My family and I decided to give this place a try, so we made the drive all the way from Riverside County to Compton, and I can honestly say we were not disappointed. This is a small, family-owned restaurant with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The food tastes homemade, just like the meals your mamá would make in Jalisco. You can tell that every dish is prepared with care, tradition, and pride. We ordered the tostadas, tortas ahogadas, and tacos duros, and every item was packed with authentic flavor. Unfortunately, we arrived around 3:30 PM and missed out on the pozole because they had already sold out for the day. That alone tells me it's a favorite among their customers, so I highly recommend arriving early if you're hoping to try it. The service was excellent, and despite the restaurant being very busy, the staff remained friendly and attentive. Keep in mind that this is a small family-run establishment, so your food may take a little longer to arrive. However, that's because everything is made fresh to order, and the quality is well worth the wait. Places like this are becoming harder to find. Walked in, saw a customer eating something I haven't seen in all my 35yrs of existence... a tostada de pork pata (cueritos). My mind was blown, I had to try it....it was so bomb and fun to eat. Comes chilled a tostada with a smear of frijoles, lettuce, tomato, slices of pork lomo and queso fresco all comes together. To top it off not 1 but 2 pickled pork patas which I learned where made in house.. it was definitely delicious and unique. Antojitos Los Cuates is a treasure! This little restaurant is nearest to Rosecrans and Long Beach Blvd. It is a small storefront with parking on the street and in the rear. During the Covid19 shutdown, they added outdoor dining in the parking lot. The food is from the city of Guerrrero in Jalisco. They have a small menu, but everything is fantastic. A huge dinner for 6 people was just over $60, and you cannot believe how kind and wonderful they are. DH ordered to sopes and a taco dorado - both were solidly prepared with fresh ingredients and were so delicious. Our LO's sandwich (torta) made with pork loin was similar. But, I encourage you to be a bit more adventurous. If you need to stick on the mild side, I recommend the flautas or the AMAZING pozole. The flautas are three, deep friend corn tortilla and chicken tubes in a uber-mild tomato sauce topped with shredded cabbage, radish, red onion, grated cotija and mayonnaise. I would probably skip the mayonnaise, but the combination was otherwise fantastic and perfect for other LO. The pozole blanco was even more impressive, with deeply flavored broth, lots of tender pork and popped hominy and toppings of shredded cabbage and sliced radish. It was served with limes, tostadas and hot sauce. My personal favorite, and my order, was the enchiladas de mole. Next time, I would order extra sauce, because it is DIVINE! There were four, soft, corn tortillas rolled around shredded chicken in a red-brown mole sauce topped with shredded cabbage, red onions, sliced radish and cotija. I wiped the plate clean of that fantastic sauce. By the end, we were absolutely stuffed. The entire meal was delicious. I highly recommend this little gem. read more
