Dental Practice: "Wealthcare not Healthcare." Do not recommend owner J Norton. Had to have my family Dentist fix her work, sloppy, poor communication, & unpleasant, impatient bedside manner. Read the biological dentistry book while waiting and they did not follow the recommendations or procedures as I understood from that book and my research. Very rushed appointments except when they are trying to sell you another expensive service. Saw one other dentist who was adequate but did not have enough time to properly fix the issue even though I had 4 hours of travel invested in the day plus the 8 hours for the prior 2 appointments. I left there saying the apparatus was causing severe pain and their schedule was more important. Lost a good amount of money because they wouldn't take it back and refund me. They are trying to help by taking insurance, but they make up for the lower cost by skimping on the quality and time spent. She also tried to jam too much in one appointment and made a mess in my mouth. Coerced me into a filling in between my teeth that did NOT need to be filled and it bothered me for a long time because she overfilled. Got filling material all over my teeth- front, side, and back and in multiple places. Hygenist was caring and that was an excellent cleaning experience with the warm lavender pillow and helpful information. The place is spa like, but also pretty out of the way in the middle of nowhere, and a pain to get to off the highway. If you are close by, they take your insurance as in network, you have time and money to blow, and select the right dentist this might be worth a try. Start with simple things until you really get to know the dentist is right for you. Travelling a good distance for this place I would not recommend because of their inconsistency in the quality and process of dental and health care as other reviews have pointed out. read more

Is it possible to leave zero stars? I'm very sorry to say that this dental practice is not one you can trust. Very poor communication. And very questionable practice. I was strongly advised to have my mercury fillings removed. I have mercury fillings in all four quadrants. They provided me a list of supplements and treatments that they strongly recommend to offset the toxins of mercury removal. Half the supplements have been discontinued with no substitutes. The only one available was, of course, over $100. They also strongly advise intravenous Vit C and glutathione. I reluctantly opted for the Vit C only to have the "nurse" stick me with an unsterile needle she had left on the seat of her chair. She then pushed it in and out of my arm several times and eventually she decided to remove it. She would not confirm for me that the IV was in fact VIt C. It was already hanging up and covered when I arrived. Who knows if it was used on the patient before me. My arm was in much more pain after she removed the IV. And then she disappeared. The "head clinician" showed up looking very concerned and asked me what happened, so I told her. Then she disappeared. Then Dr. Shah showed up and reassured me that the woman who was setting up my IV was not a rookie and had done this multiple times before. He completely agreed that the way the IV was done for me was totally unacceptable. Yet no explanation for why this time was different. I just couldn't trust them to drill into my teeth at this point, my arm was in so much pain, and I was pretty upset so I left before doing any further dental work. This was supposed to have been removal done to a second quadrant. (For the first quadrant done last week, they were almost two hours late for my scheduled appointment.) My husband was furious when I told him what happened and also concerned that the needle they stuck me with may not have been sterile since it was unwrapped and it seemed like they did not follow proper protocol. (She just removed the cap and then left it on the seat of her chair and walked away.) He tried to call the dental practice to get confirmation that it was sterile, but they said nobody was available to speak with him. I've had many, many, many blood tests and IVs done. Far more than the average person. And this has NEVER happened to me before. I should have known not to trust her when she wouldn't confirm what the bag connected to the IV was or when she didn't seem to have her own routine down, or when at the last second she felt she needed to mark my arm with a pen, and when she handled her needle so carelessly and just didn't seem confident about what she was doing. I was already uneasy going in and now will not be returning to their practice ever again. If you do decide to take the risk and are seduced by their "holistic wellness"marketing, or the pride they take in caring for patients who are anxious about seeing the dentist, I strongly advise you to skip any procedures involving direct entrance into your bloodstream. I had a big molar extracted by Dr. Evans last week. He said that first he wanted me to thank the tooth for all it's years of service, but now it was time to let go. I thought, wow, this is great and up to date with the latest in mind-body research. So in my mind I did what he said, and it helped to relax me and breathe and afterwards the assistant remarked on how well the extraction went. They gave me wonderful herbal, homeopathic, and other holistic healing remedies and I never needed the Vicodin subscription they sent me home with, or any Tylenol, either. Years ago I had a wisdom tooth removed and it was the worst thing I've ever been thru! So this was the complete opposite and I couldn't be more happy with Dr. Evans and the way this procedure went! Also, afterwards, they took me over to the spa to an area with reclining chairs, gave me a pillow and a blanket and I fell asleep for an hour and a half! So great and just what I needed before driving home. So far, everyone I've met here has been very solicitous and friendly. read more

