We cannot thank the staff at Cascade enough for how they treated our 6 month old puppy, Bridget. We are full time RVers from Arizona, so it's difficult to find a good groomer on the road. We hit the jackpot with Amanda, she was absolutely AMAZING! She listened to what we wanted and Bridget turned out beautifully, couldn't ask for a better experience. We also waited the whole time in the lobby, spoke with the friendly front desk, and saw happy dog after happy dog leave daycare with their owners. I took my year old puppy to Teen Woof class and she has made great strides in her behavior. I didn't know how to train a puppy, and the simple techniques they taught us really helped. It's a LOT! This review is only for Yappy Hour - we have not used any other service. The Yappy Hour is a great idea for people to bring their dogs to come play in the large indoor (with outdoor access) on Thursday evenings from 5-7:30. It's $10 and includes a beverage - and if two of you come, then you can buy an additional beverages if you like. There is a staff person there to help with issues that might arise, but really it's well-mannered dogs and their friendly owners just getting together for a nice playtime. It's like a dog park - but inside, with trained staff there (doggy sheriff one person called them). read more

I don't see very many reviews for their cat boarding but we decided to board our cat here after his neutering surgery due to electrical issues in our home and they were absolutely awesome with our baby. They were able to give him his pain medication and I got phone updates on him. I would definitely recommend this place! The cats get to cycle through and have the cat rooms to them selves an hour a day or more to play and relax on the cat tree. They also have bird feeders outside the window for the kitties! Very sad about leaving my pup here. She came home and her paws had pee burns because he kennel had not been cleaned her entire stay. The dog training is ok, but the dog trainers here seem to be very uneducated about dog training in general and can only really help you with the most basic commands sit/stay/recall. The prices are a little expensive for the lack of care unfortunately. Would be happy to change my review if things get cleaned up over here. I just finished the Adult Obedience class, and I have to say the new owners are doing great things since they took over late last year. They're even doing canine physical therapy, and are getting an underwater treadmill to help with that. I hate to give this place only two stars because it is a very nice facility with a very nice staff. However, their pricing structure nickels and dimes you to the max. One night cost us $62 for our 15 lb. dog. The base cost is $29, but that only covers being locked up in a cage 100% of the time (think Humane Society style), with the exception of three (outdoor, but still caged) potty breaks. Because I wanted my dog to be able to play with other dogs, I had to pay an additional $9.95 per 45-minute session. You have the option of aforementioned cage, or "window" or "patio" rooms. I asked the staff to move him to a window room if he didn't seem to be doing well in the cage, which they ended up doing, for an additional fee of course. None of the costs were hidden at drop-off, but considering their facility, it would stand to reason that at least some play would be included. They require you to drop your pet off by noon, which means that if you don't purchase any play sessions, your pooch is caged all day long. I would have rather worn him out myself and dropped him off later, but that option is, you guessed it - available for an additional fee. There are many other overnight facilities that include playtime, and next time I will book him elsewhere. read more

Not going to give 1 star, as my dog was taken care of, but not giving 3 stars either... First time "camper".... I looked at the google reviews for this place and they were very good. The yelp reviews are pretty bad. Unfortunately, I have to side with the yelpers on this one. I took my dog to Cascade for a long weekend while I was out of town. I signed up for the "nickel-and-dollar-extras" because I didn't want my active dog sitting in a cage all day. Seems like play times should be included with boarding, but not the case. EVERYTHING is extra. I told them to give him a full grooming as well. When I picked him up, he was clean and seemed happy, but his front claws weren't trimmed. The girl behind the desk asked if they weren't short enough - I showed them to her - they hadn't touched his claws, which they had already charged me for ($18 to be exact). So the kid that "groomed" him came out and apologized for not saying anything. I had also already included a groomer's tip on my bill. His excuse was that the dog was having to much stress and it took 3 people just to trim his back claws, which is a lie. My tiny fianceé can trim all his claws in 5 minutes. So I kind of laughed and asked them why they are charging me for something they didn't do. They seemed pretty confused. After some insisting from me, they voided my bill and re-charged me correctly, but had I gotten home and noticed the mistake, I'd probably have been on the phone with them. I wish there was some doggy daycare competition in Hood River, then maybe they'd have to pay more attention to what they are stacking against my wallet. read more

