OMG, how have we not checked out The Old Mill before?! This place truly has something for everyone!…read more We stopped by today and were blown away by how much is under one roof. Grab BBQ at Quentin's, coffee from Ten & Two, ice cream, or a freshly brewed beer from Outfield Beer Co. Prefer a cocktail? They have you covered there, too! You can browse books and games, check out trading cards, or just find a spot to hang out with plenty of seating both inside and outside. The cocktails at Ten and Two were delicious! They had just came out with their fall menu and the maple old fashion was good. I wish they had used the dark cherry versus the candied cherry but many people don't even eat the cherry so it doesn't matter a lot! My preference! There is even Fuel House, a members-only space with a golf simulator and other amenities. And then head upstairs to Third Story Studios! The third floor has a completely different feel with beautiful, high-end spaces featuring independent hair, nail, spa, and beauty professionals. Whether you are looking for coffee, lunch, a locally brewed beer, cocktails with friends, somewhere to hang out, or simply something different to do, The Old Mill is worth checking out. You could bring a group here and everyone could find something they enjoy. Such a fun hidden gem right in our area. If you have not checked out The Old Mill, add it to your list! 611 W. It's so much fun, it feels like the whole community comes out to experience cars & coffee (duh haha). Ten & Two has some delicious beverage options like their specialty Ten & Two syrup and their iced tea which you can add flavors like peach or really whatever you want to. Lots of flavor options. Get their early on Cars & Coffee days if you want a breakfast burritto because they do run out! They also serve alcohol later in the day but I haven't tried their cocktails for myself.

Full disclosure I came here with a lot of uncertainty. There's a TON of coffee shops in Lawrence…read moreand they all aren't created equal. I took a meeting here and the person I was meeting with gave me a few local options. This was the place I hadn't been yet so I thought I'd go a bit out of my comfort zone and try a new spot. Something I was nervous about from the photos on Yelp was if there would be enough inside seating when I arrived for a meeting. When I pulled up, I was still a bit anxious about this as the front lot was full and I had to pull to the back to park. Once I got out of my car and walked through the cafe to the front to order my anxieties about seating had diminished. It's much larger inside than the outside appears and the photos here on Yelp don't really do the indoors justice. Yes, the outdoor seating is really cute and well shaded so I get why folks focus on it, but if you're like me and wanting to get some work done you'll find a comfortable spot here. Now onto the coffee. As I made my way into the shop I noticed one of my art school professors (we both sort of looked at each other like "do I know you?") and I moved on, but that's a good sign. The art teachers usually know where to snag a decent cup of coffee. When I ordered I tried one of their special drinks and chatted with the baristas about it before I made my choice. Extra points here because not only was the drink really, really good, but the girls working were beyond friendly and answered all of my questions. I'm not lying when I say this was one of the best cups of coffee I've had in Lawrence in some time. I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Everyone seemed so happy to work there and happy to help. I ordered a caramel latte (but the creme brulee sounded fantastic too). It was smooth and delicious. 2nd coffee of the day, but definitely the better of the 2. I want to come back when it's warmer so I can see the waterfall and outdoor area I read about in other reviews!

From the moment you arrive, the warmth and character of the space draw you in--complete with a spacious porch that's perfect for sipping coffee and enjoying the small-town vibe. Inside, you're greeted by a large counter where you can order from a menu posted on the wall or browse through clipboard menus for a closer look. An array of pastries is cutely displayed on the countertop, adding to the inviting feel. I ordered the baked French toast, which came out beautifully presented, topped with fresh mixed fruit and served with syrup on the side. My cappuccino was perfectly crafted, complete with a lovely froth design on top--just the way it should be. The staff, all cheerful and friendly volunteers, truly make the experience even more special. There's plenty of indoor seating ranging from traditional tables to comfy couches and chairs. Cozy nooks throughout the shop make it ideal for chatting with friends or settling in with some work. This is more than just a coffee shop--it's a delightful community space offering great food, delicious drinks, and a memorable, homey atmosphere. A true hidden gem in De Soto.
