Ooooooooooh my gosh, we just found Ashleigh and I'm SO grateful that we did! My 12 1/2 year old tween has been dying for a short/pixie haircut for awhile, and I was nervous to go "just anywhere" because this type of haircut can go south if not done by an experienced professional. We had Ashleigh transformed us for my wedding 9/30/2017. I was going to wait for my pictures from our photographer to post, but I will upload them later. Yes, I was confident in Ashleigh's work that I booked and paid in advance for the four of us. I called around and asked for airbrush but I would get replies that they can accomplish airbrush look with stage makeup; which I was set on airbrush, So glad I did because I was tearing (crying with happy tears) at our ceremony! My maid of honor and bridesmaids where caring too! None had tissue or hanker chief, lmbo!!!! We all dabbed our faces afterwards and our makeup was perfect again. Ashleigh is amazing. Definitely go see her. I've been her client for 5 years, and through many cuts, colors, and even my wedding, I've never been disappointed. In particular, she has a great eye for color, and is always excited to help you try something new! For my wedding she did airbrush makeup and hair and I couldn't have been happier with the results. I don't do much makeup myself, so her advice and expert judgment were really important to getting the look I wanted. More recently, after a year at my job, I finally decided to do unnatural color on my hair again. I sent her some pictures of the Oil Slick look and she was just as excited about it as I was. And it looks amazing! What Ashleigh can do with color is nothing short of art. I never in my wildest dreams could've anticipated just how perfect it is. If you don't do unnatural color, Ashleigh is just as skilled at more traditional looks, which I've also done with her when crazy colors weren't appropriate for me for one reason or another. If you are a bride to be (in Austin) and looking for a good hair artist - Ashleigh is your lady. I coordinate with Ashleigh after hearing great reviews from my friends. She was very responsive and prompt in contacting me. When I got to her salon, she greeted me and was so polite. We had a blast chatting and catching up. I was slightly disappointed that my bangs weren't t cooperating with me that day, but Ashleigh worked on it until I was satisfied :) I had her style my hair in an updo so that I could pull a few pins out and it would become half up and half down. She did such a great job and it stayed exactly in place even after hours of dancing! It never hurt or was too tight. Needed to wait a bit after my cut to yelp it up, bc Ive raved about hair stylists in the past only to come to realize after I washed and styled my hair myself, it wasn't as manageable/gorgeous as originally thought, but 2 weeks after, i can officially say Ashleigh got my approval!! Ashleigh is really cool and sweet, which is oh so necessary when you're stuck in a chair with a person for 2 hours, PLUS she's a great hair stylist! I got a cut and partial blonde hilights (I have strawberry blonde hair) without knowing really what I wanted (plus when Ive had pics in the past, I get all excited that I'm going to look like a certain celebrity, hmmm not realistic but hair stylists never seem to come close, so I've kissed the specific magazine hair style expectations goodbye, but maybe I shouldn't say that yet now that Ive met Ashleigh :) but she knew exactly what I needed. So, yesterday I was venturing through Groupon for something new and fun. I came across a deal for Ashleigh. I called, no answer. Being right around the corner, I stopped in... She had her last appointment of the day open and immediately slated me for 6:45. I will spare you the quippy anecdotes of my clever mind (because yelp is not a blog) by making a few statements that will say what needs to be said. *I am a tough bird who is hard to please ESPECIALLY when it comes to my hair. *I am extraordinarily anxious about new stylists. *I am am persnickety to say the least. Ashleigh was so freaking chill about what I wanted. Our creative visions couldn't have been more different, but she created a style and color that was better suited for me than what I had. She took the time to actually listen to what I wanted, look at my hair, and come up with what would protect the integrity of my hair while still fulfilling what I desired. She was very detail oriented and took her time to make sure that her cut was precise (nothing makes me more mad than a sloppy cut). Last point that I want to mention is that Ashleigh never let the conversation dry up! You know the awkward moment when you just told something embarrassing about yourself and it all goes silent... not the case. Ashleigh Grounds turned my worst hair nightmare into a reality. For claiming to have been doing hair for 10+ years, I am sincerely floored at the end result I have received. I am from CA and I have been looking for a new colorist so I decided to try her out. I am a natural brunette who has gotten balayage highlights for the past 6 years and have been obsessed with how it looks on me. I went into Ashleigh grounds salon (extremely run down) and asked her to make me very, very blonde for my upcoming Cabo trip. I showed her two similar pictures of exactly what I wanted and she seemed very confident and made me feel comfortable that she could do this for me. I was so excited and she was so