We took Groome from Auburn to ATL to catch a flight after a weekend of visiting friends. The driver was very nice, pick up was timely, the price was reasonable, the van was clean and the drive was safe but still efficient. However, caution to any customers of size (larger than 200lbs or taller than 5'6") Their vans are NOT built for larger passengers. The seats are small and the rows are very close together. Our shuttle was packed full and we could hardly move. My legs were numb after being smashed into the back of seat in front of me for the entire 90 minute drive and my partner (who is skinny but very tall) hardly fit in his seat and his legs didn't fit in between the seats and ended up with a bruise on his legs from having to sit on the seatbelt buckle the whole trip. All that to say, keep that in mind when deciding to use them but I would still use them again if needed. read more

VERY BAD AND UNRELIABLE SERVICE!!! Here is the background: I booked two tickets for a trip from Atlanta to Chattanooga on 05/24/2023. On the day, the bus was scheduled to depart at 7:15 AM. My group arrived at the designated spot at 6:50 AM, well ahead of the departure time. However, to our surprise, the bus did not show up until 7:40 AM. During this extended waiting period, I had to urgently use the airport restroom. Unfortunately, while I was inside, the bus arrived and, according to my friend who was still waiting at the spot, the driver refused to wait for us and departed, even though I was merely 3 feet away from the bus, and shouting loudly behind that "I am here!". Later, I called the office to express my frustration and seek a resolution. However, the customer service representative refused to offer any form of refund for the inconvenience caused, saying that the management decided that the bus driver arrived on time and is of no obligation to my loss. I have outlined all the problems in this chaotic process below. These can all be checked by the airport surveillance videos, recorded customer service conversations, and the payment records: 1. The bus did not arrive on time, which clearly violates the rules set forth by the company. It is unjustifiable for anyone to retain customers' payment for a service that was not provided as agreed upon. 2. When I contacted the customer service, I was shocked to hear that the bus supposedly arrived on time and thus bore no responsibility for my loss. Again, how could you outright lie when the surveillance footage can clearly prove the bus was late? Additionally, there are airport staff who were witnesses to the entire incident. 3. There payment system is highly questionable. They request tips during the reservation process. Although I had reservations about making an upfront payment without experiencing the quality of their service, I still decided to tip 20% of the bus fare due to my understanding of the demanding nature of the profession from my previous work experiences with many long-haul drivers internationally. However, the quality of service I received fell far below the minimum expectations. At the very least, they should refund me for the tipping portion of my payment. I have to post my experiences here! I'm so appreciative AU has Groome to provide us with transportation to the airport. The pricing is extremely fair. The majority of the drivers are very nice and all of them have been great/safe drivers. I've been using Groome for at least 6 years. The only thing that bugs me is their cancellation policy. If your flight is delayed or cancelled, they don't refund you or give you a credit if that cancellation is less than 24 hrs before your scheduled van time. That's crazy! Especially with the airline industry having to cancel flights so much lately. I wish Groome would provide a credit for a later van time. You can add yourself to the list at the shuttle pick up instead of booking online to avoid the possibility of a cancel/delay but then you're risking it if there's no seats available. Overall, I love the convenience of Groome and all the trips they've saved my parents/friends from having to drive. read more

We took the May 9, 2023 2:30am shuttle from Fort Collins Harmony pickup to DIA. It was THE WORST experience I've ever had in a bus, and that's considering the bus rides I've had in 3rd world countries. Extremely rough and loud. Rattled like a can of rocks, shook us to the point of brain damage, loud creaking of parts inside the bus. It was like riding in a giant paint mixer that's falling apart. It was torture. I frequently use Groome since I live in Charlotte, NC and my family lives in Auburn, AL. I'm a Flight Attendant so because of my free flights I'm able to visit them often. Groome has been a lifesaver so far. I just took them to ATL today and slept the whole way. The vans are never crowded and they're always punctual. I wish there were a way to have some sort of membership if we use the service often so we could receive a discount, but the $51 one way isn't too bad. Thank you for such a great service. read more

