Many years ago I was hesitant to come here. I'm a planner. I like to review ads and sort through my coupons to meal plan instead of going to the grocery store blindly. I have a budget and I like to stick to it. However a friend insisted I come here 15 years ago. Back than I wasn't impressed but did get a good deal - my husband, met him in isle 2! But sadly it was another 13 years before I ever went back. Frustrated with the ever raising costs of groceries and my hatred (yes, strong word but my feelings are strong) for my local Giant I gave them another shot and am glad I did! Since my first visit many moons ago they became more like a regular grocery store, offering more than just snacks and all the departments (meat, diary, canned, produce, etc) that you would find at your local grocer just on a smaller scale. Unlike the old days they now have bags! No more sorting trying to find a box for your loot! I admit I still don't shop here exclusively for my weekly grocery shopping. I'm still a planner and like to go in with a list and leave with every item on it. While you can't do that here you will knock off a good chunk, especially if you are not partial to a particular brand. I have seen flyers from time to time with their specials but don't think it's something they do on the regular so it is hard to plan. You never know what you'll find till you get there. Where they excel is juice (in both price and selection), cleaners (although not cheaper than Dollar General), snacks, and freezer items. I also think their prices and selection are good on cheeses and dairy products although you need to watch the dates closely. Pet food tends to run more and the selection isn't as great. And while they do have a nice, but small produce selection that looks good in the store I'm disappointed 80% of the time on its freshness when I get it home. Organic brands can also be found here, although not as plentiful as other discount grocers. Meats are also hits or miss, some weeks I find hamburger/chicken priced higher than Giant and not looking so good and other times (like this past week) I hit the jackpot with both freshness, selection, and price. I don't know if they take coupons but it's worth looking into. They do however offer a $3 coupon if you sign up for their emails. Be sure to bring a pen to the store as you add your name and phone # to the bottom of the receipt showing the money you saved and they have drawings to double it. There is a clear box for entries at the window by the exit/entrance. This is not common knowledge and something you have to find out on your own. I've never won but typically save in the $65 range on $100 worth of groceries so I'd love to win me some $130 in free groceries! Also...if you see something your family uses on the regular at a good price, stock up! It might be awhile till you find it again. And who knows, maybe if you're lucky you'll leave with a significant other...like I did!

Not a good store, has a weird smell and fruit is usually bruised, I've been to other grocery outlets and they are much better than this one.

My friend and I had fun touring not only the inside, but several shops that had set up outside the day we came. Plenty of fresh produce, homemade goods, flowers, and fun things to look at. I wish the air control was a little better, coming on such a hot day! We preferred to be outside as it was very stuffy inside. Still a very fun spot to walk around, and a much bigger farmers market than I am used to. We ended up, leaving with several items, and were very happy with our purchases!

If you only visit Lancaster for a few days this is one of the places you have to go. My favorite stands: 1) S. Clyde Weaver has insane specialty sandwiches and is one of my favorite delis. I typically get a large roast beef sandwich with mayo, lettuce, tomato, and the sweet bell peppers. The peppers are my favorite and I always ask for as many as they are legally allowed to give me. Caution: the large subs are ginormous so I usually eat half then save the rest for later. The bread holds up pretty well and doesn't get super soggy, but if you plan to eat it the next day, I would forgo the tomato which can get a bit slippery. 2) Kom Essa features the best breakfast sandwich around. It's greasy, but if that's something you don't mind, this is a must try. 2) Mean Cup is for anything coffee/caffeine related. This might be the best coffee in Lancaster. I practically give all my money to their storefront shop on Harrisburg Pike. 3) Shady Maple is the perfect stop for sweet treats: donuts, whoopie pies, etc. They used to have the best maple bacon long johns (hear me out) but I haven't seen them there for a while. 4) The Candy Stand is nostalgia central for me. Pretty much any type of candy you can think of, you can find there. This was a staple for me when I was younger. 5) Long's Horseradish features the best horseradish you can buy in a gagillion different flavors and variations.

Very clean, good location and plenty of comfortable, outdoor seating. However the prepared foods are really lacking, especially compared to other Whole Foods. No sandwiches at all and sad pizza. However the Greek-style and salad bars are excellent and a decent value. Again, with a caveat: they use sunflower instead of olive oil. Why?? They have their own brand of excellent olive oil, why wouldn't they use that on their dolmas? Such a weird decision. It's not like you need the prepared foods to be shelf stable. Of course it tastes just like sunflower oil instead of olive oil. Sad. Otherwise the dolmas are really good, not dry or rubbery like they can be. Changing out the oil brought the flavor up from a 4 to a 7. The place is pretty small, maybe half the size of a typical grocery store. The alcohol section is tiny and picked through, The freshest breads sold out. Even saw a guy buy out their entire stock of 3 12-packs of farmhouse ale. If the place was bigger then they could have the foot traffic to offer more prepared foods and a larger stock. There's really no deli section, butcher or seafood section. They got rid of their house brand cold press juices which were excellent and priced well compared to the competition. The actual whole foods (cereals and beans) was not stocked for the most desirable stuff like black rice. Maybe 20% out of stock and the other 10% was clearly not stocked in a very long time. They did have buckwheat groats at $5.50/lb though which is fantastic. I think the Greek food and salad bar is the only redeeming quality because it's a good price and was fresh and stocked. Just be sure to poor off the oil and add your own olive oil and it tastes much better that way. If you're careful and observant you can find some good deals and rare products not stocked anywhere else.

You know the ones who are too lazy to return their carts and continue to leave trash all over the place. However, my complaint is why Giant is calling their soup - Italian Wedding soup when in fact it is just some type of sad looking chicken soup with pearl pasta and fake chicken pieces. When I go to buy Italian Wedding soup that is what I expect to get. It is misleading and deceptive and personally I would like an explanation from Giant about the soup and the labeling.

Luckily, I had an event close to Lancaster that allowed me to make this quick stop to check this place out. It's located next to a Disney outlet store, too! Pepperidge Farm is a classic snack staple in many households, and I was really excited to see what offerings and discounts they had. They had gift baskets, bulk items, discounted Goldfish crackers, cookies and more! My favorite area was the freezer section, where they had puff pastry sheets in bulk (at a fairly good discount), frozen soups, lasagnas, and more. If you end up purchasing their Pepperidge Farm reusable bag and bring it back for future purchases, you get 15% off each time (on top of all discounts). There's plenty of good deals here, as I maybe got about 5 boxes of puff pastry sheets and 5 bags of cookies + goldfish for about $35! The staff here are super friendly and show you around, and there's a lot of interesting flavors and even gift baskets for people to check out. As you walk around, you forget that Pepperidge Farm also makes things like stuffing, bread, and other items. Everything is neatly placed, and it's super relaxing to walk around and browse everything. The model toy train is so cute and is a bonus for kids of all ages to watch. It goes around the track at the top of the store and also runs through a track in their sit down restaurant. I will say we decided to eat dinner there and we had the salad bar, and sandwiches. Salad bar had fresh options and delicious soups that tasted homemade. My only disappointment was, Sadly, the eggs in the sandwiches we ordered tasted premade and reheated, not made to order scrambled eggs and they tasted like they could have been powdered? Overall though, it was a nice time. The restaurant is also family friendly and accessible for those with disabilities that may require a wheelchair. The staff seemed friendly and our service was very good. Not a long wait time. Overall it's a wonderful establishment and the market is incredibly loaded to the rafters with goodies sure to please everyone. The Ice cream for dessert was delicious too.