sweet! Countless foils, tons of bleaching, and 4 hours later, I looked in the mirror at what she had done.... AND OH MY WORD. I have never seen my hair so brassy, splochy and completely damaged in my life. The back of my hair was white while the rest was discolored and brassy. I truly felt like I was wearing a wig. The toner she used did not suit my skin tone. It was a disaster. She saw my reaction as I looked in the mirror, so she offered me another bleaching session right then and there. At that moment, I wanted to run but knew I could not afford/find someone else to fix it before I left for my trip in just 2 days! Before I let her fix what she had done she told me I needed a trim because my hair was so damaged at the ends (which I was not intending to pay for- but whatever). Three hours later, it turned out a little better but at that point the integrity of my hair was ruined, the huge white bleached spot in the back of my head was still there, and my hair was still basically orange (but somehow still better than before) She charged me $310 for all the bleaching, the toning, the mask to "keep the integrity of my hair", and the trim... I went home that night and cried. It was seriously so awful. I left so unhappy for all the money I spent vs how it turned out. I was told by her it would originally only be $220... I shouldn't have to paid for her mistakes. With this being said, I immediately called my cousin (also a hair stylist in CA) to ask her what I should do. First off, she agreed my hair looked horrible, but told me it is really hard to go from dark to light ( which Ashleigh also said at the end of our 7 hour day as I left...) I completely understand this. Ashleigh, being the "experienced" hair stylist she is, should have known better than to try and take my hair to that level. My cousin said, "I can't believe she even tried that on you.. going blonde is a process.. what did she think would happen..." So I came to the conclusion that I needed to get my hair redone...but now I could not afford it and there was no way I was letting Ashleigh touch my hair again. I texted Ashleigh and thanked her for the trim and the mask but asked super politely for a refund for just the color because I really thought that was appropriate for this situation. She said it would not be possible because she charged me "50% of what it should have been" and only offered to "change the toner and fix my ends". (Well I need way more then that and quite frankly I do not want her touching my hair agin - so I passed on that.) Now I am back from my trip, (all my friends commented on how bad my hair looked- BTW!) broke, unable to get my hair color-corrected, and the worst part: I am left with extremely damaged hair :( . I must say Ashleigh is a super sweet lady but wow... she did me so dirty. For what I paid, I truly left with an "L". I appreciate the time she spent but I am now scarred for good. I will not be getting my hair redone until I go home to CA for Easter now. My worst hair nightmare has truly come true. read more

I was hesitant going to someone in the middle of downtown because I was scared it would be overkill for the event I was going to. Really bummed. I took Ashleigh a picture of a haircut I wanted and we discussed cutting a longer version of it. She ended up chopping off so much of my hair and thinning it out so much that it looks like a mullet. Two of my friends commented on how bad the cut looked. I have been going to Ashleigh for about 2 years now, she is definitely the only person I will trust with my hair. When I moved to Austin, I bounced around to a couple of different stylists (I couldn't find any I was really happy with), then I found Ashleigh through a groupon deal. I was immediately comfortable with her, which is great when you are sitting there chatting with someone for 4 hours getting your hair did. She has assisted me with all sorts of color combinations in the last 2 years, from red to dark to adding blue and back to red. Even with all the color and processing, my hair is in great condition, and I leave the salon happy and looking fabulous. I also recommended her to some of my high school employees for their prom, and they were all very happy with their prom hairstyles. I found Ashleigh through the Yelp deal. I am glad I did.... I got my haircut a few weeks ago and really like the cut. I needed a little bang help and she made them look much better than my previous cut! My hair feels very light and is easy to style. I got a color yesterday and LOVE it. I work in a corporate environment but still want something kinda fun and she nailed it! It's a darker color but when the light hits it, it has more of a violet red color. It looks awesome [and didn't scare my boss]! She made me aware that red fades faster so I will expect that in the next few months. Also, it took me like 35 minutes to choose a color and not once did I feel like she was rushing me. She explained very thoroughly my current hair color and what happens if I add certain colors etc. I appreciated that thoroughness! The salon itself is a little iffy... everyone rents a space so there are ALL sorts of people there. I feel like Ashleigh would be better suited in a younger, trendier space but she is downtown and there is free parking! The salon is outdated and it looks like it needs a good clean...also, throw some of that junk away! [This has nothing to do with Ashleigh, just the Salon she rents space in].
