I think Eilene at Groomingdales is much better with dogs than she tends to be with humans because I am pretty sure she prefers dogs! Her manner is direct! She is extremely knowledgeable about grooming and she does ask very pointed questions about what you, as the owner want. She has always done exactly what I ask her to do and my dog always looks great when I pick him up.My dog absolutely loves going there. I am shocked by some the reviews people have written. Eilene is a dedicated dog person (and animal person in general.) I trust her completely with my dog and know that if he were not well treated, he would not be so excited to go there. read more

Took my dog here today for a wash, dry and nail trim. I called to schedule ahead of time and after answering 20 minutes of questions I was able to schedule. She never told me the price even though I asked twice. I dropped off my dog and was surprised when I asked how long it would be she said 2 hours! I've had my dog groomed In half that time at other professional groomers. So we came back 2 hours later and when she brought my dog out she still had a wet dog smell and a yellow tinge to her fur and she charged me $81 which is insane to wash dry and clip my dig nails! I've gotten better service for half the price elsewhere. Then I had to listen to her tell me how to train my dog so she can more easily groom her! Definitely won't be going back and don't recommend anyone else does either! Terrible service for too high of a price! read more

I heard about this place on fb, and had I looked at the yelp reviews I wouldn't have even reached out to her in the first place. I was looking for a local groomer for my larger lgd, and she was very passive aggressive, condescending, rude, and unprofessional to boot. I came to yelp to see if others had similar experiences. After the way she spoke to me, and reading how she treats dogs trusted in her care I will certainly not be bringing my sweet girl here. read more

Skilled, knowledgable, friendly, and priced right. Golden Retrievers might be fairly common, but finding a groomer who understands how to groom this dog properly to breed standard has proven challenging, especially in the Gorge. Owner is a breeder and expert of a similar long-haired dog, and knows what to cut -- and more importantly -- what not to cut. Very happy with results and the service here. I walked in and the owner was washing a black and white spaniel dog. Apparently the dog was not holding still. She did not know i was watching her when she pulled the choke rope high into the air and gave the dog a punch in the ribs. At this point i just walked out. I also whished I had my phone to video the incident. I would encourage no one take thier furry friend to this abusive groomer. read more

I wish I could do negative 10 stars here! I CANNOT even believe this place is in business. I called to make an appointment, got the 5th degree about why I wanted my dog to go there from the owner. I didn't even know how to answer they were so passive aggressive...am I not just getting my dog groomed? I have a Siberian Husky that needed a simple outter coat trim, and a nail trim. She said she'd call me if she had questions. I went to pick up my dog and she was grooming another dog it appeared extremely rough, my daughter and I both thought she shaved some whiskers. I paid first (big mistake) she brought my dog out and my Siberian was completely shaven down to the skin including tail. I wanted to cry and scream at the same time. So unprofessional! Wish there was a zero star option. Worst experience ive ever had at a groomer, ever. The owner was rude from the first call. I got in contact a week prior to bringing my dogs in to ask about appointments, and pricing for a nail grinding. I explained that my dogs didnt like having nails done due to past experience with an injury from nail clippers (not grinding) which is why i wanted the grinding. I even explained that the last independent groomer (single employee/owner operator) i used, took the liberty of using the clippers after i had specifically asked for grinding, because my dog " wouldnt sit still" - and i only found that out after i arrived for pick up. I explained i didnt want that to happen again, and that although i know that small dogs can be dramatic, mine only weigh 5lbs, and when i was living outside the gorge, i had happily used petsmart for years without incident, so she shouldnt have too much trouble as long as she had someone to hold pets while she did the grinding. She then proceeded to tell me that she had raised and showed dogs for years, and that she can "groom dogs nobody else can", etc. She said she didnt take appointments, that i would need to hold my own dog while she did the nail grinding, and that the fee was $12. The day i was going to bring my dogs in, i called to make sure she had time, and asked: "I was wondering if you had any availability around 1:00 today?" She responded with: "maybe...whyyyyyyy?" (I thought that was odd, as she said it in a tone that conveyed suspicion). I explained i was just calling to confirm she had some time for a nail grinding before i made the drive to her shop. She said she would be closing early that day (2:00 instead of 4:00) and that i could bring my dog in at 1:30. I thanked her and arrived just before 1:30. When she finished the pet before mine, she approached me and asked if i wanted to do it in the reception area, or in the grooming area (?) i said the grooming area and she told me she needed to clean first so she did and i walked back. Sure enough my dog began to squirm and cry. I held my dog tighter, and said "hey! Youre ok. relax." The groomer then dramatically dropped both of her hands, tilted her head downward and gazed upward at me sarcastically saying "Do you understand that when you tell your dog that, you are telling them their behavior is "ok", and you are only makIng problems for groomers!" Her words were spoken VERY slowly and in a tone so condescending that i was actually shocked. Not wanting to disrespect my elders, i simply apologized, and explained that usually comforting them, (as opposed to raising my voice or reprimanding) usually helped. She then rolled her eyes, sighed loudly,and proceeded to work. Not for long. 2 claws in, she grabbed the clippers saying "im just gonna clip them." I politely said: " actually, i'd prefer you didnt..." She then rolled her eyes, and uttered another drawn out, condescending, "Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?" I explained again about the previous experience with injury to the nails, and also that clipped nails scratch my floors, and my familys skin when we play with the dogs. The response i got was more eye rolling, and sighing, and the intermittent production of her throwing her hands in the air everytime i needed to reposition my squealing pup (who was probably already frightened just from her energy at this point). After i mentioned he was bleeding, she just continued to be short with me,( explaining that its because of my dog) and scolded me about how i needed to train my dogs better, etc. When that dog was done, she asked if the other one was the same way because she "needed to leave at 5 till 2" I said that the other one was older, so a bit more calm, (which was why i brought the younger one in first.) She said ok, and i brought the other one to the grooming area. Same attitude, and outward expressions of annoyance and irritation. When she was finished, i apologized again, (my dogs really were whining and squirming the whole time) and thanked her very much for her help. I gave her my card and she charged it. When i got the reciept, it was printed on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper with no space to write a in a gratuity. I asked her if there was a place to leave a tip and she said: "I would have had to do that BEFORE i charged your card - i can charge it again if you want?" I said:"please, if you dont mind." - as i always leave tips for services, regardless of whether i am happy with said service. As she ran my card for the second time, i looked more closely at the receipt, only to realize that my total read $30.00, when just a few days prior, she had personally told me the fee would be $24.00 for the 2 dogs ($12.00 each). Upon seeing this, i asked: "oh! Did the price of nail grinding go up?" She replied with:" Noooooooo, - your dogs were difficult, and i ran late, so i charged you $30.00." So refreshing to find a groomer that truly likes dogs! Eilene was knowledgeable and interactive with our dogs, and they came home happy and not mad at me like they usually are after a grooming! She was so patient with explaining different kinds of cuts and tuned into what I wanted for our dogs. She even went as far as to clean out ears which was so nice. Bad attitude exhibited by owner operator. Visited 2 times, she is consistently awful. Her "know it all" attitude and demeanor seemed like we were supposed to be accommodating her even though we were the customer. She does a fine job of grooming but if she does not agree with what you ask for, be prepared to get what you get. Looking for a different provider now. read more