Now he has received no care for over 2 months, they have not replied to us for almost 2 months yet we are still being billed. Beware! I have been to Groton Wellness for facials a couple of times and while the facial itself is nice, the atmosphere is not very relaxing. Recently I went in for their "Spa Retreat" day expecting a relaxing, pampering experience. It was about as far from relaxing as it could be. I was rushed in to the first treatment room as soon as I walked through the door by a less than happy reception person. Then each treatment felt rushed and to seal the stressful ordeal, the lunch that was supposed to be included was so rushed that I didnt even have time to eat half of the salad before they asked me to box it up and move along. It was pretty much a waste of $300. It is really too bad that this spa is so poorly run. The area could really use a nice spa. I guess it's back to Boston for the nice spa's. read more

I can't say enough about Groton Wellness. I have had the privelige of working many years with Dr Evans and Dr Nordin-Evans. I am so impressed with their never ending ambition and dedication and hard work in building a dream come true. Finally a dental team that supports the needs of the whole body. You can call me biased, but Dr. Evans is by far the BEST Dentist in this region and everyone in the office is highly skilled and very professional. In previous yelp complaints, , if running on time is more important to you than a tremendous job then maybe this isn't the place for you. Individualized care requires extra time sometimes. It's amazing how nice and professional the staff is there. The spa is exceptional. Clean, warm, and so peaceful. Each time I've gone in, I leave relaxed and a bit more informed about whole body health. The bistro is a huge surprise. It's hard to believe that a bistro in a wellness center could be so delicious. I had the falafel lunch and loved the homemade sauces that came with it and it. Prices were so great that I thought I'ld try the homemade mayonnaise and fresh eggs. Awesome! The chef there is great. This is a place to be wary of. They talk alot, charge more, and are not really capable of delivering wellness. Think smokescreen. Think what is all the fancy decor hiding? I had to go elsewhere after treatment to get my mouth 'fixed' after the poor quality of work done. What a wonderful experience with Dr. Terrance Shutts. I had to pay full price because Groton was not an approved dentist with Tricare, but I was so happy with the service I didn't mind. The office filed my claim and within a few weeks I received a check from Tricare for two-thirds of what I paid. I trust and highly recommend Dr. Shutts. The bonus is you can schedule a spa day/ massage after your dental treatment. It's the total package. read more

This review is about Groton Dental and Dr. G. Robert Evans, DMD. Be careful of Dr. G. Robert Evans, DMD. He is very forceful when it comes to your teeth. I had 2 fillings done by him. After the procedures, my jaw hurt for days and one of my fillings is still causing me a lot of pain. He is also out to get your money. Since insurance only covers a partial amount, you need to pay for the bulk of it out-of-pocket. That is a small part of the problem. The bigger one is that he will coerce you into a section of your mouth at a time because "it is easier" for him, as he puts it. He does not check to see if you need to have the work done first, before his recommendations. read more

This place is great. The spa is peaceful and calming the second you walk in. All the people in the cafe and at the front desk are helpful and very sweet. I have had a few services here including a facial, acupuncture, massage, and a session with the Heart and Energy Based Psychotherapist. I have been going to Groton Wellness for a while now and I always have a pleasant experience! The people are really welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere is nice. Deb Clark is the only massage therapist I will go to. I have a neck injury that has left me with the necessity to get monthly massages for a better part of 18 years and I have seen MANY massage therapists over the course of those years. When I found Deb, I couldn't believe how great she was!! I followed her from another place to Groton, which means I have to travel to see her. I could easily go down the street from my house, but I would much rather have her. She is just amazing. I always leave there feeling much better than when I walked in!!!! I really can't say enough about her. I recommend her to just about everyone I know! read more

This practice is the best I have seen as far as dentists go. I have seen Dr. Nordine and Dr. Raggi. They are comprehensive and holistic. It was great to know that the stuff they were using was not going to make me sick. Both dentists had given me their cell phones and encouraged me to call if I had any problems. The receptionists are professional and kind. I also got a great Dr. Hauska facial. The spa has excellent products. I can't say enough great things about this practice. I only wish it were in my insurance network and closer to home. It's top-notch. read more