We are on our second dog at Cascade (we lost our first dog last year) and they are superb at what they do. They boarded and cared for an old feeble dog when nobody else would, and then after we lost Zook ( a Newfoundland mix) they have helped us raise and train a very active puppy Lucy ( pure bred Newfoundland) when there where no other viable options. Yes they can be expensive but where else can you get this kind of care along with grooming' training and exercise? In the last year we have boarded our dogs there for several months or more and we feel lucky to have such a great place in Hood River. We live part time in Seattle and there is nothing like it there. I had my rescue dog for just a month when I enrolled her in the Basic Obedience taught by Kyler. She is shy and reactive but man, she did a fantastic job of learning everything! Kyler could not approach her though as most people can't right now...she growls and lunges she is just too afraid. I'll work on that. But she can loose leash walk well, sit, down, leave it, shake, look at that and two other engagement exercises and surprisingly she won the award for 'stay,' where I walked away and she just waited. The training really is about training me..haha...I am going to take his next class, the Reactive Rover one. He does a good job and has an intuitive sense of where each dog is at. I have been taking my Rhodesian Ridgeback to CPC for lodging and Yappy Hour since she was a pup. We also took her to Puppy Kindergarten. She loves coming there and we know she will be treated well, get the exercise and socialization she needs and someone with pet health knowledge will be keeping an eye on her. I was disappointed to read a negative comment from a non-customer who complained based on a highway driveby. That person saw the dog runs where the dogs go out to use the bathroom. They aren't stuck out there in pens in the cold. I would never take my dog to a place that did that. read more

The one star is JUST because they do treat their animals with care. Expensive prices though. They try to add expenses to your bill. It's either pay an additional fee for your pup to come out or stay in a cage all day. Also, their grooming abilities (when cutting) aren't good at all. I'd just go if you'd want to bathe your pet. CPC organization is horrible. I had a grooming booked for today that I booked 3 weeks ago and they have no record of it and cannot fit my dog in, I had a similar disorganization experience for a boarding reservation - fortunately I called 3x leading up to that, but they didn't seem to have the paperwork I did all on line, etc. My dog seems to like it there but the disorganization is very frustrating so if you can work around that it is a fine place. read more

Yappy Hour is the BOMB. It is so fun to watch the doggie dynamics. Yappy hour is Thursday's, it is happy hour for pups. And a beer or two for the two legged's of course. They basically have this huge warehouse space that they have turned into a giant doggie playground. There is a section for shy dogs, small dogs and then another for everyone else. From what I hear, during the summer months they open their large grassy area for them to run in as well. We have been a few times now. It really helps with socialization for the dogs. The first couple times our dogs were a little skittish, but now after a few minutes they are running and playing with the rest of the pack. I have only great things to say about Cascade Pet Camp. They treat my Newfoundland, Zed, like he is a member of their family; they are always loving on him and treating him so wonderfully. Even though my Newfie has separation anxiety, he loves being boarded at Pet Camp. It may be pricey, but my dog receives great care--and I just pay for the basics. I have had him groomed and boarded multiple times and it has always been a great experience for Zed and for me. read more

I have to agree with Lisa. We've been taking our dog to Cascade Pet Camp since he was a puppy. Great staff and great facility. I don't question for a second the dedication and expertise of the staff. I do however think pet playtime should be included in the cost. It's hard for my wife and I to justify the costs when similar facilities in Portland cost about the same. Cascade Pet Camp is practically in the middle of nowhere so you'd think their costs are a fraction of a facility in any city. In any event, Pet Camp will still be our go-to boarding choice, but only after every other option has been exhausted. read more

This was our first time here, and the guy who took care of our 14.5 year-old dog seemed nice, but they were way behind schedule on activities - I understand it was Labor Day weekend. There was no report card or feedback automatically provided on how my dog did overnight and in play group. I had to ask for it. Moreover, the office manager was not helpful in addressing their lack of communication regarding their extra charges. When discussing cost on the phone (nice staff) and upon check-in (nice staff), there was only mention of the $29.95 boarding fee and the $10 per service fee. They did not tell me that they were automatically charging me $5.00 for some veterinary warranty program or $4 for med administration, although I would have been fine with paying them had they told me upfront. There should not be any mystery charges, plus they don't post any rates online. It's how the office manager handled the situation at check out that made the experience sour. After almost $60 in charges for one night boarding, I don't feel we got the QUALITY of service I was expecting. I would recommend using a local pet sitter instead. read more

