I've never been a fan of Ollie's on the regular. Too many bad memories of my dad stocking up on strange and expired food from here may have traumatized me, but slowly I find myself coming here more often. Well, maybe not this location as much as the other. What I have learned in my past few visits at both locations as this isn't a bad store, and certainly one to add to my thrift rotation when I'm shopping. Highlights for me are the rug/flooring dept 4 stars for sure: here you'll find bound rugs, unbound carpets, vinyl, outdoor plastic grass, area rugs both large and small, hardwood flooring etc. Much better selection and prices than other area retailers - even better than Walmart for smaller rug purchases. The quality is kinda all over the place - I found a beautiful high end 10 x 14' 100% wool rug for $300 for example, mixed with the run of the mill Walmart area rug variety. I also think their book dept is top notch, as well as toys (in season, more around Christmastime) and hardware if you need a gallon of paint and aren't fussy about color. Lacking is the food and beauty departments, pet care, linens, clothing, etc - more in the 2 star range. Help is almost non existent. The cleanliness could certainly be improved upon at this location more than the other. Things to know: Sign up for the rewards program to get special savings They always offer free coffee, although the area is not clean and the coffee maybe old & cheap Come back often and check both locations if shopping for something specific - while the inventory is similar it's not the same, especially when rugs/carpets are concerned.

We love Ollie's, I always find something I need there! Sometimes the lines are long and my patience run thin but it worth the money savings.

Owners Evita and Solise have created a space that shows appreciation to the culture, while celebrating the stories of people of African diaspora through literature and art. For those who are reading this and are from the DMV area think of Busboy & Poets but with a little twist. So what's the twist you ask? They offer beer and wine through a self-serve tap system. Meaning you receive a wristband that allows you to help yourself to a variety of local beers and wine. Each is charged by the ounce and is charged to your tab at the end of your visit. An added bonus is two of the wines that were available were made in-house; the Concord Jungle and Mizz Education. We enjoyed the Mizz Education which is a sweet and refreshing Moscato so much we ended up taking two bottles home with us. Let me just say this, I've been to my fair share of restaurants for brunch and the food at Concrete Rose hands down is the top 5 best food I've ever had. We tried a variety of options which include the Salmon Avocado Toast, Soul of the Sea and Chicken wings with concord bbq sauce. All were seasoned, cooked and plated to perfection. Whew Lord just thinking about those crab cakes with herbed garlic butter and remoulade sauce has me thinking about taking a road trip to get some more. Ambiance, food and service are all top tier at A Concrete Rose. Do yourself a favor and check them out. There's so much there for you to see and try! I can promise you one thing, you won't be disappointed. Evita and Solise you've outdone yourselves on this one! So proud of what you both have accomplished. Keep shining ladies, the world needs your light!
