them to treat their customers with respect and courtesy. read more

She only responded to me after I greeted her. After ringing up my groceries, I let her know that I have my own bags. she said, "new rule; if you bring your own bags, you must bag your own food". I know this isn't true, but, I didn't complain, I just bagged my stuff and call the manager when I got home. Start with great customer service with the owner!!! I came in bought some butterball turkey meat in the morning, started cooking it in the afternoon and the meat smelled sour not a good smell and the date on it was 12/15/25! I called the store and they put the owner as he says on the phone and he telling me he could only return the one I have not opened smh!! Like I spent money on this meat n it's not my fault the meat was bad! I explain to him that I work at a grocery store and he started getting very high style with me telling me that just because I work at a grocery store does not mean that the rules applied the same and I'm explaining to him that you should return my money back because it's your fault while the meat is spoiled you have workers there that should check their area to make sure that all spoiled meat is out! He then tells me he won't get any credit for the open meat and that it makes him mad for people to compare store rules! Just a waste of time I never want to shop at a place where I cannot do a return, especially when it is not my fault! I just visited this store and was mistreated by one of the managers, he said his name was Jesse. This man not only had an attitude problem, he also lacked management and customer service skills. I asked a cashier if she was open as her light was turned off and she said that she was and turned her light on. There were two people there when I joined the line, when it was my turn another cashier scolded her for not taking people from her line instead of allowing me and the people behind me to get in line. They had a brief exchange and then a "manager" came over and told her again, not to let people "cut", all while I am standing there. First rule of management- don't scold employees in front of customers! As I felt responsible (and by the way I never "cut" anyone), I interjected and said that I had asked her if she was open and that it wasn't my intention to cut or to get her in trouble. He rolled his eyes at me and said "she knows what I am talking about". I asked him not to roll his eyes at me as I was just telling him what happened and he did it again. I told him that he had rolled his eyes again and it was not professional of him. He then proceeded to tell me that he wasn't talking to me. At this point, I couldn't believe what he had just said but I was able to keep my cool which was a great thing. He proceeded to tell me to keep walking and get out the store several times. Second rule of management- manage situations! I can honestly say that I have never been treated that way by anyone. Needless to say, I will not be back and will make sure that I send this to his general manager and corporate office. If I could give them a negative star, I would. Other than this incident, I have been to this store several times as it's close to my job, it's on the smaller side- which I usually like and the items are reasonably priced and usually stocked but their selection is a tad bit limited- due to their size. Niche items such as Braggs seasoning, fresh papaya & jicama, and Artic Zero ice cream that can't be found at a Ralph's/Vons/Food for less (usually available at health food stores or Sprouts which is not in our neighborhood and usually more expensive). Actually, I haf been coming to this store since it opened, and it's not in my neighborhood, but I was trying to put money into the community. I since was unable to walk/stand for a long period of time; therefore, I was limited to only coming when I had assistance. Surprisingly, someone told me that the store now has electric carts, or shall I say cart (1). I was excited to bring my sister, because she wanted to shop at the only Black owned grocery store in the county, or maybe even, the state. Today, I pull up to the store, and they did have an electric cart available, but security said that to use the cart, I must leave my driver's license in order to use. I refused to leave my license with some random person. So, one of the clerks was outside, and she told him that I didn't want to leave my license, so go on, and he walked on off. I went inside the store with my sister, but I decided that if they cannot accommodate me, I will never shop here again, and more importantly, I will stop recommending a store that will not accommodate a disabled person, unless they leave identification. It will save me money NOT to shop here, because I live in a surrounding city; I live near 3 major grocery stores, so my reason for coming here was strictly to help the community. read more

I had to text my boyfriend while I was there to let him know he'd be buying groceries later that week because I got a little crazy with my wine buying. I met the owner, Kia, while I was there and she was super friendly and make some great recommendations. The prices are seriously amazing. They have a great selection. Maybe not the largest you will ever find (it's not like going to BevMo), but what they lack in quantity they make up in quality and price. Their selection changes often, so if you find something that you love, go back ASAP to get more because they may not have it the next time you go by. I don't live anywhere near Compton, so I understand if you think it's a crazy trip, but if you're even remotely in the area it's seriously worth stopping by. You'll be in wine heaven. The produces are fresh. They also sell organic meats, meatless products and selection of other products but at a deep discount. They also have varieties of wine, liquor and beer.