I have been using Groome for years but the "cost of doing business" as an agent described it is coming across as greed. They already charge significantly extra to book a trip with a live person instead of online. The fees to use the service just increased at the beginning of the year. In addition to the increase, now there is an "administrative fee" which is being attached to the bill for no apparent reason. When an employee was asked what it was for, I was told that "Verizon and utility companies charge ten dollars for that so now we are charging because it covers the cost of doing business". I use this very frequently to get to and from ATL for work. The reviews saying it is unreliable are a big stretch. I've probably ridden over 100 times and only had issues on two rides, which to me is very good. Plus I don't have to drive, pay to park, and drag my luggage a mile from the parking lot at ATL. Driver of van 225 definitely needs to work on his patience. Sitting in dead stop traffic on I-85 and the driver wants to lay on the horn for me to move up when traffic hasn't moved 50 ft in an hour. Our experience with Groome, from the moment we exited the terminal in Atlanta, was exceptional! The service was easy to locate. Before we had a chance to figure out which one was ours, the driver in the first Groome van, a jovial gentleman, asked where we were headed, and we told him Auburn. "Number three, right there is your man," he said with a smile, indicating the third van. Already impressed with the service, we headed to our transport, driven by Ralph, and were not disappointed! Ralph was charming, engaging, offered bathroom breaks if anyone needed them and managed traffic with ease, experience, and a level of skill that even a defensive driving/driver safety instructor would have been impressed with! The van was comfortable and clean, and we arrived at our destination a couple of minutes early. I HIGHLY recommend this service, and we will be back! Groome recently started serving Montgomery, AL but does not provide parking at any pickup location. They will not refund your money, only give you a credit to use at a future date which is worthless if you need a place to park your car. I tried to cancel less than 24 hours after the reservation was made for a shuttle that was 2 weeks out but no refund. I would never do business with these people read more

So pleased with Auburn AL's Groome! The drivers are punctual and safe. I love leaving the driving to them and being dropped off at ATL. My sister has had the same experience from Auburn, GA when she goes to ATL. Sometimes our Groome shuttles arrive at the same time and we get a kick out of it! I tip them nicely because I'm so grateful for them!! If I miss my ride due to a late flight arrival I'm usually able to catch the next scheduled ride. And if your flight arrives early sometimes you can catch an earlier Groome. Keep their # handy in case your plans change, call them and they will try to work with you! I appreciate their diligence with arrival and departure times!! People do need to understand Groome has to stay on a schedule to make the whole system work. read more

I have never had good experience with Groome, Auburn. I used to use and enjoy Express 85 before they got bought by Groome. Now I have no choice but to use them. Here are a few things that I had experiences with their services: 1. The vehicle is the regular van. Getting in and out of the 2nd and 3rd row is an exercise. For Express 85 buses, you walk to the seats, Groome's vans you crawl. 2. Most guys/ladies taking my reservation are courteous enough, but not all of them are knowledgeable enough to help. Or, they are not given any authority to help customers, which is even worse. 3. Lack of planning. My most recent experience, the days after graduation or semester end are to be expected by a transportation company, but not for Groome. All they will tell you is the shuttle is over booked and no extra vehicle will be dispatched even though it means they are losing busiesses and reputation. However, they did try to book me to a bus leaving Auburn at 2AM, and gets you to airport more than 5 hours prior to your departure. I would use any other mean traveling from now on, and hope for competitor to show us. In other words, I missed Express 85 so much. read more

Booked daughter on shuttle to get back to Auburn after Thanksgiving. Called to ask questions before booked reservation and should have looked for alternative then! Rude, rude, rude. Booked online and tried to call office several times and ask if can move reservation closer to flight arrival time. Rude, rude, rude. Said "no room" but clearly didn't even look at current bookings/cancellations. Flight ended up being delayed and called to see if she could get on later and rude, rude, rude yet again. Was not willing to problem solve, even say she could TRY to check when she arrived. Just said "no, we are booked through tomorrow at 3pm." Suggestions for your business: On peak travel times, such as college kids traveling back to Auburn after holidays.....CHARTER A BUS! That way, you build loyalty and room for travel unexpected events. AND...work with another shuttle company on peak days so if you can't accommodate you at least can attempt to help problem solve. Likely, they will still try your company another time knowing you were professional and did what you could to help. MOST OF ALL - Hire kind and considerate people to answer phones. I will gladly pay, for the next 4 years, another company that is flexible, accommodating, kind, considerate and has employees that are trained to give excellent customer service. read more