The initial evaluation and treatment plan (for my complex situation) did not impress me. I returned however because I felt that the bio-dentistry they practice is hard to find elsewhere, if at all. When i opted to undergo treatment, Dr. Raggi became "my dentist" at Groton. He is skillful and gentle; has experience with elder patients and never skimps with time to explain intricacies and options. I am also treated elsewhere by a dentist in a MA community clinic. Dr. Raggi and the staff do not object or treat me "secondary". Crowns cost twice as much as elsewhere and MassHealth. I have not regretted however paying more, because the work is good and we are looking at my situation long term: the domino effect of restorations, extractions, bone loss, gum recession, a partial appliance.... I feel Dr. Raggi has the empathy to treat well aging patients. read more

I tried the facial (eh, ok), a 50 minute "relaxing" massage (it was very rough, I had to keep asking for a lighter touch), a session with the herbalist, and a colonic, which was a disaster. Note: If this is your first colonic, only try it for 15-20 minutes TOPS. The suggested 45 minutes is probably too long. Overall, this is a "wellness" center for people with a strong constitution who are already practicing an organic, holistic lifestyle. Things I loved: The front office staff and employees who answer the phone were five stars. I have had providers I've loved that I've struggled to stay with as a result of their office staff's attitude or introduction to the practice. All staff at the desk were more than welcoming and friendly. The ambiance was lovely and spa-like. I appreciated that there was music playing and not a TV in the lobby or room. Having the opportunity to see a more holistic dentist vs. feeling cornered into getting an unnecessary root canal. The diagnosis was reluctant to go to an extreme intervention before trying something easier on my tooth and body. Things I liked: The medical staff were pleasant and nice. The assessment was gentle and minimal. The wait time was only a few minutes within settling into the waiting area. I could get a follow-up appointment for treatment (once initial visit found a solution) within a few days Things I didn't like: The medical staff didn't explain my treatment plan well. I was just told the recommendation and as the doctor left, I inquired further. I felt that my questions were sort of put up with vs. a general interest in me understanding what would be best for my tooth. Once I had some answers, I felt much, much better... ...I realized that the cost of this treatment (as an out-of-pocket payment) was going to be more than I could likely immediately sign up for. I think that's understandable for anyone who has incurred any dental problem and looked at the bill. I tried to ask for a time frame that I should try and resolve the issue and was told I could wait a few days, but to not wait a year. Upon trying to understand what that actually meant, I could tell the aid in my room was noticeably irritated with me as she commented that she'd have to interrupt the doctor to find out. It just felt uncomfortable to me that in paying for a service, and desiring more holistic care, that the provider and medical team weren't really willing to explain more and make me feel like I was able to participate in my care decisions. The time was fast within the appointment, and while I'm glad I wasn't there all day, I would've really, really appreciated more. In the end, my conclusion is that I didn't find this care worth the hour drive after recognizing that my more traditional method of care dentist treated me better as an individual in our appointment and has never made me feel bad for asking questions during our time together. It wasn't worth the bells and whistles to feel less cared for and for twice the price. With that being said, I don't regret going and trying a more biological dental approach as it aligns more with my approach to medical care in general - and in the end, it may have saved me from needing a root canal! read more

Really like the concept and was eager to try it out. Took my kids there. They offered sealants for third teeth and told me it would be covered by our insurance, so we went ahead with the procedure. In hindsight I probably should have checked this myself but figured they knew what was covered since the looked at our eligibility. They have such an impressive package that I didn't think twice. Everything went well at the visit, we visited the cafe and brought lots of the items they were selling within the dental office. About a month later we get a bill for 600.00 indicating that our insurance did not cover the sealants because they were placed an baby teeth. I was surprised and figured I would look further into this to see if the insurance would cover it. In the meantime my wife called to reschedule our next appointments and was treated rudely by the person over the phone and the shakedown began. The receptionist was rude and not listening to her while she was trying to explain that we were checking in with our insurance. My wife was appalled because when you are at the clinic paying top dollar and buying all their goods they treat you like royalty. I loved the concept and the dentist, even purchased private dental insurance based on what they accepted but they really let me down. I called to discuss the bill and they were rude to me so (even though it was inappropriate) I purposely did not pay it right away. I would caution anyone to read the fine print and be prepared to pay top dollar for services you could get at another place for 1/2 the price. read more

