We hired Groundworks Landscape Co. to build an outdoor kitchen complete with a smoker, gas grill, connection for a pizza oven, side burner, sink, refrigerator and several drawers/cabinets for storage. David met with us a couple times and gave us several recommendations on what was possible and where to go to pick out materials. Note that everything about this build was custom. We provided David with a general layout, picked out the materials and David and his team did an excellent job of bringing it to life. David and his crew handled every aspect of the build including general construction, electrical, plumbing and gas lines. I found David to be easy to work with, very responsive and transparent about costs and timing. We did make some changes along the way, which David was more than happy to accommodate. Each change and addition resulted in an amendment to the original quote so we always knew what we were being charged. We also added a few additional landscape jobs which David was able to seamlessly incorporate into the kitchen build. David's crew members were a pleasure to work with. They were always respectful of our property and did an excellent job cleaning up the work site at the end of each day. Groundworks will acknowledge your request but does not truly listen. I agreed to pay $2,800 for my landscape design. After I met with David and Enrique we decided it was not the design we wanted. I called David and asked him to not go any further with design and I would pay for what I received after the initial consultation ($2,800). Instead I was told to "hold on and we'll listen to what you want, I'll clean out my ears". When I received my second rendition with NO VIDEO, I was presented with a proposal and an invoice with an upcharge of $760. There was never any discussion of an upcharge - NEVER. I paid David the amount of $3,560 because I'm a person with values. Unfortunately I can't say the same for David Curiel and Groundworks. read more

Ms. Veronica.. I pity you for having to lie. You are the office manager and have absolutely no idea what your husband and his TEAM did for $20,540. I paid $22,120, Groundworks sent a check for $2,500 for the plants and boulders. The boulders, priced at $920, were picked up by a team of three men from Groundworks. The remaining $1,580 was for plants (planting them), which I did not pick out and had no say in being planted, were given away, or thrown out. The professionally designed landscape plan consists of two pages and costs $2,800. It was not made out for my yard, it is in minuscule letters and states: "Boulders Moss Boulders (To be field selected by owner) 9 (as per plan). The plan shows 9 boulders. You lied. When did I ask for an additional boulder, and when was I asked to field select 9 Moss Boulders? The plan states Palomino Gravel 487 5F/ 4.5 CY! Ms. Veronica, WHERE IS THE GRAVEL? NOTES: #8 All trees will be staked with 8" lodgepoles and cinch be rubber straps as necessary. WHERE ARE THE TREES? Ms. Veronica, are you still insisting that the Plan costing me $2,800 was professionally designed and approved by me? You are lying! My neighbors never looked at the plan. We were outside, and they didn't have their reading glasses or a magnifying glass. Again, you are lying; there was no discussion of removing the tree. Look at the plan: "Existing Magnolia tree to be retained." Ms. Veronica, since you are talking about: "you find peace in the world & God bless you", how can you have peace in the world by lying on Yelp? I do not normally write reviews, but our experience with David and his team at Groundworks was so outstanding that I needed to post something about it. I work in customer service, and I have done some freelance landscaping. When my mother decided to redo the outside of her house in Santa Maria, I knew that the project was way beyond the scope of what I have done before, and since I live far away from her, that we would need to hire a trustworthy professional. "You don't even see the walls". When we purchased our new construction home we were concerned about being surrounded by block walls. David Curiel and Groundworks Landscape not only met, (as any good landscape contractor would) but surpassed the vision for our backyard. The design he provided was only the beginning. David Curiel and his Groundworks team completed a total renovation of our landscaping that was original to our nearly 40 year old home. We could not be happier with the entire experience of working with Groundworks from start to finish! Upon first meeting with David we had a general idea of what we wanted, but we also gave him the freedom to suggest modifications as we were open to new ideas. I am so glad we did, and so glad we chose Groundworks! His expert knowledge, coupled with his team of experienced professionals, made our outdoor dream a reality. David dealt with the county on any and all issues requiring permits, making what could have otherwise been a tedious task for us seamless. Though our project happened to occur at a time of year when we dealt with an abnormal amount of rain and frost, David and his team made sure to complete it as quickly as possible while keeping us informed all along the way. Any and all suggestions and modifications came to us for approval prior to being completed, and we always felt he had our best interest as customers in mind.