I had a positive experience on a one way AU hotel to atl trip. Booked easily and paid online. The driver was courteous and on time. I arrived early at the airport. Worst Transportation Service on the planet!!!! Made a reservation for pickup at ATL. Confirmation email states "Pick Up Location: International Terminal." Called them to explain what my confirmation email stated and the guy on the other end laughed stating "Are website could use some work." After 2 shuttles, I was told they didn't have anymore room and I'll have to wait. Grabbed an Uber Back to Auburn. Made numerous calls to speak to a manager and every time I was informed that none were available so I left numerous messages. The cowards never returned any of my calls. Groome shuttle gets one star for a new shuttle. Unfortunately the new shuttle cannot accommodate the same size individuals as past shuttles. We were delayed leaving Atlanta as the driver forced smaller people to sit in the back of the shuttle to accommodate two larger individuals. This was despite protests that the people who were previously in the front and moved to the back get car sick in the back. The driver gave no reason beyond "your small" as the reason for the move. Buses have reserved seating for the elderly and disabled. If groome is going to have seating rules, these should be made available on the website so that everyone is fully informed when they purchase their seats. read more

Shuttle is absolute trash recently and I consider myself a long term customer due to a driving disability . Never had these weird problems before coming or going to Atl. I got to the shuttle pickup in Atl just in time (2:30) the shuttle was already loaded up and headed out. However, it was mislabeled the dispatch says it was labeled for Columbus yet the outside receptionist says it was Macon Warner Robins. Regardless, the shuttle was still mislabeled and this was not communicated. Had I known that I would have tried to make obvious efforts to board they were BOTH in front of me. Two of us ended up missing it. I spoke to the reception this was about 2:32 they said they couldn't stop the driver (he was literally still in the crosswalk area but at the end). They told me I would be on the 3:30 shuttle. Not a big deal. I waited till 3:30 got checked in and settled in my seat and the shuttle was already about 10 min late pulling out. Prior to pulling out, me and the other passenger suddenly ended up getting pulled from our seats and asked to leave. They overbooked the shuttle. It was very humiliating and embarrassing to have to be forced to get off . I ended up calling the main number and they told me that even though I was scheduled for 3:30 just in those two minutes another passenger pushed me out of the way. I asked them why didn't someone tell me at 2:32, the time of rebooking?? It doesn't make sense and seems the woman in the Auburn office was reading from a script. The shuttle is just 50 bucks but I'm very upset and angry because I could've just gone home at 2:30 and gotten a ride from my husband. I live 5 min away in Lakewood. I just wanted to get going. I waited at the airport inside on the ground for two whole hours and it's quite hot outside. Interesting to note also that none of the two shuttles ie 3:30 or 4:30 left until EVERY passenger was onboard. I'm still learning how to drive due to a disability but I think waiting two hours on the airport floor is a sign that I need to do every thing in my power to learn how to drive this way I never ever ever have to catch this shuttle again. So I guess everything happens for a reason. If you are a long term customer getting back on the road just keep in mind the quality and professionalism has changed. Shuttle seating was a bit tight, but there were only four passengers on my ride. Arrived ATL on time, and my Delta terminal was first stop. Our driver, Lee, was friendly and helped with my bags. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL I spoke with two representatives to try to get a simple answer to the question "Where does my daughter meet the shuttle at the Atlanta airport?" The first number I called is the number I was told (by the operator when I made the reservation), was "always" available if she has any trouble finding her shuttle since she's coming in late at night. This number had no answer. The second number I called was the corporate number (804) 222-7222 and the representative there was rude and condescending, and had absolutely no information on where she should meet the shuttle, stating (and I'm not making this up) "Maam, this is the corporate number, I have no idea where our shuttle picks up at the airport", and advised me to call the local Auburn number in the morning. Then I noticed that on my receipt there is a different number listed (the receipt THEY sent me). The number on the receipt was (423) 954-1400. The representative I just spoke with at that number was not only rude and whatever the polite term for stupid is, he was a total jerk. He said I was calling the wrong number, and when I told him that this was the number on the receipt THEY sent me, he acted like I was cutting into his day, and was essentially saying I was a moron for calling the number they gave me. Finally said "forget it, I'm never using your shuttle again" and hung up. Sad. They could have made a small fortune from my family. Our daughter is an out-of-state Freshman at Auburn and is planning on at least 4 years of undergrad and then 3 or more years of grad school. Made a reservation to be picked up at the Auburn Hotel to go to Atlanta. While the Express 85 shuttle arrived 15 minutes early at my pick-up spot, the Groome shuttle was 15 minutes late. Twenty-five minutes out from Auburn, the driver received a call from an employee in their office indicating he forgot to pick up someone. Cursing under his breath, the driver carelessly sped back to Auburn. I ended up driving myself to Atlanta and received a refund a couple of months later. My daughter had been traveling for 10 hours through a snowstorm, and landed in Atlanta 5 minutes before her scheduled shuttle departure. She called and told the dispatcher that she was there and was racing to the shuttle. The driver, Billy would not wait and left without her. Inexcusable behavior. The next shuttle was not until 1:30am. She was so exhausted and upset that I had to spend $200 for an Uber to Auburn. Never had a problem with Express 85 before Groome took over. I've used this service several times over the last few years. Rarely do they leave on time but today they didn't leave til an hour after they were supposed to cause the driver spent 45 minutes trying to figure out how to put 10 people on a shuttle with 12 seats. The bus got overbooked, and driver truly couldn't count. Everyone had confirmation emails but the office and the driver were too incompetent to handle it all. I will never use this service again and neither should you. Because of their incompetence I missed my flight and had to pay for a new ticket. If I could give less than 1 Star right now, I would. I have used Groome for 4 years without issue. However today, my plane arrived a little late and I called the Groome office as soon as I was off the plane (9am) to let them know that I would be racing to make the 9:15 shuttle and asked if they could just wait an extra minute and I would be there. I arrived at the shuttle stop at 9:16 to see the shuttle leaving. I called the office and was told tough luck and no refund. Worst service ever. It really sucks that this is really the only option Auburn has because it leaves this business less than motivated to be helpful. read more