Groton Wellness Dentistry broke my heart. I search for a long time looking for a holistic dentist I could depend on, I had such high hopes. I use to travel over a 100 miles for every appointment. Everything started OK and I am a firm beliver in their mercury removal protocols. I went there with a back molar problem, which had a root canal by another dentist. Dr Nordine told me it was NG and it should be removed. She sent me to another dentist at the center and he extracted it in a 2 hour ordeal after Dr Nordine removed the mercury. The young dentist was very caring, and called me after the extraction to make sure I was OK. The following week Dr Nordine evaluated all my teeth and recommended $12K of dental work, not that was required but what would make me healthier, mostly mercury removals. I was concerned about the money, and told her so. I feel she treated me differently from that point on. I agreed to go for a bridge to replace the extracted tooth. Now I was still healing from this major extraction, but she scheduled me the next week for a temporary bridge and mercury removal of the surronding teeth. During this Visit she gave me 6 novacanes and said " I would be numb for a week" She removed the mercury and fitted my temporary bridge. I was in pain, the bridge was to tight and I told her. She said I 'd get use to it. Well I didn't , my jaw hurt like hell when the anestectic wore off. When I called her she said to wait a few days, I did, I couldn't open my mouth, I couldn't eat. When I called back she sent me to her associate who specialized in jaw pain. He told me I had TMJ a serious jaw problem which was caused by overstreching my jaw. He had to stick a long needle in my face to try and relive the pain and make the jaw muscle relax. He also had to cut out the temporary bridge Dr Nordine put in. He also made me get a mouth guard to wear at night. At this point I had spent $3K and had no bridge. The new dentist said he would do the bridge, but reccomended that I go forward with a crown also in the same area. This work proceeded over a period of months. In the end it was only time that made my jaw feel better. I had agreeded to spend $5k on dental work when I stared but in the end had to spend over $10K including $1500 for a temporary bridge that had to be removed through no fault of mine. Through all this pain and suffering Dr Nordine never called me once, to see how I was or to offer any support. I was very hurt by all this as I am A big believer in natural health. Please be careful at the Wellness Center, Its not all you hope for. read more

I have heard great things about Groton Wellness and have been eager to make an appointment! However, I am extremely disappointed with their customer service. You cannot speak to an actual person if you are a 'new client'. All new client calls are routed to an automated voice mail box where you instructed to leave your name and telephone number. Then, when they call you back a week later, you better hope you don't miss the call because you start the process all over again. A merry go round that is disgraceful and not the way to run an customer oriented business. Update March 2015: I am pleased to say that I called again to see if I could get through the phone system and was able to speak to someone immediately. She was able to register me without issue at the time of my call. Three times a charm! I look forward to becoming a patient. read more

I made a mistake of getting braces for my son at Groton Wellness. Not only it's probably more expensive then most places and they don't take any dental insurance but also the orthodontist is available only once a week. We had at least 3 or 4 instances when we needed to see the doctor and either had to wait for 3-5 days or take the poking wire out of my son's mouth by ourselves. I'm also not sure if the tearing wire in your braces is a normal thing. Needless to say that I won't be doing this for my other children. The orthodontist needs to be within a reasonable drive time and available. read more