If you left a positive review for Cascade Pet Camp, then I encourage you to attempt to see what is actually going on inside this facility... This is more like a pet jail than a pet camp. The animals here are LUCKY if they get to play outside in the big outdoor play pens. We paid $20 for a half day for my pup to play outside with other dogs, and all he got was a day locked up in a kennel with a single play session lasting less than an hour--and he's not even kennel trained nor does he use a kennel for any reason in our home. In addition to being locked away for most of the day, the Folks running the pet camp refused to let my boyfriend (who was taking my dog there for me since I'm on bed rest due to a recent surgery) tour the facility because they said they "were too busy right now." Never again will any of my pets use this business. read more

If you're like me and take your dog to day care so they get play time with other dogs then you don't want to go here. This is a jail not a day camp, and an expensive one at that. The people were nice, the facility clean, but this is not a warm, fuzzy pet-happy place. It's lock down, which is too bad because they have a great field out back where the dogs could play. I often take my dog to Yappy Hour at Cascade Pet Camp and enjoy it so much. The clean and well-kept play yard is large and spacious and filled with many toys for the dogs to play with. The staff is always friendly and helpful and caring with the dogs. My dog has a great time playing with the toys and other dogs and it's a fun way for his human to socialize with other nice people who love their dogs. I've left my dog for day and overnight care also and know that he's in good hands. Some other reviewers commented on being unhappy at being charged for play-time. Any facility I've ever left my pet at has charged extra for that. The prices aren't inexpensive, but it's a very nice facility. read more

If you care about your pet (don't we all) this is the place for you. I have had three dogs and one cat stay there over the years, and they were always happy to arrive and yet happy when I came to pick them up. Beautiful facility, on the north flank of Mt. Hood, and the staff all genuinely care about the animals. The dogs have a wonderful area to run and play under supervision. I really cannot say enough about the place. You may be able to board your pet in a more bare bones kennel for a bit less, but your pet -- and you -- will rest easier here. read more

What a disappointment and a waste of a morning. We normaly take our dogs to doggie day care in Portland (Sniff Hotel, excellent facility) but we do live in Welches so decided to try Cascade Pet Camp, as it's on the way to where we going for the day. Let me state that I had been very clear that we'd like to bring our 2 dogs for daycare, so they could play while we went golfing in the area. After the 3 initial phone calls (I called from a land line each time but twice the call was dropped and Cascade did not call me back, I had to call them back, maybe this was a hint of things to come...) and the required paper work faxed to Cascade, we get there to only find out our 2 dogs would be separated because of their size difference. We have a 50 lb medium size labradoodle and a 21 lb mix, who is not a "a small dog" by any means. The person at the front desk stated this was because of liability issues but we've never have had to separate our dogs at any other doggie day care. So not sure about that. Also they informed us (when we arrived) that play meant only an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. The rest of the time they would be in a cage. At $25 each dog that seems a lot to pay for them to lay around in a cage. So as you can tell by now we did not have a good experience. We literally turned around, drove back home, wasting a half a tank of gas, our tee time and the dogs were disappointed too! read more

We dropped off our dog recently for 2, day camp sessions. I was really nervous since this is the first time we have ever taken him to a place like this. I told him that he is very aggresive around other dogs . The staff also has you fill out a form giving them an idea about your dogs personality and his or her likes and or dislikes for playtime. The staff made me feel very at comfortable leaving him there. They assured me that he would spend individual time with 1 of the attendents. We were very greatful to have a place that we could feel good about leaving him at while we did some tourist activities in town. We were only originally going to drop him off once , but when we picked him up the 1st day he seemed so happy and well mannered I felt good about about dropping him off again. One of the staff recommended some individual training for him so he could be more social around other dogs . She even emailed me some trainer websites. Thanks to the staff at Cascade Pet Camp for taking wonderful care of Jack. I would totally recommend this place to anyone who wants a A + facility to take there dog to for daycare. Very reasonably priced and quality staff. We would definately come back. read more