Have taken Groome 3 times in the past year. 1. Messed up the scheduling (listed one time in our passenger email confirmations but a completely different time for the driver's schedule). Consequently, several people were left and the driver had to go back. Then we waited an additional 25 minutes at the hotel for late passengers, while the driver went inside and snacked on the continental breakfast. 2. The scheduled driver never showed up so two shuttle groups had to wait an hour for the next bus in 30 degree January weather. When the next driver finally arrived, she was surprised at how many of us there were because apparently the office had never communicated with her about the last driver ditching his passengers. She very apologetically told us she could only take half of us. The other half had to wait an additional hour or more for a shuttle they only had about a 50% chance of being allowed to board, due to the surplus of stranded passengers. 3. The shuttle left early even though I was right across the street and the driver could see me waving. He sped past me and I called the office to see if I could meet him somewhere else. The horrifically rude lady told me to meet him at their office and hung up on me. On way there, she called again and said he'd left. I asked her if I could get on the next shuttle and she snapped "sure" and hung up on me again. So I walked back to my original pickup, waited an hour, only to be told the next bus was full. Waited 2 more hours on the bench and ended up passing out from the heat. The AU hotel staff found me. The only redeeming quality was the grandfatherly gentleman who drove the third bus, who was very gracious in letting me on and routinely asked us if we needed anything. I understand Groome gets most of its profit from being the only airport transport service in the Auburn-Opelika area, so a lot of people deal with their issues for lack of better alternatives. But after this last incident, they're simply not worth it. Ask a friend, take a taxi, hop in someone's truck bed, ride a horse. Just avoid them. read more

I have traveled with Groome many many times and I've never had any real trouble. Their staff and drivers have always been courteous and once when I was the only rider, they even called and waited for me when I was running late. The only issue I had once is when the time on their schedule on their website was different from the time my final itinerary had for my departure from Auburn. This caused me to miss my bus, but they called and I was able to drive to their main station and they came and picked me up from there on the way out. That was inconvenient, but I was grateful they worked to still allow me to catch that shuttle without waiting for the next one. read more

Horrible unprofessional driver. Vans are dirty, hit every bump driver stops to get drink and go to thee bathroom in AM. Had kids with her and talked all the way on the trip taking eyes off road.