1.0 star rating 9/26/2016 You should read this before you go here for any medical condition. No stars for this place. I have a couple of chronic conditions that have become pretty significantly life alternating for me. I decided to try alternative treatments with the hopes that I would find some relief and perhaps learn something about my health treatments that I did not know about. I tried the EAV test/treatment on recommendation. First visit had to wait approximately 35 minutes. Cost; very expensive at $300.00, not including any of the suggested treatments, which was approximately another $100.00. You come back in about 6 week for re-testing at the same cost of $300.00 to see if there is any progress made. Each additional test cost the same amount of money. I actually saw the therapist when I arrived for my appointment the second time. She did not acknowledge me nor did the receptionist tell her I was there. The receptionist asked me to have a seat. After approximately 25 minutes I asked if the therapist knew I was here. I was told they would check, but they never came back out to talk with me. After 35 minutes I asked again and again nobody checked back with me. Close to an hour after my appointment time I went back up a third time and was told by the receptionist that the therapist did not respond to any of their pages and that she must be with a patient and that some patients are simply sicker than others. That made me feel real welcome and worthy. My frustration level was at 10 and my sense that this was a money making joke, I did not feel or sense and inkling of any "wellness" and that apparently I was not important enough or maybe sick enough to matter. I left without seeing the therapist. I work in the medical field and I could never, ever make somebody sit an wait that long with no explanation never mind I'm sorry, nor would it ever be allowed. I made two trips to this place 2 and half hours each time. An hour and 15 minutes there and an hour and 15 minutes home. That alone should tell you how desperate and serious I was for finding help. I spent over $400.00 for absolutely nothing. it was like opening a window and throwing out money, not to mention my total disappointment and despair that neither of my conditions were going to be helped by alternative healing. I did receive a phone call from the therapist after the fact. Apparently her previous client had a dentist appointment that ran late so they were late for her. Since It wasn't my fault that the dentist kept her previous patient and I was already there, would you not think she would have taken me in, or at the very least come out and speak with me. The whole experience was a lesson learning negative experience. Never again! read more

I'll try to make this a brief as possible....Our initial consult the Dentist kept us waiting 1 1/2 hours (Jean Evans) should have walked away then. She did apologize and we continued with a treatment plan for my Daughter. Next visit was for a perio cleaning. After that cleaning they offered her a smoothie with the extensive work on her teeth and gums I would have thought warm water and sea salt might be more healing (Duh). Next cleaning didn't go as well as the first but we continued to the next appointment which was for an extraction. Dr. Shutts did the extraction and told her she could call him if anything was wrong. Well......within hours my Daughter was in agony....the pain meds weren't working and she felt terrible. She called the office and instead of speaking with the Dentist ( Organ Grinder) she spoke with the assistant (Monkey). Which for me is a problem !!! No one offered for her to come in to see the Dentist so a couple of days later after she pulled from the extraction site bone, tooth or gauze she ended up going to Gentle Dental. They cleaned the site and gave her antibiotics due to the severe swelling in the area. She said after that object came out that there was less pain but it took time for that inflammation to go down. It was very serious. The lack of concern from Groton Dental Wellness is appalling! Still two weeks out and there is bone or tooth still coming from the extraction site. Its to bad because I loved the idea of Holistic Dentistry but not at the cost of our health. Appearances can be deceiving!!! Had to rate 3 Stars in order to get this to post.....sad. read more

So my story starts here... I have 5yrs clean from bulimia. So my mother and grandmother offered to put up the money to have my teeth fixed, from the damage i caused. Now you have to know this about my mom, she is a completely organic and holistic women. She finds GWC and is soooo excited, we book a consultation and arrive for the day of our appt.. The woman brings us in the room a half hour late and then we wait an extra hour before we see the dentist. Although this would seem like an immediate red flag, we still proceed because my mother believes in the holistic aspect. I have my first cleaning and that went well. On my 2nd cleaning things did not go well. I call them to tell them that the side they just cleaned does not feel like the last time. They tell me someone will call me back. NO ONE DOES! I call them a couple days later giving them time i figured, they again tell me they will rectify the situation and get back to me, but yet again NO ONE CALLS, so by then it is time for my next visit. I am extremely unimpressed at this point but still proceed, because my family is paying. This next visit is now an extraction, when i come to i almost instantly know that this does not feel right. They prescribed me Vicodin, i eat them as prescribed but they were causing me to feel nausea, so i call the office. They wont let me talk to the dentist, nor did he take the time to talk to me. The receptionist calls me back and tells me to take more, which doesn't even make sense. I wait till the am to see how i feel and i am in agony, so i call back the office which treats me very rudely. Long story short a couple days later a piece of gauze comes out of the sight, i call to tell them, and yet again THEY IGNORE THE PROBLEM! So i call gentle dental and have them give me antibiotics and clean the site. STILL NO ONE CALLS, so my mother calls them. I immediately after receive a rude phone call from them. I remained in discomfort for another 2 weeks till, 3 silvers of bone start protruding through my gums. THIS PLACE WAS EXTREMELY INSENSITIVE, ESPECIALLY FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY MY FAMILY WAS SPENDING, THEY ARE NO BETTER THAN ANY BACK ALLEY DENTIST! read more
